Matter of preference. The moment I saw the reveal, I fell in love with the design and compact size of S23. Coming from S10+, I'm kinda over it with the curved display.
I'm looking at this right now from my S10 plus debating on the change. I agree the curved screen is a horrible gimmick that just creates an easy break/weak point for the phone. My major problem is no micro SD card slot. 256 is just to small. I hate having to curate what I keep on my phone so I currently have a 512 gb micro card.
I ordered the 23+. My mother ordered the 23 Ultra. It was too big for her so I swapped thinking "yay! Free upgrade!" Two days later I asked for my 23+ back. The size is wonderful. Bit bigger than my iPhone 14 Pro, yet still lighter, the flat screen and rounded corners are just so much more comfortable in the hand. The Ultra is gorgeous but so so so heavy and big, and the corners make it uncomfortable to hold. I literally can't tell the difference in screen quality and the battery life is still insanely good on the 23+ and it hasn't even finished learning my usage patterns yet. OneUI is fantastic on the device and I'm LOVING this phone. Listen to Mark. Unless you HAVE to have the SPen, do yourself, your wallet, your hands and your pinky finger a favour and order a S23 or S23+.

I went with the S23 ultra 12/512. The battery is amazing. It's been 20.31hs since last full charge. Screen time on is 2.47hs, screen time off 17.43hs & 69% left on the battery. My last phone was the S20+ 5G, also great phone but the 23 ultra smashes the S20 with battery time. I keep the screen refresh on at 120Hz on the S23 ultra, I couldn't do this with my S20+ as it killed the battery so fast. I like the big phones so I'm happy with the size as my S20+ was only 0.1" smaller, so I don't notice much. But I can feel the ultra is bigger & also much heavier. I can't wait until I learn all the cool features on the S23 ultra. This is going to be a fun phone & I'm totally 100% happy with it.
This video has just confirmed what I had noticed, the Ultra in video and even often in photos, has this tendency to darken the foreground and overlight the background (almost overexpose), while on the standard S23 the balance is almost perfect. It's clear that it's a software problem, if not even a choice on the part of Samsung's engineers, but frankly, I hope they will fix it very soon with an update.
I was using Iphone 14 pro; switched to Android and bought S23 Ultra. A great phone but not very easy to carry through out the day due it's size. Bought S23 and loving it since. Beautiful phone, amazing display, perfect size and good battery.
I've just replaced my S20 for an S23+, and everything has been great, but I'm missing a few things. The S20 was lighter and felt more comfortable in hand. Although I prefer a flat display, I'm missing the curves of the S20 because it made the phone look more premium and futuristic. Also, colors were more vibrant on the S20 for some reason. The display of the S23 looks a bit more washed out by comparison, despite being on the vivid color profile. I'm pretty sure that with a little bit of time, I'll get used to all of these minor gripes.
I have the s22 ultra and my contract finished in Feb next year. I hardly use my s pen and find the size big and heavy. I have small hands . I bought a new phone and received it at the weekend the s23 plus. It feels comfortable and light to hold. I still have my s22 ultra just in case.

I bought the best phone - S21 Ultra 2 years back and thought having the most powerful phone is what I need. But I was wrong. It's too heavy and since I use my phone very often, that's not what I want. After 9 months, I sold it away and bought a S21. Had been enjoying it's use ever since. The small form factor while having equal performance as the plus and ultra gave it a distinct advantage.
I have the ultra and it is ultra awesome,,, especially that I live in the uk and previously we had the exynos versions,,, I've upgraded from the s21ultra to the s23ultra and oh man,,whaaat a difference!! The Snapdragon was my main reason for upgrade,,0 regrets
Just got the S23. I wanted the S23+ but it was 700 dollars more expensive. I'm probably going to do a trade-in for the s24+ when it releases and hopefully get a good deal (hopefully, we don't usually get nearly as good deals as in the us in denmark)
I went from a Samsung Galaxy S8 to an iPhone 13 Pro Max and the size difference was night and day for me and my big fingers. This time, I'm going for the S23 Ultra (or S24 Ultra when it comes out) due to the fact that I love a phone (or anything) that's fully packed with features that are simply not found on smaller phones. Plus, my hands will be blessed with a big screen.
I got the S23 plus 512GB in cream and it's a great phone the shape is better and the flat display is a big YES! I don't use the S-pen never did not even on my previous note series so for me it's not important and the 200 megapixel camera is just a gimmick in my opinion, the both make high quality photo's!
