I managed to get mine in a January sale believe it or not and it is a truly incredible handheld and I have experienced no slowdown whatsoever regardless of which system I am playing and by adding the Play Store and its huge downloadable game library and other apps it is more like having a mini portable tablet The screen is on another level to my Anbernic 351P handheld and so is the sound quality. It fully charges in just a couple of hours after you have given it its initial charge and loads up in about 20 seconds. This is a five star handheld in every way.
According to a handful of reviews, it has trouble playing PS2 and GameCube games. That's kinda disappointing considering the price when you can get a Retroid Pocket 2+ for $114 and an Odin Pro for just over $200 that both play PS2 and GC games excellent out of the box.

Or is the unit itself?, I've not really found any answers so looks like it will have to be returned and refund, can't have a bad issue like that with charging.
Loving my 552 thus far despite some issue on Android. At this price, one shouldn’t see the device solely for a retro handheld, the RG552 is an Android Retro handheld with very neat screen. The color saturation will blow you away. There is a built-in key mapper for android games, it is truly an all-in-one device for entertainment purposes. I use it for browsing, netflix, youtube, mobile gaming, emulation gaming, social networking, music etc.

I have this and I think it's a fantastic device. I also have the Retroid Pocket 2+. Both have their pros and cons. The RG552 has a much better screen, better controls, dual analog sticks with L3 and R3 functions, and dual boots. 351ELEC pre-release on the RG552 is damn near perfect. The RP 2+ is a steal at $99 and can play higher end systems like GameCube and PS2 nicely, but the lack of L3 and R3 hurt, and their launcher needs some work. There's no reason to have a game, lets say, "Dig Dug" and "Dig Dug 2" to have the same exact box art and the same name after scraping. Scraping a MAME set is a nightmare. Looks like hot garbage with all the letter icons and no box art. I don't get that on my RG552. Everything has box art, preview videos, and even game manuals on the majority of my games. I'm glad I got both of them though. They are both fun to tinker around with and they keep me entertained while I wait for the Steam Deck... eventually....
