- We have a Toyota Lexcen wagon and we tried to put a quad-cam 1UZ-FE engine into it but it didn't fit... until we made it fit.
Street Machine Carnage is all about having fun with cars. Sometimes it's serious performance, sometimes it's crazy fun, but it always interesting and done on a budget.

You do a great job at showing what really goes into building cars.
Scotty, you are the greatest entertainer on the planet, we all wait eagerly for the next episode, it's not just the car content, it's your great sense of humour and style of explaining things that is easily understandable, I always learn something from your vids and am constantly inspired to build something of my own one day!
Well said.
Completely agree with this. Scotty’s videos always come out in a very relatable and digestible way.
Legendary work Scotty, this one is testing ya a bit, but ya make it look easy mate 😁🇭🇲
Hell yeah guys! Love the work Scotty, keep up the awesome enthusiasm and epic determination.
Love the slowmo welding montage mate.... classic 😂
Glad you enjoyed it
Welcome to UZ life mate, I just spent 18 months fitting a 3UZ-FE into a 90 series prado. Nothing fits and everything needs to be fabricated. Very satisfying when it runs as it should, great build and look forward to the next one.
Love the collection of KT's hanging up in the shed.
Sounds awesome
It's gonna be an absolute ripper scotty! I've been so amped to see this build 👍can't wait to see the progress. love the channel
Great job Scotty, If it was easy every body would be doing it! Great job welding in those sneakers, I’m feeling the pain of the welding splatter watching you , haha
Yeah, might as well weld in bare feet
Haha the Airplane reference. "We need more clearance, Clarence". lol
I was finding the three red cars you done was starting to get bit old. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed watching all of it. But this you one doing is like a fresh change. Looking forward to the next episodes
Loving the build Scotty, Im the proud owner of an exact twin of this great vehicle, I love my Lexen wagon daily.. Gives me motivation to do something cool to mine. Keep up the good work!!
That is awesome!
Friday off work, cuppa tea, vape, and a nice Street Machine video to watch.
Life is good.
Unique build, really enjoying this series so far Scotty
What an episode. Loving this build Scotty. Looking forward to next Friday already. Keep up the good work mate
There's "always something", coz carnage y'all. Why we watch, apart from those weird Aussie vehicles, coz we don't have to get dirty, frustrated or incur the expense of these builds while watching from our lounge room. Loving this Lexen build but what us yanks are really waiting is what you'll do with that Hemi 6.4, we're hoping for stronger internals, boost and fitting it to one of your Aussie mopars (I think y'all call them Valiants)? Something that can run 9s, road legal and daily drive in an event like your version of Drag Chalenge (and I'm not referring to what you Aussie boys get upto in Oxford Street, ha ha).
Yes reverse cowel I was thinking exactly that as you said it 😂😂
And some wide steelies
Good one Scotty
We're going to explore our options. I'd still like to keep it as a sleeper
Could this be the best Toyota built?😂this is going to be Maaaad ,love the channel and keep it up mate cheers 👍🛞🔥🛞🔥🍻🍻
Great work 👏
Scotty I’d be stripping the rocker cover baffles out as I remember doing similar to what you did and the grinder dust get right in and sticks (until it doesn’t) strip it right apart and hot tank it to get all the stuff out
I found this out the hard way when it came loose later and makes a problem
Then was damaged to late
Keep
Up the enthusiasm your doing such a great show
Damn it Scotty, you have sucked me into watching this damn thing, and now I'm getting interested in this one. FYI remember the rear pinion angle is going to change when it is sat on the ground.
Yep, we have an answer for that next episode
@@STREETMACHINETV adjustable top control arms?
How about a remote servo or am I missing something
I'm settling in with the first of many cuppa's- this is going to get wild, I can tell! Keep it up Scotty, it is daunting as you say, but it will be well worth it in the end mate. "-)
Just remember Scotty, shaving that metal from the cam cover is weight saving feature.
Also, when are Dunlop going to sponsor you? If you can get them to sponsor you, ask if you can have a couple of pairs of Dunlop Volley Steel Cap safety shoes!
Another great video Scotty! The excitement for this built is palpable! haha, can't wait for the next one mate!
Its mutch work but at the end you get jour reward. Good Job scotty.
Can't wait for the next episodes too come love ya show
I really appreciate your safety glasses😄
The long extension you use to get to the difficult bolts is great, is that a Supercheap part?
Those step bits are great, I remember drilling a pilot and slowly going up in size to the hole you want, ever since finding good quality step drill bits it's made life a lot easier (not cheap but worth the investment).
Great work Scotty looks awesome in there brutha!! 👌
You could have used the plastic booster from vs v6 . Toyota used the v8 boosters . With the v8 booter you can use an inch master for vt brakes . Unlike the v6 has different master mounting holes .