I have a note 10. I also use my s pen a fair amount. I recently got the s23 and I kinda miss the s pen but I went for compact and performance instead of design and features. Overall I'm happy but I also still use my note 10 🤷🏽♂️
I was very close to getting the regular. But decided to get the ultra since it can run heavier games and emulators. I'm paying a lot anyway so thought it's better to get the device that can do more 🤷♂️
If your just going to have one phone, I'd 100% agree. I've currently got a S22, iPhone 14 Pro and have the S23 Ultra on order. Between the S22 and iPhone 14 Pro, I like the S22 better. It's mostly because of weight. Another reason I like it better is because the iPhone 14 Pro is buggy. What I dislike about the S22 is the battery life and it not having more than a 3X optical zoom. As for the reason I ordered the S23 Ultra... it's because of the hype. I got sucked into it. I've never liked large phones and I felt that 6.1 inch was even a bit too large. And with the they way every review I've seen talk about this S23U, I just had to get it. I guess I'll know soon enough if I'll be happy with the S23 Ultra. If not, I can always fall back to one of the others...
Hmmm what i disagree about in this video is you keep emphasizing the camera is a huge difference: "the camera is not that good" but in reality its 95% the same
Size matter... Go to the samsung store. Have both phones on ur hand. Have a feel of the phone . Both phone performs well. But charges really slow. I was using hua wei p40 pro previously . So it use to take me 20-30mins to chrage now 45-55 mins to charge . Video good. Game good. Watch movie good. Sounds good. Picture also good. S23 plus is just nice for me.
excellent video, just what I've been looking for before I make the decision between the two, also the celsius reading is very considerate...just subbed
I bought the S23+ and I love it. But, I somehow missed that there is no macro mode on the camera. The cameras on the S23+ are GREAT, unless you are into taking macro shots. And I am. I prefer the curved corners and flat screen of the Plus. It feels good in the hand and is already heavier than I am accustomed to. I'll be setting up the Ultra today and I sincerely hope I do not regret my upgrade decision (I've already paid the restocking fee). But seriously - even my S9 had macro mode! I don't understand why any higher end phone camera wouldn't, except to force an upsell, and I'm annoyed by that.
The s23 has an issue with group photos. The people in the edge got distorted. I have no idea about the Ultra. But surprisingly no reviews of S23 ever mentions about the distortions.
I upgraded from S10 to STU ultra...Ita beautiful, great to sue BUT it is very heavy and wide. It actually triggered my carpel tunnel which hasn't emerges for awhile. Will need to return the Ultra and considerign getting the S23..
If you dont care about the bulky size and weight and uncomfortable hand feeling, want bigger battery, a gimmicky periscope zoom and s-pen, go for the Ultra. Otherwise I would go for the S23 (as I did), it just feels so good in the hand (and in the pocket)
I'm using my S9+ since 2019, but time to upgrade. Basically, I could get S22 and it would be still a huge upgrade. But I guess I will wait till black friday, or few months till the prices drop. Still not sure if to get S23+ or Ultra lol
sizes are gone crazy, i prefer smaller phones. Thats the only reason why am not buying the ultra knowing that I can afford it no problem and i am a big fan of photography. but that thing is just too huge and uncomfortable to hold or to get out from your pocket. after all image quality has a lot more to do with the post treatment of images then with specs on paper these days. so getting the smaller one i well still get the samsung touche that I like.
Another great video, Mark! I haven’t pulled the trigger on getting the Ultra, mainly because I just got the 14 Pro Max a couple months ago, and I don’t want the wife yelling at me. 😂
Guys should I buy s23 256gb for 675€ or s23 ultra 8/256gb for 825€ (or should I go for the 12gb RAM model) ??? Please answer if you had experience with this phones
2 years ago i got the regular S21, and the phone is working great still, the size is perfect (the main reason i bought it), it's still quick, the camera is amazing, and it's feature packed, as all samsungs are. But there is one thing bothering me since day one, and that's battery life. Really unreliable, and i have to carry an external battery with me all the time (ok, i would either way, but still). It's not the screen time that was the problem, it can hold up to 5ish hours, but when the screen is off it still uses a lot of it, and during the night it can go down to 10-15% which is really annoying. So now, as my contract is about to expire the question is again, do I take the ultra which is too big, but great overall, or the smaller one...or just ditch samsung and go for pixel or zenfone9. In general, i agree with Mark, smaller phones are better for everyday use, so i'm hoping for the time where the smaller ones are also going to have top specs.
I sort of wish I got the normal S23 but I am shortsighted and read my phone up close quite often so personally I can see the difference, but would agree it's not a very big difference. I wanted to try the S Pen, so I will stick with the Ultra but I have had to buy a popsocket as it is a bit cumbersome to hold. I think maybe the S23 Plus will be discontinued, as seems pretty pointless with the worse resolution. I wish they would make the S23 Ultra a little bit smaller, like if they made it the same size as the plus I don't think most people would care.
