I feel like everybody misses the funniest part of the parrot thing, which was that Von Karma *anticipated it and trained the parrot not to talk about DL6*
He was the perfect prosecutor, as well as the perfect criminal.
Apparently a parrot is easier to prepare as a witness than Larry Butz. Really says a lot about the guy.
I think the parrot didnt talk because you have to start the sentence with polly, like how the wikipedia says.

Franziska getting away with repeatedly physically assaulting random people with a weapon in a courtroom annoys me so much.
In phoenix defense, it was the prosecutors proposal for the defense to cross examine the parrot, the defense agreed and that is why its legal. Cross examination of animals has actually happened quite some time in real life

Not really, prosecutors get away with damn near everything. Manfred Von Karma was the first one to dish out a penalty instead of the judge in that case. But, the judge knows the DA won't fight back so he just cracks down on them to feel like he has some authority

Look if Phoenix has imposter syndrome it would be really hard to argue that he doesn’t since he is pretty much flying by the seat of his pants. He’s very smart and an amazing lawyer. But he’s also really fucking good a guessing

You cant have good tension if you're not constantly in trouble, and you can't constantly be in trouble if you have a modicum of an idea of what you're doing.

In his defence, the parrot WAS sitting on a vital enough piece of evidence that Von Karma had the damn thing RE-TRAINED so that it wouldn't mention the very incriminating thing it said.

I love these cartoons. I can't believe I haven't found them before now.
The voices are exactly how I would imagine them sounding; Edgeworth is refined, Phoenix has the "young, scrappy" sound.

Just went through this part of the game, I thought it was joke. I almost died of laughing after von Karma revealed that he rigged the parrot's testimony.

This was absolutely stunning, this should’ve been the Phoenix Wright animated instead of the anime
I started playing AA1 a little bit after seeing this and I cannot explain the absolute shock I felt when I realized that it was, in fact, von Karma's idea to cross-examine the parrot.

Edit: I have played through this case and the whole of the first game now. This case was hands down the best one for me! I thoroughly enjoyed voicing it for my friends on Discord and taking von Karma down a peg
