I saw this video come up on my feed, and it then struck me that I too have had my kindle oasis for about 3 years! And you know what? It's still as good as new! In today's world where digital gadgets fail within a minum of 2 years and get replaced almost every year due to constantly evolving technology, it is a pleasure to have a gadget that will definitely last me for years. I will never regret buying the Oasis!

I’ve had my oasis for about 2.5 years and I love it! I agree that a usb c would be really nice. My biggest complaint with mine now is just that the battery life is not what it used to be - I end up having to charge the battery at least once a week! Maybe that’s because of the amount of reading I do, but I swear it used to be much better.

I've always had to charge my Kindles weekly just because of how much I read. They've never lasted the advertised month+ for me.

I have to charge mine every 3-7 days. It lasts longer if I keep the wifi turned off but then I can't sync with my other devices. My battery does only max charge to 93% after 3 years.

    Great video, as always!
But I have to disagree about the scribe- I bought it last week to accompany my other kindles ( Paperwhite 2018 for work and 2021 for traveling/reading in bed) and as far as I´m concerned, it rocks for reading- it´s got such a great screen for any type of comics or (history) books with maps or pictures on it.
It is big, but you can hold it comfortably when sitting on a couch or in a chair.
Having a big screen means you have more text on screen and don´t have to turn pages as often which increases your reading speed.
I really love my Scribe, but I got 20% off plus 20€ for a old 2012 Paperwhite- which got it down about 100€- full price is a bit too much, that´s true.
I really hope Amazon will redo the Oasis with USB-C, a larger 8 inch screen (like the tolino epos 3!) and possibly a color screen? That would make me replace my Paperwhite.
Otherwise, the best quality right now is the Scribe and the best portable device the Paperwhite.
The Oasis is just outdated and I wouldn´t recommend anyone buying it over the Paperwhite as long as the price is´nt severely dropped.

I agree 100000% on the page animations! the main reason I returned my oasis for a paperwhite se is the animations (and the battery life was a big factor of course). as a night time reader, I felt like the flash of the page turns on the oasis was too harsh on my eyes. hoping and praying we see an updated version soon!

Great video - I either want an 8 inch oasis or paperwhite - I don’t want buttons - but I hate the asymmetrical design of both. The scribe is nice but waaaaaaay too expensive. The ten inch kindle with the keyboard was around $300 so this one in Australia is twice that for some reason .

With my ereader history, my first ereader was an early Kobo (IE bought it at a Borders). As Borders closed and I wanted to try out Amazon, I got a Paperwhite. Then I found out there were ereaders with warm light (which would be healthier for reading at night). So that's what got me to Oasis (at the time, the only Kindle with warm light): I got the 32GB wifi to future proof: being able to keep adding to book library or also add some audiobooks. Since I have been an owner, I will say it's ergonomic form factor shouldn't be considered a minor feature: it's the only ereader I've tried where it's been easy to hold in one hand for extended periods of time. Of course now, that seems like a steep premium since it's getting long in the tooth with other features (especially the micro-USB). As an Oasis user: I find it a bit of an inconvenience. My Kindle isn't the only legacy device I have that's micro-USB. Also since I collected so many cables, it's not like I won't have it and a USB-C cable in the near future.

I absolutely adore my 2021 Paperwhite I’ve had it for over a year now and it still works great. The Oasis’s ability to work with left handers like me is a nice touch and it does feel like a premium device. I held one once to try it out. I would like turn page buttons.
However for $250.00 it’s a hard no. I use a Paperwhite to read books. I do not need to write, annotate or otherwise mark up the pages. This is not to say I don’t highlight and add notes. I love that feature.
If they released an 8 inch screen Oasis with a minimum of 16 gigs of storage space with great battery life for $199.99 I may be interested. However I agree with some of the posts here. That’s not enough for the Oasis. They need to add writing and/or color screen to keep that $250 to $300 price range and make it premium over the Paperwhite.