If I didn't care about the 10x optical zoom, I would have gone for the regular S23. Nice to have a phone that fits in my hand, even if my real preference would be for an "S23e."
I missed the preorder due to my indecision, so I can’t get the free storage upgrade. 128gb storage is fine for me, but would paying the extra $100 for the 256gb be worth it for the increased storage speed?
I hope my s23 ultra will have a better camera then my current s23+ I'll be getting it sometime tomorrow... My s23+ has a terrible camera and I've done everything
@Michael Rocco yes better screen and battery. Both phones have good speakers. The ultra was just too big and heavy and those pointed corners dug into my hand
I don't know how you're getting such poor battery life. This is BY FAR the best battery life I've EVER had on a smartphone! I'm getting 8-10 hours SOT bare minimum

I use my S Pen a far amount (I am still rocking a Note 9 LOL!). If I chose to go to the S23, what happens to my S notes? Do they port over?
All Notes are saved to your Samsung account. Just sync/back up.
So whats the situation,?
How is it going now
Great video, Mark. But what about S23+ battery perfomance?
I wasnt impressed with the s23 plus battery the s23 outlasted it
@@marufio I'm not agree)
I got my S23+ and battery life is amazing...
10hours "Screen on time" per 26 hours
Glad they solved the battery life issue and no more exinos. Small updates but better optimised.
For the extra $200, Upgrade to the ultra for the zoom, pen, and cooling chamber for better heat management
Actualy the difference is 400$..
@@dzonib9595 actually its $340 if you are comparing the 265 versions which is the base for ultra
for the video does s23 do same like s23 ultra? like video quality and stabilization ?
all I care about is the external storage SAMSUMG PLEASE BRING BACK THE EXTERNAL STORAGE OPTION
That will never happen
Great content. I'm a note20 ultra user. Which as the biggest screen 6.9" I'm keeping my note20 ultra for a while longer.
I had note 20 Ultra that dinky extra length not noticable
its 3 months and I am still not getting used to S23 ultra weight. I am planning to switch to S23. should I ?
I thinking about this as well
I completely understood the price difference reference. Infact, it's the exact same analogy I did when I was buying the s23u
I teally appreciated the fact that you said the answer at the beginning of the video, still I'll watch it all, very honest
I am watching this from my Samsung S20+5G. I buy a new phone every 3 years so it's time for me to buy new phone.😁😁😁
Now which phone??
Is the Galaxy S22 a good choice this year given its lower price and what about the heating problem?
The s23 has an issue with group photos. The people in the edge got distorted. I have no idea about the Ultra. But surprisingly no reviews of S23 ever mentions about the distortions.
I dont need camera. I need performance which one should i buy? Kindly do share ur opinion
I upgraded from S10 to STU ultra...Ita beautiful, great to sue BUT it is very heavy and wide. It actually triggered my carpel tunnel which hasn't emerges for awhile. Will need to return the Ultra and considerign getting the S23..
Mark I will get the Galaxy s23 ultra what's your opinion should I get the s23 or as 22 what's your opinion
If you dont care about the bulky size and weight and uncomfortable hand feeling, want bigger battery, a gimmicky periscope zoom and s-pen, go for the Ultra.
Otherwise I would go for the S23 (as I did), it just feels so good in the hand (and in the pocket)
Agreed with the person that commented
S23ultra, anyday!
Just a little curious, if you do TH-cam FT why move from Florida to NC?
Weather
i got the ultra to go with my fold 4 , iphone 14 pro max and my new sony xperia 1 v , all great phones and fun to own
I'm using my S9+ since 2019, but time to upgrade. Basically, I could get S22 and it would be still a huge upgrade. But I guess I will wait till black friday, or few months till the prices drop. Still not sure if to get S23+ or Ultra lol
Same here
sizes are gone crazy, i prefer smaller phones.
How are you measuring the phones ? Is it lenth or Diaonlly
Diagonally
Another great video, Mark! I haven’t pulled the trigger on getting the Ultra, mainly because I just got the 14 Pro Max a couple months ago, and I don’t want the wife yelling at me. 😂
Both phones are great. Better stay with 14 pro max if you want peace in house lol.
Thank you very much for this review, it helped me very much!!!
Guys should I buy s23 256gb for 675€ or s23 ultra 8/256gb for 825€ (or should I go for the 12gb RAM model) ??? Please answer if you had experience with this phones
In India the Ultra starts at 1540$....its just heinous
Yeah 🥵
Thanks for the very helpful presentation.
