Another excellent video!. Just in 20 mins you managed to make references to three of the best TTL books and how to program a custom chip in our TL866. Brilliant!. You just brought the Ti book to my mind: when I was at the Uni it was almost impossible to get, very expensive to order to the USA (no Internet at the time) and the two copies at the Uni's library were always "unavailable".

Thanks for watching ! I have always been deeply intrigued by the TTL series. That really is LEGO for electronics. The feel of joy when I first coupled up a 7490 counter, and a 7447 display decoder and looked at the looping counter on the 7 segment display has left a deep impact. We in fact had the TTL data book on the book list, and the local book store in Norway also had huge trouble sourcing them, but they managed every year !

Good video! I always thought that the XGeco was a cheap clone of the original programmer

Yes with a name like that, that was my first impression too. But it actually is the original product, and there are not many others that stand close to beat it on bang for the buck.

I bought the 866II Plus myself with some adapters. Just dwelling into what it can do. I'm impressed so far.

This is great info and good to know, I have the same programmer. Haven't had to use to test yet, but will keep in mind to double check the truth tables.

    Mr. Black sent me 😊

And a great thank you to Mr Black for doing that, and thanks to you for watching. I hope you will take some time and see If you find something interesting. Please make a comment if you miss some content or have some questions. I try to have at least one learning point in everyone of my videos, but as English is not my native language, I also try to spin some of the videos on a Norwegian angle.

good video, but what xgpro version did you use (did is miss it in the Video)? In my version, the bug seems fixed?!

Hi, thanks for watching. I have tried with several versions, the one in the video was 11.71 from December I think. I have also tried with the latest 11.81 versions. And some of the versions are actually worse. In the 11.81 they now have a entry for the 7406 with OC description, but the 7416 is not fixed, but in the 11.80 it did work somehow. They have also added a strange 7406 (non standard) entry that is the old one. I did notify them about the problems in November and it does seem like they are trying. If you upgrade without removing the old XGpro cataloge I have seen some strange mix of detection.

I just received new produced 7406 ic's from AliExpress. They all test perfect in the mini pro. Even on the lowest power setting. But will give a scrambled picture in the C64. With old stock 7406 the C64 works fine. What can that be? Is the Gate timing different?

This is very interesting, can you please note down or send a picture of the truth table that is shown in the minipro software of the 7406 ? There is a strong probability that the 7406 Chips that you have bought from AliExpress are remarked 7405 Chips.. The timing or propagation delay of a single raw inverter circuit is not significant in how it is used in the C64. If Possible I would like to get my hand on one of the new 7406 chips that does not work.

Good stuff, man! I found all the TTL databooks I could ever need at archive.org. I'm going to have to fool around and get a TL866II of one sort or another - it's a handy piece of kit for doing computer work.