There is always something = good content
I think it'll look great with a cowl on the bonnet! Also will help to keep engine bay temps down right?
I'm glad you thought ahead about the thickness of ali to add to the cam cover when welding it up. 👍 Is there any room to drop the engine by 10 or 20mm? Just thinking that could help with the propshaft angle issue and be easier than mucking around with the rear axle or trans tunnel.
Great vid guys, nice edit/soundtrack Matt.
In some cases it's easy if you want to remove the engine and trans as a unit if you jack the rear of the car up. That way you can swing the tailshaft down and come out more nose up on the engine, if that makes sense.
Yep, but to be honest I like doing it this way
Yep scotty well done looks like you took my advice and modify the rocker cover to fit, . 🚗🚗✌✌👌👌👍👍🙌🙌😎😎
Yep, after much deliberation it seemed the easiest way to go.
@@STREETMACHINETV well done, just have to do everything else, why do it mate, is it a challenge of it or because they tell you do do it?
Would K frame spacers help with some of the clearance issues
Nice work Scotty, lots of grinding on this episode, there's an app for that! Just tryna help! 🤣
Good practice for the Hemi Torrie Scotty!
Oooo that's the motor and gearbox I want for my 90 series prado
Will a ba or fg budget fit. U can get higher than normal fg buldges😊
Awesome stuff Scotty!!
Always great to watch!!
#GlenlyonMotors
Another thing that might help is spacing the K frame down an inch or two, will help with engine angle and bonnet clearance
Two inches? That's alot of spacing
You can get rid of that 3 bolt output flange on the trans and replace it with a hilux transfer case output flange
Hey Scotty you can get subframe drop spacers to drop the engine down alittle
We could
Love this latest series Scotty but you gotta let go of spending so much energy being frustrated that things don’t just drop in first go - that’s just the name of the game when you do great things like what you’re doing man!
We always push through it
Cheers mate.
Don’t do reverse cowl, just run the stock intake manifold, it’s meant to be a sleeper right?
Is it possible to put the toyota uz cylinder head on the gm small block v8 302 engine if you make adaptations?
One build I've really been wanting to do recently is a 1UZ with a big single turbo (and supporting mods obviously) into a Lexus IS300 (Toyota Altezza). Yes, they come with the 2JZ-GE, but I would much rather have that V8 torque followed by the pull of the turbo as soon as I stomp the go pedal. I love the styling of the IS300 and I think that it would be ALOT of fun with the 1UZ turbo swap and a proper combination of suspension, tires, and rims.
Even a tuned na 1uz in an is200/300 would be very nice.
Will you be able to remove the cam cover with the engine in the car though?
Would a vs plastic brake booster have helped the clearance on the valve cover?
This looks like its going to be a LOT of fun can bubba have a drive
That Lexcen will make one great cruiser/ tow car/ street bruiser when she is finished
Only got a quick glimpse at it but how far off was it it you just turned the crossmember around!!!
The crossmember can't be turned around, it's higher one side than the other
So whe using the Hoist, how many times were you talking like Homer Simpson. Hoist goes Up, Hoist goes Down. 🤪🤪😘😘
It's definitely like that
Fitted in quite good really, will that RH rocker come off in place if you had to remove..looks like kinds will with the booster in place. There quite a wide engine and tall .
Great work though I look forward to the next eppy.
I think it will if we shuffle the engine mount bolts and shuffle it sideways.
Would 100% buy one of those gearbox mounts
Woohoo sorry i am late chucked a sickie, mounting trans scotty ?
I can hear Al, all the way from Noosa, going…”use the Subaru booster Scottie”
lol was just thinking that as you said it... I wonder if he plans to fit the pieces inside the cam cover, or is he going to cut it down further to maintain the 10mm gap.
Any way of keeping the stock intake? I like the sleeper idea.
We're looking into it
Can you weld the larger throttle body into the front of the original intake plenum?
We're going to look at options
Xr8 style bonnet would look cool
Great job Scotty. It will be a long road but worth it in the end. I wish that it would all fit under the bonnet. Will you try and fit in air con? Will this one be engineered? Would be interesting to see how that process works. She is a credit to you.
We'll see what we can do about keeping it under the bonnet
Why don’t you try a vn group a style bonnet?
Great job Scotty so good to see it fitting in the bay and it'll probably look pretty tuff with a reverse cowl
It would look tuff, but will probably screw with Sleeper look
@@STREETMACHINETV How about a Simon Cowell?
@STREETMACHINETV yeah fair enough aye it would be even cooler getting around in a nanna spec looking lexcen that runs 10s or quicker
@@STREETMACHINETV make it look like a ricer then, everyone will think it’s all show no go 😂
Hey Scotty would be keen to see your DIY efforts of fitting a steel reverse cowl if you decide to tackle it yourself.
