    On my old buick lesabre I carry an extra coil pack and an extra ignition control module . Both are too easy to change and not bad expensive. I keep an extra coil pack for my wife's car also. Nice video!

    HEY ZIPPO, BEREN A LONG TIME, HOPE YOUR DOING OK THESE DAYS, LIKED THE VIDEO ON THIS BIKE, I HAVE AN 04 VSTAR 1100 CLASSIC MYSELF, FIXING TO TAKE THE CARBS OFF AND REBUILD THEM TODAY, DID THE FUEL PUMP A FEW MONTHS AGO. TAKE CARE AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING MORE OF YOUR VIDEOS SOON.

      Heya Tim! The best change made to mt V Star was the addition of the beach bomber bars. It's the bike I ride most often over my two vintage Honda's (`73 CB350 F and `75 CB550 F) and my `04 Goldwing. Good luck on the carburetors buddy! Oh....Did you get your bike new? Did you get the Starter Recall taken care of? That was done on mine before I acquired it. Cheers!! Zip~

    Love the sound of the bike. I agree need to get a second one and carry it along with tools needed to replace - but you already know that. Harder to replace than I thought it would be though. Great job. Take care. Thanks for the video.

    Looks almost identical if not the same as the original 1 fitted to my Africa twin. Know to be a big problem I replaced mine at first with oem but died again. On the Africa twin forum everyone said fit a Facet pump, think they're actually American. Been spot on for many many yrs since!

    The fuel pump on my 2001 VStar 1100 Classic clicks and does pump gas but the clicking sound is very slight. I disconnected the hoses to each carb and there is gas flowing out of each during the timed priming cycle...doesn't seem to be much pressure and the pump sounds weak?...not sure. The engine idles fine but bogs and dies intermittently when throttled up. Most videos I've seen on the fuel pumps show a working pump with a much louder clicking sound. Is there a specific pressure that the pump must achieve to give proper flow rate to the carb when running?...Thanks

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not a high pressure pump Joe. Between 4-5 psi. Just enough to keep the fuel bowls full, but not so much as to over fill them. Zip~

    I'm having trouble on my 05 1100. I hear the fuel pump for about half a second vs that long 6 second ish fuel pump pressure stabilizing noise then it shuts off. Ran just fine the last time it was started, but now the fuel pump moves a little bit for about half a second, but the bike does not run. Crank no start. Maybe the fuel pump? I'm hoping it's not something else.

    How did you diagnose this as bad did it up and quit on you? I’ve got a weird issue on my Vstar trying to chase down the rear cylinder cuts out around 1/4 throttle. Runs excellent some times other times it falls on its face.

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fuel pump can be heard when the key is turned on. It will cycle until the preset pressure is reached. As for the rear cylinder cutting out at times, the carburetor for that cylinder most likely needs rebuilt or you've got a spark plug on the way out. If you've done any modifications to the exhaust, these engines tend to run lean. The fix is installing appropriately sized jets best determined by a reputable motorcycle repair clinic/shop. Zip~

    Is this the same on a 03 yamaha roadstar 1600 it will start after idles for 5 seconds n stall i thought it was bad gas at first drained the tank cleaned carb it idled a min and the stalls and wont start ??? Any info will be great thank you

    • @ZippoVarga
      @ZippoVarga  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can only assume so, not knowing your bike directly. When you would first turn the key, do you recall hearing an audible rapid clicking that would stop after a few seconds? If so, chances are good that this is your problem as well. Good luck! Zip~

    How did you know your fuel pump was bad

  • @januaryman169
    @januaryman169 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Zippo, MotorcycleMD says you are wasting money on the cheap fuel pumps. The reason a fuel pump goes bad on a motorcycle is mostly due to not riding the motorcycle. Also, I read on a motorcycle forum that you can temporarily gravity feed the carbs but you will be lacking power.

    I was trying to find a video on how to Remove or Bypass the Neutral Only Start Switch so I can start the bike by just pulling in the Clutch and starting it in gear, or push start it down the hill if the battery gets low... But it is VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE IT ON!! My brother had a 2007 Vstar 1100 like the one that I'm looking to buy, and it stalled at a Red light an the the Sun was bright and he Couldn't see the Neutral Light and couldn't find Neutral and the traffic light turned green and he almost got run over so he got rid of the bike... I heard that it can be removed or bypassed because it Also causes problems with the Starter... So Please either make a video of how to remove it or bypass it or send me a link to one someone else has done, because I put it in the search and I can't find it, just get other ones like this one that isn't about that switch... But it is a Good video and I might need it later, but I need to know that I can fix that "Before" I spend all my money on a bike that is unsafe to drive with that switch in it... Thanks

      I choose my routes very carefully and always keep my distance from 4 wheelers. When I'm being followed too close for my comfort, I put my hand down and wave followers to back off. If they don't, I pull over. 4 way intersections, I always let the 4 wheel vehicles go, even if they wave me on. As a rider, we've got to be UBER aware of our surroundings and always predict idiocy and ignorance. I can't say I've not had close calls. But I can say after over 35 years of riding, I've learned just about every idiot move 4 wheel vehicles can manage. But one can never let their guard down when on two wheels. No matter how visible you make your self, someone will simply not see you. But, the reward and freedom outweighs the danger factor. Not by much, but it definitely does. Cheers Chris! Great point with idiot drivers! Zip~
