Cyber psychosis, the more mental stress, the more your body doesn't feel like your own and the closer you get to going berserk. Really sad. Can't wait for the next episode
I believe it also depends on how in touch you are with your humanity. I don't know how to best describe it, but it's like someone that has a really good life is less likely to go cyberpsycho than someone who had a really shitty life.
You can think of it like a computer, since in a light sense, our brain and nerves work like a comp and wires. Your brain is constantly firing electrical signals to your spine, out to your organs, back to your spine, back to your brain. (In a rough sense) we can assume that the implants, especially davids sandevistan (since its a whole spine replacement) fire signals back to the brain faster than our "stock" parts. Your brain compensates, and your implants work. The immunoblockers block the immune system from rejecting the non organic matter. When a person starts becoming immune to the blockers, the body begins to reject the cyberware, hence the bloody nose, and puking. The psycosis begins when the brain can no longer keep up with the signals being fired back and forth, and starts to break down, causing literal brain damage, which would cause siezures and malfunctions in cyberware, halucinations, and drastic mood swings. Its not the situation that causes the psycosis, rather the cyberware itself. However, just like with regular psycosis, stressful situations and events can excacerbate the problem. David was never special. One reason why he had such an affinity to cyberware is that hes nuerodivergent! He has ADHD! His brain was used to operating at a faster speed off rip, so the cyberware felt natural until even he overloaded his brain and lost it.
@@ChillyReaper Yup, it's purely based on your humanity, and David has alot of it because of his love with his mom, he still loves her a lot and it is keeping him grounded. The power of love prevents cyber phsychosis and can even stop it.
Here’s why the BD labeled 32 is significant. The BD of the first guy with the Sandy was labeled 31, the actual event happened in the beginning of the first episode. Symbolically David is 32, J.K. says David is next.
Trauma Team's whole shtick is that when a client is in danger they get to the scene in minutes, and the only other force in NC that is more armed than them (aside from the megacorps armies) is MaxTac.
Its tough to notice, but I feel like there is a different meaning behind the scene where JK dies: JK breathes his last, there is a pause, then JK looks and smiles and laughs at David. Then when the scene jumps back from David's face to JK's corpse, JK is staring at the ceiling again. Idk, maybe it is just how it was edited or just one last haha to David from JK before he dies, but when I saw that scene for the first time, I thought we were seeing the first crack in David's mind, the first possible moment of a little cyberpsychosis.
You would be correct. That was most likely a hallucination, showing that David was already starting to crack. In the end, considering what happened to everyone n that room, Kurosaki was right, he metaphorically got the last laugh.
Trauma team can practically "revive" clients, but it depends on their coverage and the state they're when they find them. That dude is still recoverable.
The BD that David was in were the unedited memories of Lt. Norris, the Cyberpsycho from ep. 1. That's what actually happened, and what he saw before getting taken out by Maxtac, only with David inserted in his place. Also his Mom did do something to him. She provided him with a life with some promise, a foundation of support and love that gave him with a buffer of humanity that few have in that world. It's why the Sandy doesn't affect him.... yet...
The Creator of the original Cyberpunk board game recently explained that Cyberpsychosis was similar to Roid Rage and Anabolic-Steroid Abuse. If interested his exact words were, "Okay, so time to (partially) explain CYBERPSYCHOSIS. First of all, Cyberpsychosis is a disorder that in part depends on the subject's overall internal susceptibility. Just like every person who drinks a lot at parties doesn't end up an alcoholic in the gutter, not everyone who gets loaded up on cyberware is going to automatically go cyberpsycho. You have to have an inherent susceptibility, which (in the TRPG) is represented by the player's Humanity Stat. Humanity is not just a measure of one aspect of personality, but an overall measure of several elements including the subject's ability to emphasize and relate with others, their ability to absorb and rebound from mental and physical stressors, their ability to show compassion and flexibility to others, and whether they are able to balance their worldview through other methods. So, in some ways, I tend to treat cyberware as an addiction--heavy anabolic steroid use being my favorite model. Not everyone who juices ends up crazy mad with roid rage. But those who are more susceptible to the need to take more steroids are more likely to hit a point where they do flip into roid rage. (Take a look at this article from Livescience for a pretty good idea of how roid rage works--notice that it's got the same basic profile as cyberpsychosis)." He said more but it would get into spoilers.
Funfact: Jimmy Kurosaki is voiced by Kirk Thornton who’s best know for acting as Kisame Hoshigaki from Naruto, Askeladd from Vinland Saga, Jin from Samurai Champloo, Jubei from Blazblue and Saix from Kingdom Hearts.
This is one of those shows where everything sort of comes together by the end. So you might feel like "what was that episode all about" in the moment, but later you think back on it and go "oooohhhhh, that's why that was like that."
I’m impressed that Lupa figured out that it was a braindance that quickly while Yoshi thought it was a set-up like I initially did. It’s usually the other way around.
Let me add, the TTRPG was also inspired by the book Neuromancer by William Gibson. 2077 is not so much a remake, its just later in the timeline. 2013 then 2020. They had a couple other editions, Cybergeneration and 203x (3rd edition), both more alternate timelines than official.

So there's a theory that what might help David with the Sandevistan is him possibly having ADHD. In episode one you'll notice he is constantly shaking his leg which I guess is a potential sign of ADHD or at the very least a neurological tic of some sort.
So I played the game when it first came out, and the glitches I had are comparable to Skyrim on release so did not hurt my perspective, often times was funny, I thought the story and music was A+, the "sandbox gameplay" aka just run and do anything was about B-.