Next time you're cutting aluminium with a grinder grab a tin of spray canola oil and spray the disc on both sides before you make a cut. Cheers From Stench
Great tip!
Why couldn’t you turn the gearbox x member around so the bit stuck out the back
Take another look at it
@@STREETMACHINETV can’t look I’m blind just a memory is all I had
@Joe okay, the height of the crossmember is not even side to side, there's at least a three 3in height difference, so the crossmember can only go on one way
Hopefully, the rubber drive disc at the end of the transmission will be eliminated in favor of a U joint as the disc type of setup does not like miss alignment found on a solid rear axle. ( discs are used on an IRS rear ) The stub sticking out of the transmission is used for centering of the disc. With miss alignment, this becomes a wear / bind point for the bushing inside the drive shaft. I've seen aluminum spacers that convert a disc to a bolt on ( Ford type ) U joint yoke.
We're going to look at our options there.
I hope the paint was still wet on that trans mount when you bolted it on 🙏
Of course
have you seen the pneumatic pumps for engine cranes just hook up an air line and uga dugga she goes saves so much time
Would be handy
Go an fgx bulge if bonnet doesnt fit. You have to be on the right angle to even see it.
Have one on my vz as blower pulley rubbed bonnet , vs ute will get the same treatment as the blower sits even higher.
Scotty, what’s the weight comparisons between EV6, 5.0 injected and this Toyota 1UZ ?
Interesting question
Can you take the rocker cover off whilst it is in
Love the work Scotty, you’re getting better with every build/engine swap and what’s involved. Did you happen to touch base with Al @ skidfactory? He may have had a booster swap (probably subie) that could have worked with the clearance issue
hi scotty i have heard a version of toyota i think hilux booster is an chiose of some engine mods
What is that stepped drill bit you were using. I want one
SP Tools do a set of three that's quite handy
Gonna suck when you have a rocker cover gasket leak and have to take engine out to replace it haha 😂
I don't think these leak too often
I can smell it when I watch you cut, weld or paint something 😂
Good job Scotty
Would a willwood booster delete be better?
Easier, but not better
what about rotating the Trans cross member 180 degrees?
Have a look at the shape of the cross member again and you'll answer your own question.
Well said
Mid mount the v8 behind the first row of seats and inclose the rear of the wagon behind a bulkhead.
Haha, no
As good as that manifold looks, id keep the standard just to keep it all under the bonnet and sleeper looking. Didnt Hoff go 1000hp with the standard manifold? Surely it should be fine for what you're chasing?
I'll have a chat with him
Yeah let's gooooo Scotty 😁
So removing the booster to take off the cover was not an option?
Literally easier to pull the engine
It would be awesome to see how much that motor weighs, using a hanging scale etc..
I'm guessing 450 ks
I think it's less, might see if we can find scales
More like 190kg.
So hopefully 20 more video and we will see it running and driving 😂 and its funny how you see how far the car has come on Facebook and Instagram so probably will see it finished on there before it's finished on TH-cam
Yeah, the superfans will know. It's all happening.
some 1uz gearbox's have the slip type drive shaft instead of the 3 bolt flange.
The rubber disc can't be used with a solid rear axle due to too much angle change over bumps. The disc type is OK for an IRS rear.
Fuck you did a good job on that cross member Scotty. Another awesome video.
Use a booster from a Toyota Hiace Van like the Skid Factory did on the LJ Torana
Bit late for that
Looks like u couldve just turned the trans mount around. Ive done it in a vp commodore before.
yeah, nah
There even appears to be a 2nd set of holes farther back on the frame rail.
Engine swaps are rarely straightforward eh? It's very easy to overlook all the custom work and hours put in when you see a finished product.
The intake manifold looks sweet, but it’d be a cop magnet sticking through the bonnet of a commodore 😂
True, we might go a different path
Keep the standard manifold. There is 1000hp cars still running the standard manifold. Check the Hoff’s supra
@@adriancraig9012 yeah, I'll look into it
This is a Toyota tho, it's practically a Camry! The cops shouldn't even look at it ;)
@@adriancraig9012 he's not using the stock manifold for 1000hp...
Great video
Really enjoyed content.
This yota is going to go of like a cok in a sock.
*Nice work Scotty!*
*Does the Lexcen (Flexcen) have a pet name yet??*
Not yet!
Call it Ben.
Once the cowl goes on you could call it the Reverse Cowlgirl..
Scotty who made the log manifolds for you?
Elate Manufacturing
Be good to avoid the reverse cowl or anything that gives the game away from the outside but sometimes you have to compromise...
