      Those industrial machines are usually inexpensive and have great arcs quality. Their weight makes them shop-only but the high amp output when you want it is glorious. I've a Miller 340 (not 330 which is also a beast) capable of over 500A output I got for 250 bucks because the seller didn't know it worked on single phase (I download Miller and Lincoln manuals for the old machines from their websites before deciding to buy). I don't do heavy TIG on aluminum at the moment but that will be quite handy with a liquid cooled torch.

    I'm jumping in here before the end. The hose seems to be standard on Chinese plasma cutters. 8mm is 5/16. Your solution heat the hose is what I did too. Your previous 200 amp stick machine review was pretty good. I like seeing guys in the trades reviewing tool. That cable was light and got hot. To be fair, I have a Lincoln 175 TIG I bought new 25 years and paid $2k for it has the same undersized cables. I swoped those out first. I think most of these new inverter welders come with undersized cables and guns. I have a few I bought just for fun. I have a Lincoln mig 255 in my shop, but that Chinese welder is so easy to grab and do a quick repair with it.

    Thanks for the review and all the other use you have done with this machine over the last few months. Seeing a "real" welder turn out regular jobs was enough for me. I was needing to replace my MIG machine but didn't want to spend a lot. So, I pulled the trigger on an Arc Captain. It performs even better than I hoped. I had a Tweco Euro gun that plugged right in. So far, I'm really liking it. My only complaint is they changed the power cord and plug adapter from the one you have so it now defaults to 240 (NEMA 6-50) and has an adapter for 120 (NEMA 5-15) like most other welders. I have a few dual voltage machines and like to keep them with 120 plugs so I can use the same extension cord for either voltage. But I understand that requires the user to have a brain so the lawyers say no.

  • @umahunter
    @umahunter 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Another thing I've found with a lil 120 machines on anything thicker than 065 095 tube you really need to clean off any mill scale etc to clean metal to get good penetration if not your using most of the juice to burn through the millscale

  • @umahunter
    @umahunter 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The thing with those machines they say will run on 120 you usually need a dedicated 20 amp plug and breaker with larger than 14 gauge wire most common household wireing is either to thin 14 gauge or has to many other things on the same circuit which will continually trip the breaker when the machine trys to pull to much juice it's usually because the wireing for plugs n switches is just to small at 14 gauge regardless of its a 20 amp breaker you need thicker wire to handle the current it's trying to pull 👍👍👍

  • @larryvollmar8763

    Hey Greg recently found your channel and love the work you put out. I’m in the same kind of work, run a service/welding/line bore truck. Wanted to ask you, I have never dealt much with plasma and wanting to setup my truck with one here soon. I don’t have 3 phase power on my truck and wanted to see if you have any recommendations

    • @OFW
      @OFW  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well figure out how much power you have and get the biggest plasma you can run. Your typical trailblazer has 10,000 watts of power and can run a hypertherm 45 very well. You can run a Hypertherm 65 off of a 400D

    • @evanfrucht
      @evanfrucht 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most plasma cutting machines don't need 3 phase.

    • @scrapmanindustries
      @scrapmanindustries 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As someone who runs both a hypertherm 30xp and a thermal dynamics 58i the hypertherms are way better. My little 30 amp hypertherm can almost keep up with the bigger thermal dynamics. Hypertherms have way better torches and consumables. If you don’t have a huge generator then stay with the hypertherm 45xp. Them things are pretty sweet. I just run a 10/3 wire from the generator to the plasma machine. My air compressor sucks and won’t keep up with it but for small bursts it works out.

    Hi 👋. Northern Michigan here. I'm curious about warranty, and that's it. I personally find the welder to be just barely adequate for hobby use. I will admit that I haven't much love for these dime a dozen welders. None of them will run reliably on 110. They just won't. This welder was made for someone who doesn't necessarily know any better. I only really watched out of respect for you. Your work proves your opinion is likely sound. I hope you have a great day.

      Our machine has a two-year warranty.If any internal failure occurs, our team can help you answer your questions very well. And under 110v, we recommend using a 35-50 amps breaker, which will work stably

      I believe it is brand specific.

    • @darkfibres
      @darkfibres 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's an EURO connector, so plenty of other guns would be suitable. (checked with the manual, don't have this machine at hand). The other connectors look to be DINSE connectors. No size specified in the manual, but those come in 9mm '10-25' and 13mm '35-50' (and larger) with the largest number being the largest mm2 sq cable that can be fitted. (25 mm2 ~ 3 or 4 AWG). Probably DINSE 10-25.

      @johnscott2849 14 gauge wire (by code) requires no larger than a 15amp breaker. In my experience, even that is enough current to burn the wire up when my air compressor was running non-stop. Claiming it'll handle 30 amps is just blowing smoke up everyone's ass.

    This machine can cut 3/4 a inch of steel it all depends on Air pressure you are feeding it I have one and it cuts half a inch easily its a good machine for 200$ I would think a 3000$ plasma cutter would beat it I mean I hope so but one Thing I would like to ask is why does a Flux core welder why do Worm holes happen way more than Mig I mean I know why because trapped gas from the flux shielding gets trapped but why does it happen a lot with Flux core I have always asked this question in many youtube vids and no one could tell me why But Arc Captain so far has made me over 10k in welding repair just around my City area for the Price you can easily kick start a welding business and then buy expensive engine drive welders but the one I HIGHLY recommend is the Lincoln Electric Ranger 330MPX it cost 8k and what you get with the machine is nice the technology in this welder is NICE but What Arc captain offers for a Hood is Awesome some people say it beats Lincoln it kinda does not 100% but 100% when it comes to battery life Lincoln clear view lens cost a lot of money and eats battery QUICKLY Nice Video

      If you're not trying to be mobile, I would honestly go with a machine that has a transformer. They last way longer. If you're a hobbyist/diy person who welds just to accomplish the things you actually like doing, I would reccomend a mig welder that also does stick. HF has some good deals and you can easily take it back to the store.
