- James Taylor is no stranger to the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.
As of 2023, James has performed at Blossom more than any other featured performer: 26 times in the past five decades.
In 1979, James was celebrating the release of his most recent studio album, “Flag”, with an extensive U.S. concert tour that included the Blossom Music Festival. The concert was taped for release by Warner Bros, produced by Peter Asher and Stanley Dorman. This was James’ first ever commercial video release.

LYRICS
Mexico by James Taylor
Way down here you need a reason to move
Feel a fool running your stateside games
Lose your load, leave your mind behind Baby James
Oh, Mexico
It sounds so simple, I just got to go
The sun's so hot I forgot to go home
Guess I'll have to go now
Americano got the sleepy eye
But his body's still shaking like a live wire
Sleepy señorita with the eyes on fire
Oh, Mexico
It sounds so sweet with the sun sinking low
The moon's so bright like to light up the night
Make everything all right
Baby's hungry and the money's all gone
The folks back home don't want to talk on the phone
She gets a long letter, sends back a postcard
Times are hard
Oh, down in Mexico
I've never really been so I don't really know
Oh, Mexico
I guess I'll have to go
Oh, Mexico
I've never really been but I'd sure like to go
Oh, Mexico
I guess I'll have to go now
Talking 'bout in Mexico (Mexico)
In a honky tonk down in Mexico
Oh, Mexico
Mexico, Mexico
Oh, Mexico
Mexico, Mexico
Oh, Mexico
Mexico, Mexico

James il magnifico!....come lui nessuno!!!!!❤❤❤❤
I always start feeling happy whenever I hear this song!
I was at this concert back in 1979!! 44 years ago!?! Whaaattt!!??
I love watching these old clips! My favorite artist of all time! So glad I got to see him again this year! Just love!!! ❤
Same here, ❤ 70's and 80's were the era for music.
Incredible line-up of a band.
So much fun to see 4 of this group in The Immediate Family - in Santa Barbara a few months ago. Fun to meet Lee Sklar in person recently in San Rafael.
I used-to listen to this cut on cassette in the middle (and edges) of the Pacific and Indian Oceans after my working hours in my bunk on the USS Enterprise in the late 1970s. No iPhone playlist like what I use now - I had to make room for my amplifier and tape deck!
Yes, learned so much from your playing and we wear the same hat these days. But you are still a bit better in performing. Thanks James
Its so nice to see a couple of old timers in the band!!
Llevo 44 años escuchando tu música, y jamás me canso de hacerlo. Quisiera hacerlo, por lo menos, 44 años más!!!! Gracias por tu música, una obra de arte.
❤
Best
Love you James!
Anche 40 anni fa... Era il più grande di tutti!! ❤
Have wore out so many tapes with this song on it. Love James Taylor. I seen him. He can rock
It’s worth to wait
I love you, James! ❤
LOVE LOVE LOVE JT....THE ORIGINAL JT.
I have James Taylor LIVE cassette from long ago....would play it nonstop while driving around Brentwood , NY , home to our oldest , then two tykes , of a family of four beloved sons. Broken on this very dong, the cassette still plays but not this song in its entirety! Nostalgic , sentimental keepsake of two sons , oldest who brought the first guitar into our home, and second who loves his Gretch like no other guitarist. Thanks, James for being a good influence on our musical family!
Leland!!!

I was just 8 years when this record was done.... So great music, sound, guys
Agosto 2023🥰🥰🥰
@JT it's not Blossom Music Festival...
It's Blossom Music *CENTER* .
Hope you got to see Mr. Sklar when he was in MA with Lyle.
Lee, Russ and Waddy- doesn't get better than this!
Also, Kooch on guitar. David Lasley and Arnold McCuller on background vocals.
Back in the days when Russ had hair and Lee’s beard wasn’t white 😂
Leland!
I'm not a taylor but I used to listen to him during the year 🏝️🌞🎉
Great!! And in a few spots, it sounds to me like Leland Sklar was channeling John Entwistle, a bit.
the crunch Lee is getting out of that bass with just finger playing is unreal
I went to your Mexico concert in NJ. You came out with a boombox. What year was that? Garden State Arts Center.
I'm not Mexican but I used to listen to it during the sommer...🎼🎼🎵🎵
⚓️ Thanks James 🌈 can the band be named? I recognize Leland, Waddy? So fun to see 😎
The band are all named in the video description.
@@jamestaylor Thanks. Oops missed that 😎
For a moment, I thought Allen Ginsburgh was playing the guitar next to James Taylor. 😂
He was in a bad way here. SICk
Joaquin Phoenix could play James Taylor in a biopic.
Holy cocaine
Swear that was Tommy Chong at the start…
Love you James!
