What a bop! I still remember defeating Blue for the first time on Firered. Those first few seconds really set the perfect tone for an epic battle that's just beginning
Great job as always, but this one stands out even more so than most I feel. Keep it up, maybe one day you'll get the real recognition you deserve, and I mean that. Seriously underrated content for how consistently high quality it is.
I loved the irony of the player and rival that was ultimately lost in translation. Red had a green pokemon in lots of promotional material, meanwhile, Blue's name in Japan is Green, and he had a red pokemon.
GBA OST's were the pinnacle of remastering. There was so much amazing experimentation almost all of it fresh... Easily my favorite version of Blue's theme
I think that the peak of experimentation was with gen 5. You just have to listen to the legendary theme from then. The level of weirdness in the music was off the charts. That being said, the gba games were also great from an ost standpoint.
YES MY FAVORITE BATTLE THEME EVER Zane you're spoiling me, first the HGSS Bartle frontier theme from a few weeks ago, now this. All I'm missing is the HGSS Kanto trainer theme and my life will be complete
Life changing piece for me. You PERFECTLY captured the spirit of the original. I have no notes or things I feel could be improved. Perfection. This piece is T H E reason I almost immediately developed the drive to compose music. Now I would end up composing kinda dramatic progressive extreme metal as opposed to video game music but still. Omnigen nor my other band Spectria would even friggin exist without Masuda-san's original work here. Thank you Masuda-san. Thank you Zame. Subscribed. -James from Omnigen.
Bro I remember 8 year old me playing this on GBA SP and hands down it's one of the best OSTs of the franchise, with one of the very best intros. I was scared sh1tless when I heard this for the first time. Imo only Cynthia's encounter theme has the same effect.
got an intense flashback of 7 year old me nervously pacing around my room with my Gameboy in my hands doing this battle after losing to the elite four at least 6 times

God, how this theme brings back memories of when i played Fire Red when i was 11, my team had the advantage over my rival(who i named Blue for obvious reason's, seeing as i named my character Red), i struggled with his Blastoise and Alakazam but with my Raichu and Snorlax, I ended up winning, pretty awesome fight tho.
I think it would be really cool to see a remix for this theme where it’s just a regular battle, since he just had the trainer battle theme in the Kanto games.
Have you ripped the MIDI of Chmapion's theme out of the Fire Red ROM before attempting to remix it? This sounds so authentical as if only samples were changed. Not that it's a bad thing. It's actually glorious. I get to listen to pretty darn good music pieces in improved quality.
i always though Rhydon was hard to to beat as how slow the HP went down when I was s using my Lapras using Surf or using Hydro Cannon of my Blastoise oh and also the beat when I beaten he's starter Pokemon at the end so memorable. My lv 81 Raichu , lv 47 Pidgeot lv50 Scyther lv53 Blastiose lv48 Machoke ,which I caught in Victory Road to beat Lapras and Charizard. You know what it means? I tell you I am the most powerfull trainer in the world! "the intense music starts playing"
I think the original did as much as it could with the limited hardware, this sounds like youre trying to do the same but without those same limitations. I like the minimalist original, but the HG/SS version is the best! I feel like theres too much going on here, but it is true to the original. I can definitely see something like this being featured in the next gen 1 or 2 remake though. I just prefer the minimalist arrangement i guess.
The original cover of the japanese guide for Pokémon Red and Green depicted Red with Bulbasaur, Blue (or Green) with Charmander and a scraped version of the female protagonist with Squirtle (whose name in the original japanese manga is Blue, that was changed to Green to not clash with western's version name of the rival). And because of that art is why the Special/Adventures manga also depicts them with those starters. So it's not wrong, they are actually making a homage to the original concept.

This genuinely sounds official that’s how good it is
Nah it’s better :SirFetchd: (only zamelings will understand)
I think it would be cool if this was played when you fight blue in lgpe just to prove he's better than trace in every way.
I love how you used the same pitch and background instruments as FRLG
Great touch!
FRLG is my least favorite version of this song, but I like how it's used here because it gives it more character.
@@flamingphoenix1425 I like the FRLG version because the part at about 5 seconds in sounds like an alarm and gives a sense of urgency
This is one of those few themes where my nostalgia or biases don’t get in the way. That said I still think this remaster is awesome!
Agreed! I played Firered latter than most and still remember this theme quite fondly
Blue’s Champion Theme is probably one of the best themes in Pokemon.
_You can’t change my mind._
You sir have great taste
And it absolutely stuns me that it is so, even though it is from the original RBY
why would anyone want to change ur mind? you're right.
I agree!!

I maintain that it's the beginning that makes any Pokemon track iconic, and god damn does Blue's champion theme has an amazing start.
Great remix.

Ok that one I was not expecting good work ZAME
FINALLY, A REMIX OF THE FRLG VERSION
Wow this sounds official especially because of the frlg instruments in the background. Great job 👏
The frlg version of this is just so good. This is an excellent remaster

Iconic

I saw some concept arts which showed Red with Charmander. But still I prefer Red with Bulbasaur.
in fact Let's go is a Kanto from another dimension.
This is because in Gen 7 there is talk of travel to other worlds.
This makes me wish Pokémon Let's Go was an actual Red/Green/Blue remake...

I think FireRed and LeafGreen have the best version of Blue's theme and you, have topped it
I remember this track in FRLG pushing the GBA soundfont to its absolute limit!

Strange Artwork wasnt Red the one with Charmander?
Because the obsecion of the initial bulbasaur in red !!!

Red has more appearances with Bulbasaur than Charizard
@@leanbeast1105 I've always recognized Red choosing bulbasaur ever since I red the RBGY chapters of the manga

Umm.... why the hell does blue have a charmander? Whay does red have a bulbasaur! EVERYTHING IS WRONG!
That's how it was in the manga
Without knowing the context, that's what you would say.
Manga version, Red has bulbasaur as his first, while blue has charmander. Green has squirtle.
