The irony is that when the convertible version came out a few years after this, Clarkson fell in love with it to such an extent that he spent ~£130,000 on one for himself
The Spyder is glorious. But I'm really surprised he didn't highlight the amazing tune of the V10 here. I'm glad he liked it though (he's just trying to hide a lot of the love, lol).
@@netweed09 I wonder if being able to hear the raw sound of the exhaust from the outside made the difference. Hearing the engine sound with the roof down is superb
With Jeremy's recognition of the handling, I just love the Gallardo even more. The original design is just so beautiful and that V10 sounds glorious. It lacks a bit of "Lambo" but definitely worth being a everyday Lambo for its sensibleness.
I drove the Gallardo on a track day I got for my birthday, at 160 mph. Absolute heaven. Wish I could afford one myself! Found the paddle gears a bit hard but what a beast!
Ridiculously I was supposed to be driving an Ariel Atom but they said all they had available was the Gallardo... will never regret that drive, absolute magic, albeit a bit scary going that fast around the race track! An experience you remember for life though!
The Murciélago was my first favorite car before I knew anything about cars. Seeing it on the cover of NFS Hot Pursuit 2, it looked amazing. But then I saw the Gallardo in a music video shortly after, and it looked so much better. I like the uniqueness of the long headlights paired with the taillights that go up to the top of the car, it just looked so different and unique.
I don’t hear about many people that know about that game but I am in love with the Murcielago because of it since I grew up on that game. Same with the mclaren f1 if only it wasn’t 20 million 😅
Its still out of my price range, but to me this is the one to have. First it has a stick shift option, its not an insane show stopper, apparently its easy to drive, and most importantly, its not super expensive to maintain.
It has not, the 2003 Murcielago aged better, the LP-560 4 Gen 2 Gallardo is the one that aged beautifully thanks to the Revénton styling. The original has aged hideously, I've always said if I ever own one, I'm swapping the body panels for the updated one.
What's crazy is that when Lambo decided to enter GT3 racing they used the Gallardo as their chosen platform. In racing trim they were awesome, and the exhaust they fitted to the race cars sounded like the V10 was trying to rip the sky open. Ye gods it was GLORIOUS. The Audi R8 GT3 cars run what is basically the same engine, and yet they sound crap by comparison. Lambo has updated to the Aventador platform for the GT3 cars now, and whilst the V12 in that car sounds good, it's nowhere near as good as the old V10 Gallardos were.

This is another review they got horribly wrong. Why on earth are they comparing the Gallardo to the Murcie? The Gallardo was meant to be a more livable, sellable, RUNNING MATE to the V12 flagship. As entry level super cars go from that era, it’s certainly more flamboyant and exaggerated then just about all of its rivals back then. The Gallardo ensured Lamborghinis survival as well.
