    I've always been curious what the various layouts did to the bowling ball. Thank you so much for a through explanation. And the fact the average bowler, like me, wouldn't notice much at my level as I'm re-learning how to bowl with these new balls as of 1/2024. Note: I have not bowled since 1997 so 25 years of technology has made my AMF "Angle" somewhat obsolete and don't even fit my hand anymore!

    Can't wait to see the asymmetrical seminar. Would love to see some fresh insight and a real explanation on the reason you get the different reactions based on where the mb is located. Also why some bowlers just don't match up well with asymmetricals.

I knew your name sounded familiar, a buddy of mine wanted me to watch this video because you seem to have the same view as I have on asymmetrical weight blocks. Anyways I'm terrible with names but when I saw who you were, light bulb came on... Long story short the Track In2ition is the asyms last shot in my bag. Using all the information I have on the way my ball rolls and being a precise as possible it was determined that 50 x 5 x 45 would be more than ideal. Sad news and same result … Squirty and condition specific once again

    I have a 15lb Venom Shock that I haven’t drilled yet until I find out my PAP. I bowl right handed in the “angular” style being shown in this video. Is the angular layout shown here a generic that would need to be adjusted based on the Venom Shock specs, my PAP, and my finger span? Oh also very important I am a no thumb bowler with no thumb hole, or balance hole as well. I do not bowl two handed though. I believe last time my ball was drilled the pro shop took my span measurements including the thumb for mock up measuring purposes. Then when it came time to drill just drilled the middle and ring finger holes, and left the thumb out. I’m not sure it that’s how they should have did it though? 😆. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Ron I see that in your video reviews for the new bowling balls coming out that you have the same layout. Is that ball drilled for you based upon your specs? Hey Ron,
    Here's my question. I'm looking at the Angular layout from the video, 45x5x30. I'm curious of your thoughts on these pin to pap distances, when dealing with Low Tilt bowlers. Both Radical and Storm will strongly suggest bowlers with less than 10 degrees of tilt stay in the 3.25-4" range for Pin to Pap. I was hoping you could shed some light on how safe it is to use 5" pin to paps and how it corresponds to tilt retention when specifically looking for that Angular Shape for bowlers with less than 10 degrees of tilt.
    Thanks.

    • @Ctdbowling
      @Ctdbowling  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Low tilt means the ball will tend to roll early. I would go the other way with like a 5.5 inch pin. To help the ball lose as little energy as possible. I also would stick to more symmetrical balls.

      The Dual Angle Layout is about how to achieve a desired ball track. FYI this only affects 2 to 7% of ball performance.
      The first number 45 degrees is the drilling angle. The higher the angle the longer the ball will stay in the skid phase.
      The second number is the Pin to PAP measurement. This determines how much of the potential weight block flare will be employed. In this example layout, 5”, the weight block is moderately energized.
      The last number is the VAL angle 📐. This number determines how long the ball stays in the hook phase. Lower the angle the quicker the ball transitions to the roll phase. 30 degrees VAL angle will make the ball have a strong backend transition.
      In summary the 45 x 5 x 30 ball layout will be best for a bowler that has good rev rate and speed that will hook at around 35’ - medium flare, and angular “Snap” at the breakpoint to deliver maximum power roll to the pin deck.
      This layout is for an asymmetrical ball. Lower rev bowlers would be best to go with a 3 3/8 to 4” Pin to PAP.
      Surface is the most influential to ball performance. Up to 53 to 60%.

    putting inserts in the ball or just simply being within an inch or 2 of the pin voids the warranty too. I would geuss more times than not the warranties arent worth what they are written on and it really comes down to the shop you go to if you get it replaced or not.

      Thing is with the gb2 weight block every inch and an eighth you move the pin from your pap you hit a new RG plane. So there really is no difference between a 4 inch pin and a 4.5. Idk just seems like a very popular commonly used layout for a bowler like that to smash the thumb that much.

Too many drop the ball at the foul line. Too many have thumb holes not fitted right. Too many using balls way too heavy for their wrists.
