The name Pesta is actually taken from Norwegian folklore. Back during the black death plague, in Norway there were legends of a sickly old woman dressed in black who carried a broom and a rake, and would visit town after town, and if she used her rake, some would die and some would live, while if she used her broom, all would die.
Dude when Annabelle kissed him I gagged that’s the best side quest ever!!!!!! I love the whole vibe, story and everything shit had more depth than the whole Skyrim main quest! ALSO GREAT CONTENT 👌🏽
Yea at first I was like eeeew please don't do this and then she turned back human and it was kinda nice also I heard about this ending as I originally got the other one played through the whole quest again so I could get it
How do you start the side quest? I bring Annabelle’s bones back to him after the Fyke island quest and she turns, I walk back into his house and he seems dead and the plague maiden vanishes, but I don’t get any quest prompt to deal with the quest.
You over looked one other possible cause of the curse. As her lover was leaving the isle, he said something along the lines "I curse you all" if memory serves. A combination of her cause of death, feelings of betrayal and longing for her lover, plus his own part in cursing the island. Is what not only bound her in such a way, but is also why it can be broken with their embrace of one another. That was my take in it anyway :)
@@WitcherGeorge I'm aware, the only reason I bring it up, is because not only does Geralt himself take an interest in the lover's curse, but the fact that she remains a pesta unless he lifts his own side of the curse. She kills him either way so taking his life is not the cure. My take is that she only became a pests as apposed to a normal wraith, because of her lover's curse. She was doomed to become a wraith, but is was he who turned her into a pesta.
Awww, thank you for making this video :) Plague maidens became one of my favorite monsters after playing A Towerful of Mice, happy to see them covered here!
I love these lore videos you do. Very informative, especially as someone who's only played Witcher 3 and just started reading the books. I was curious if you consider doing a lore video on trolls or rock trolls? They seem interesting because they are kinda dimwitted, yet they have the intelligence to converse and understand certain concepts (shoes, jobs, etc)
I was gonna suggest a Christmast video the last time and you uploaded the Midinváerne/Yule video. Then I was gonna suggest the Catriona plague and here we are, close enough.
I'm kind of new to your channel, but I really enjoy your explanations of Geralt's world. Question: are there any crossroads demons types of entities? I'd love to hear about them! Thanks !
I remember walking around not really knowing what to do in the tower, and I tried leaving which caused Anabelle to attack. Not knowing that actually put me on the happier ending. Plus my game was bugged and Yyrden didn't have an effect on her until I loaded...
Great video man .. i was wondering if you could do a video on characters named Cahir, Milva and another one that starts with an a I forgot the spelling for, I didn't find any information on them so I'd really appreciate it if you would do a video on them
Once the guy told me to leave him alone in his house I left. I thought the quest was over. I then heard him scream from outside and went back in to realize I'd released her on Velen. Oops.
that ALOT of "perhaps" the most sensical one would be the one you didn't mention....perhaps....they appear in an areas that has been plagued AND they have alot of hatred
Can you please make a video on the 3 wars b/w nilfgaard and the northern realms and what was the result cause I have no idea about the wars.(using the Witcher world maps) Also pls explain why the wars occurred if not for territorial expansion. Pls explain why vesemir supports the northern realms.
2:31 in the witch unviverse?? Do some goddamn research chuma or plague maiden is a slavic folklore monster/goddess i think it originated from my country Bulgaria
Literally finished my university course on folklore, basically monster class; I was able to pick the Pesta as my subject for a term long paper. Pretty intriguing creature and the symbolism it uses to represent a inversion of the common fertility symbols used in the daily life of commoners a d nobles alike
Wait im confused i thought he died he did in my play through i brought him her bones and then i went back into his house not a minute later and that wraith was standing over his dead body what did i do wrong
I felt so bad when I realized what the woman actually was. A little codex thing popped up saying that she might have caused a big plague appear, and seeing as I thought this was the only outcome to the mission, I was hesitant to repeat it on my second playthrough.
Maybe a video on why Relict oil works on all the relicts. Relicts are generally monsters that can't really be classified in any of the other categories of the bestiary. They are very different ranging from fiends to the Crones. I just It doesn't really make sense for relict oil to work on all of them
Inb4 plague is caused by pesta's themselves, rats being their minions. Pesta's could be caused women dying while they feel a lot of hatred, need for vengeance, for example over being abandoned. That kiss was so gag-worthy though, I cringed and had to look away.

skyrim main quests suck big time

This game is so amazing that even side stories have different endings wtf
It's what we get when the developers go for quality over quantity
It’s not just the game, the series itself is so insane that even the old illustrations make it look like a real historical period.

That is an aspect of her curse specifically, but I was referring to her becoming a pesta specifically (as opposed to other more common wraiths)!

I'd like to see more videos on all the specter class. Maybe cover their cause or why of each type of specters?
I was gonna suggest a Christmast video the last time and you uploaded the Midinváerne/Yule video.

good to know there is another way to do this mission i'll do it in my new game ++
Have fun man!
Plague Maidens and Penitants are the coolest wraiths in The Witcher by far in my opinion

That is very interesting! Good info, I hope you did well on your course!
If you bring her remains to the town doesn't everyone catch the plague.
Are there other plague maidens other then this one?
there's at least one other in the world, i know that much
Cockitrace or botchling. Gargoyle or golem
You should do some summary videos on the witcher books and what transpires throughout each.
Good idea man!
Enjoy 2019 you beautiful bastards
Thanks mate
Enjoy 2020 you beautiful bastard
when will you upload a new witcher 3 part?
Wednesday!
I remember seeing this the first time, Scared the living shyte out of me I had to pause and breathe for a while.
Damn I did this quest wrong 😂🤣 I brought her bones to him and left then she killed him lol just heard him scream and I came back in and he was dead
Wait im confused i thought he died he did in my play through i brought him her bones and then i went back into his house not a minute later and that wraith was standing over his dead body what did i do wrong
Who else took her bones to the guy and got him killed
🙋♀️
I regretted helping Annabelle so much that when I completed the game I started over so I could go back and kill her.
Ηappy new year!!
You too!
Its not called Eredin. its YURDEN
I felt so bad when I realized what the woman actually was. A little codex thing popped up saying that she might have caused a big plague appear, and seeing as I thought this was the only outcome to the mission, I was hesitant to repeat it on my second playthrough.
It's a creepy mission, I fell so bad for her!
BTW pest is the German word for plauge
Get in there, it’s festering, find the place they call the putrid grove. What’s that smell? Shat himself like a novice.
What I do wonder is what happens when annabelle is appeased as the plague did start before her since its not really covered as a whole.
I believe that there is a possibility Keira can find a cure!
graham actually kissed her dude holy shit.
To dark to see anything
Wa t does jolly rancher font have to do with the Witcher?
What
Talk about tongue action am I right? No? Just me? Ok.