I bought my Kindle Oasis in 2019. I love the page turn buttons, the shape of the device and love that it’s easy to flip to use in either hand. I also love the cellular feature so when traveling it still syncs without have to connect to Wi-Fi. The Kindle e-readers are very hard to connect to Wi-Fi in hotels so the cellular feature is nice. Now that Kindle Oasis is getting close to four years old the charge doesn’t last as long. Every once in awhile it is also having trouble keeping the correct time. Because of these issues I did purchase a Kindle Signature because I didn’t want to not have an an e-reader if the Oasis decided to die on me. Plus, I’m not paying the full price again for the Oasis that is almost four years old when the Kindle Signature is so much cheaper with some the features I like in the Oasis. The Oasis is much easier and more comfortable to hold and move from page to page than the Kindle Signature since it doesn’t have the page turn buttons or the ergonomic design. The battery charges really fast on the Kindle Signature and lasts longer than the Oasis. On the Kindle Signature you don’t have the option of cellular and I hate traveling with it. I’m constantly having to content the Kindle Signature to the hotspot on my phone. The cellular feature is so much easier. If they do come out with new Kindle Oasis that has the features I love and new improved features, I will definitely buy it and use the Kindle Signature as a backup. The Scribe’s size is just too big for reading hundreds of books. I sure hope Amazon has big things planned for the Oasis. I had one of every side and upgrade they have released. I will be really disappointed if Amazon doesn’t come out with an e-reader like the Oasis or a major upgrade to it.

I have had mine for over two years, and love it other than one thing. The battery life. With the WiFi OFF, it lasts maybe 8-10 hours of reading. It (somewhat) makes up for it by charging very quickly as well. An hour or less to fully charge. But compared to my Voyage's WEEKS of reading it is really surprising. It has been this way since the day I got it.

Clearly ready for an update. I would like to see the pen feature added to this device with the folder support etc. The writing feature of the Scribe needs to migrate across the Kindle platform. Until an update is ready, the Oasis is not worth the high price they continue to charge for it.

Hello, thanks for the review! In my country (Turkey), there is 80 US$ difference between PP5 and Oasis. Which one do you think I should get? Also, what do you think about PocketBook Era? It's very cool designed and looks pretty good, I think I'll buy a PocketBook.

    • @Maneetpaul
      @Maneetpaul  ปีที่แล้ว

The latest PW is more "future-proof" where as the Oasis will likely be old tech very soon. I have a PockeBook Era and plan to make a video about it in the future. My thoughts on it are positive, but I struggle with buying books on it. The Amazon bookstore has everything I need, using the Era requires a lot more work to buy books from other websites and they don't always have the titles I'm interested in. But this all depends on your personal preferences, so be sure to do your own research :)

@@Nikkilodean19 I ended up going with a BOOX tablet. The clarity isn’t as amazing as the top tier Kindle devices. But I’m happy with my purchase. I have the Nova Air C which has a detachable Smart Case with page turn buttons, and it works great.
It’s also very freeing to be able to utilize Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and any other reading app you may want to use if it’s in the android library of apps (experience may vary)
I personally just use it for reading text based ebooks. I usually read about an hour and a half to two hours a day, and as an example of battery life, I charged it completely on Sunday night, and it’s now Thursday with an 89% battery. Manga will drain it quicker, especially if there’s color. Just FYI

I HATE my Oasis. One of my biggest wastes of money ever. Overpriced junk. Horrible battery life-from the start it barely lasted a week on standby. Paperwhite Signature is vsstly superior. Also, slower than molasses in winter in all functions. What’s the point of having 32 gb of storage when the software chokes on less than a quarter of that? Lag time on all functions is horrendous on all Kindles. Lastly, it’s the only device I have that uses an ancient micro USB connector. It’s bad enough that I have to carry two cables when I travel because of my iPhone, but I have to carry 3 because the Oasis battery can’t even last a 3-day trip on one charge, and that has been the case from the day I bought it brand new!
