A laser engraver or laser cutting tool is something I have wanted to work with for a long time. And now I have one in the shop, it's the Longer Ray5 laser engraver! I unpack, assemble and test this tool on various materials I typically use in my builds.

Hey Odin, turn your base into a down draft table to hold down the foam and thin wood etc, should also help with fume extraction. Basicaly, drill out the center of your grid, then build a box on the bottom of it, seal it with wood glue and make a hole big enough for a shop vacuum hose.

Sweet! I have a couple of the ORTUR LM2 20 watt units and they have been great for me. Just got the pro with air assist and I do plan to cut/ engrave some foam.
So much more you can do with that laser Odin. Love to show you some prop based tricks, and keep you safe when using technology! Come check us out Odin!
Looks good, one thing that comes to mind is armour pieces like shoulder plates with designs embossed on them i.e. Warhammer. You could maybe also do a two colour,two layer cut so the colour beneath is revealed in the design.

Hi Odin, diode lasers has some limitations, for instance the wave Leigh reflects white and bright colors and for transparencies the light just past through, that's why the white foam didn't burn all the way through and the black cut all
Can try adding on a small spirit level and adjustable legs on the MDF Board.
I really want a laser etcher so I can make some cool trinkets to sell if I ever get back to going to conventions. Every time I see a new review for one I start looking at prices.

Cool beans! Lasers are so much fun. A word of major caution, though. Make very sure you don't laser anything made of PVC! It will create cyanide gas and that will be very bad. If it doesn't kill you, it will eat up all of the electronics of your laser as well.

Maybe you can laser cut a housing for it to vent fumes!

Do you have any plans for managing ventilation? The smoke from burning that much wood (or foam!) must get thick over time.

Ooh. That'd be a nifty way to get woodgrain or scale texture on a piece. Or Celtic knotwork. So how do those burned areas look when they're painted?
The lower power cuts look really good, they should paint fine. The bottom is not always perfect flat when deep. But 30% at 4000mm should make a really, REALLY good wood grain.
hello odin, I'm a fan of your work and I was even able to make my stormbreaker because of your video and I'm interested in making a moon knight mask and the truth is that it's very recent there aren't many references I don't know if you could make the mask (any of the two), I admire you.
I like that Gundam tattoo that's cool since you made the human size Gundam oh I think that might be a little too hard to put that tattoo on that Gundam it seems pretty cool to go on a Gundam keep going

FYI: Don't try to cut PVC. According to my makerspace, doing so creates chlorine gas.

I have not, and I will. I know acrylic works, it is one of the better plastics to cut.

I would definitely say invest or build a fumextractor that way you don't have to wear mask as much and your shop doesn't smell like burnt leathery bacon