If the price was the same ,,, which phone? One of these or an iPhone 14 pro max?
@Hewhoremains but how? In which respect?
8:54 thats wierd i have a 2019 lg g8 and i can close de app and not lose what i was reading
Samsung battery life is Rubbish. But the new ones improved significantly they say. That's the reason I don't Iike Samsung phones
Great video! Pretty much covers everything that makes the choice easier.
You mean that you see the difference in ppi?
If I didn't care about the 10x optical zoom, I would have gone for the regular S23. Nice to have a phone that fits in my hand, even if my real preference would be for an "S23e."
Great video Dude. Glad you compared the S23 to the S23U. What are the haptics like on the S23 say compared to the Pixel 7 series?
Haptics are as quality as it gets, a little weaker than some phones though
I have the s23 and it was funny when all my friends with an iPhone seen my camera compared to there's
I want the Ultra but a lot of reviewers are saying the shutter lag is still there.
Tell me witch one is best..?
I missed the preorder due to my indecision, so I can’t get the free storage upgrade. 128gb storage is fine for me, but would paying the extra $100 for the 256gb be worth it for the increased storage speed?
TBH if you bought the 128gb, it's not worth it to buy the 256gb anymore.
@@santaisaja2191 Obviously, but I haven’t bought any of them yet.
I hope my s23 ultra will have a better camera then my current s23+ I'll be getting it sometime tomorrow... My s23+ has a terrible camera and I've done everything
What is that black cylinder thing in the back ?
I still have a Samsung s10 plus 😂 7 years later and it's still great but I was looking into upgrading to Samsung ultra
Great work Mark! Thanks for always making informative and funny videos!
All are nice, what do you think of the S23+ ?
Screen resolution wasnt the best and battery was lacking compared to the s23
@@marufio so the regular S23 is better?
@Michael Rocco yes better screen and battery. Both phones have good speakers. The ultra was just too big and heavy and those pointed corners dug into my hand
I have the s23 ultra and s23+
Should I trade in my s22 ultra for s23? The battery life is horrible.
So why did you leave out the s23 plus
Bit of a diversion here, but has anyone else heard the 'strong' rumour that Samsung will completely drop the Plus model from the S24 range?.
I got the Galaxy S23 Ultra. And no regrets at all. Simply fantastic!
I like that phone also how much it cost?
The battery life on my S23U has been subpar barely getting 6h SOT, I'm leaning towards trying the S23 to see how it does.
I don't know how you're getting such poor battery life. This is BY FAR the best battery life I've EVER had on a smartphone! I'm getting 8-10 hours SOT bare minimum
The s23 can last all day and it recharges quite fast
The S pen is also the "mouse" and remote shutter release for the S23 Ultra
Nice reviews, help me alot to buy which phone that i need it so i can saving some money to buy another thing. Thank you
Is it just me or my location... here in Asia s23 ultras start with 12 gigs of RAM base for 256 GB
5:49 "It lasts so long" unlike my ex.
S23 great phone way better than iPhone for me
🎉hey can you tell a Musatteng smart phone /says on add smart s23ultra for car
Nice video. Thanks Mark
thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for your information I know what to get my daughter now s23 galaxy 5g 😊 thanks 👍
Great review, & now, dio I go to Verizon, ot Best Buy ? ... Locked or Unlocked ??
Probly both, with Best Buy 2nd ...
Dislike purchasing from Verizon staff
Hi Mark, the Base S23 is available in 512 GB in some regions
Which regions? I couldn’t find anything about it
No 512 gb on s23 base model only 128gb with ufs3.1 and 256gb with ufs4.0
@@MarksTech I have a base S23 with 512gb. I got it here in Korea. They don't even sell the 128gb here, only 256gb and 512gb.
@@MarksTech Korea, China, Hong Kong, South Korea afaik. Great review btw, you did justice to the S23 base model
@@flixbox5226 It is available in some regions dear
I've had the S23U and just ordered the S23. It's too big and I actually don't think the cameras justify it.
Thank you, now i decided to get s23. Tried ultra in the samsung center, yeah its heavy and literally doesnt seem to have difference in screen quality.
I thought the smaller screen will have worse response, harder to scroll and similiar things other than screen quality, but theres none of that.
My only worries if theres a difference of performance/gaming, despite same chips usually cheaper version of samsung have downgrades. But i read 256gb s23 had ufs 4.0 like ultra, and that decided my choice :)
The only downgrade performance wise is that the smaller phone will just naturally have worse cooling
2000 to 4000 mbs for storage speed isnt that big of a savings in time its very very small
