    Hello and welcome. This is an instructional video on how to replace a broken side mirror on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. The factory OEM part was going to cost me over $500 CDN with taxes so I opted to go with after market which turned out to be an exact match aesthetically and functionally. I'm very happy with my choice to pick up an aftermarket and everything works and functions as expected. The replacement took about an hour to do. Just be very careful with the clips that hold the triangular cover panel when removing. Ensure these do not fall into the holes as Toyota wants $5.41 per piece.

    Appreciate the video!! Just a quick note for anyone doing this in the future, when you're installing the panel back into the door, go from the top down. Snapping the lip of window is a lot easier when you go from top to bottom.

    Great job breaking down the removal and installation. Was able to use this to replace my passenger side mirror on my 2020 Tacoma. Rock Auto had the mirror for a fraction of the cost of going to a dealer and saved hundreds of dollars doing it myself. Thank you!

      Hi Lauren, sorry to hear about your little accident but you can definitely manage this fix... it's easier than it looks! For the round stickers that cover the holes, instead of peeling them off, just simply poke/push right in the center of it and it'll come off easily. Good luck, thanks for tuning in and I hope to see you again on my other videos!

    Question boss.. my dumb self ended up breaking this thru the garage. I have an ST5 do you know I can upgrade for the turn signal ones ?

    • @modXELA
      @modXELA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on some readings, it doesn't look like your model is pre-wired for this. You will have to run wires. Here's a note from a blog, "I actually inquired with Toyota service department as well as parts departments before I ended up buying my TRD Sport, about the possibility of swapping out TRD style mirrors with those that come on SR5 models. It is NOT as simple as plug and play. There are no wires on the SR5 for the turn signals as there are on the TRD models. So as others have suggested, you would have to run another wire and connect it to the signals to make it work. That was one of the things I liked about the TRD versions, over the SR5, being the nice mirrors on the TRD with the turn signals in them." I hope this helps!

    Can the back be exposed to rain/moisture? Will it damage any wires/fuses?

    • @modXELA
      @modXELA  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jordan, I suppose that exposure to rain/moisture is unavoidable for any exterior unit but the wires should hold. Fuses won't be a concern as there's no internal fuse in the housing. It's been over a year since I did this install and it's been through winter last year and again this year and so far, everything's working as expected so this is a good indication.

      I mean I gave them the vin number for the part so I can’t imagine they gave me the wrong part

      @@shanvirjhawer4589 sure, you can try that to check wiring on the harness to ensure proper contact.
