I met Mew2King once at a midwest local about 4 years ago. He was the only big pro that traveled here and probably spent more money in travel than he won. I can confirm that everyone cheered against him and even shamed my friend and I for cheering for him. M2K had previously offered to play friendlies with me and others, was a sweetheart from my experience of him. He truly inspired me to play more competitively and it breaks my heart to see him treated so badly. I wish I'd cheered louder for him back in the day, I can hardly imagine how difficult it is to be the top player in community that hates you for it.
It's very sad to see that happen to a person, to be disliked just for being the best at something he loves doing. It's also very understandable from the other side, though. To have the same person dominating the game time after time after time is extremely demoralizing for everyone else. If it's always going to be the same person winning every time, then there's no reason for anyone else to compete. So they have to see that he can be beaten.

I'm honestly depressed I loved zero and he was such a big inspiration, o made my playstyle around him and got competitive due to the motivation I got through watching his guides, I even mained diddy cause of him now all I get is the shame and horrible feeling in my stomach of playing diddy like zero while trying to accomplish something as great as he did. I miss him and wish that none of this ever happened, so many players did this and it's just sad, I wish that we could turn back time and find these mistakes

The most I ever celebrated a professional game of Smash was when M2K beat Leffen 6-0. I remember it being common place back then for people to say that M2K was washed up and wasn't even a threat anymore so when Leffen also mirrored this opinion, I couldn't be more hyped when he absolutely rocked him with 3 different characters. Superb stuff, my favourite player of all time.
Whenever I watch him play to this day, regardless of prior performance in any given tournament, that 6-0 flashes through my mind like an anime montage and I'm like, 'nah M2K got this easy'

He has played Mewtwo in tournaments occasionally and it was really fun to watch but yeah it's hard to find many dedicated mewtwo players.
I actually have asperger's and I've never been good in social situations but mew2king has been a role model to me. (As well as you zero) you both inspire me to improve on characters I use and mental health

Zero these are my favorite none-gameplay videos. PLEASE do more like this. I love the stories.
Man the struggles of being the best are real. Hbox is dealing with that now. I think he has finally accepted it but there are many tournament wins where you can see how hurt he is about people being against him. Leo kinda had the same thing but its hard to hate leo for anything because he doesn't have a bad playstyle or anything annoying. Leo is smart as hell and looked at how other got treated because they popped off too much or played campy so now leo shows up wins waves to the crowd and leaves and stays quiet which is smart.
M2K is still my favorite god and I hope he comes back to take the top in melee again.

My little brother is on the spectrum and M2K has always shown me that is isnt just a disability, it can have advantages in some way, which gives me hope. sometimes its hard to realize that when i see my little brother struggle but M2K reminds me every time, which is one of many reasons why i love him so much.
Yeah, your little brother may end up struggling on the socializing side, but don't view it as a handicap. Aspies and other high-functioning autistics are capable of quite a bit, including socializing.

I just see how difficult school is for him and i wonder how he will do later on. Not with the subjects and test, but with the people and the strucure surrounding him. And that wont change his entire life. But M2K made it work nontheless and with something he loved.

I just figured Mopsmic Sama's brother was high-functioning as well. That's just how I think when it comes to autism, I guess.
I think this just proves that smash should become a streamed event for spectators cuz instances like this M2K vs Ocean or Mars vs I don't remember the player's tag cuz yeah but we can remember the pokemon player who was being coached from the crowd 1 of the spectator was coaching the player Mars was playing

I personally enjoy your videos where you talk about smash players and experiences giving your own personal insight and backstory, such as this video, or videos where you talked about K9 etc. I think it would be cool if you made a series like this called "The Truth About ..." where you talk about a specific player/event that you think would interest the viewers. Ofc you know a lot more about M2K because of your long friendship but I think everyone would be super interested in what experiences you have with other top players
