As a former resident of the Northern VA/DC/Maryland area, I actually do know what he's going on about in that rant about the Baltimore Orioles' stadium, but it's still hilarious that he gets so worked up about it.
George’s opinion constantly shifting around and how he keeps saying “we” tells me that I think he just asked like, a half dozen people their opinion on a game, writes it down, then instead of taking all of the information and forming a cohesive opinion from both sides, he just reads it off verbatim. With no rhyme or reason.
@@MrFutago87 Lol I had the same thought, he may have asked God, his dead father, Hitler, and his evil twin, but I can't imagine him talking with other real people. He just seems...too "off" for human conversation in my imagination.
He mentioned that he only has one N64 controller in the Goldeneye review so he couldn't do the multiplayer, which is...like...how are you a game reviewer if you don't have a second controller?
Looking into it, I'm pretty sure George was just the host of the show. He never actually played the games and almost completely improvised all his reviews while watching the gameplay footage someone else on his staff recorded.
Doesn't change the fact that a lot of his takes on these games sound like a psychotic old man discovering technology for the first time when his car was powered by actual horses.
George wasn't reading a script. His deranged personality let slip the dogs of war, and we glimpsed momentarily at the beast that dwells within his heart.
My theory: George was a satirist ripping incompetent journalists a new one. EDIT: Some updates. Apparently, Flights of Fantasy was a COMIC BOOK SHOW first and foremost, which explains why he wasn't very good at video games. As well, I have formulated a theory. I think that somebody else played the video games for the footage and George just riffed over them.
Only this time, he doesn’t just complain about how hard the games are, but actively tells the viewers how to cheat at them. I guess the show’s good for that, at least; I love cheat codes. Hell, even nowadays I use a lot of cheat codes in games like Spore and Minecraft to mess around or do things I know I can do already, but require tedium I don’t have time for otherwise.
For anyone curious about the story behind the ARG. In 2006 NAVGTR posted a statement on their site that George wood had died, then in 2013, 9 years later, they private all their vids and posted a arg, which is why George says "im not dead." In the vid. But after backlash from fans they eventually canceled the arg. I don't know if it's finished but I do know the rest.

"Legend of Zelda, not as good as the original for some reason." For SOME REASON? You are a reviewer! It's supposed to be your JOB to give the REASON! What in the nine hells is this!?
To be fair he did say "Some UNKNOWN reason...." I guess the reason was too much for our tiny mortal brains. We're not the mighty being George after all...
His first problem was saying A Link to the Past (which he apparently refused to identify given the clip) is worse than Zelda 1. I don't think there is a soul on this planet of over seven billion people that will tell you Zelda 1 ever beats ALttP.
@@UltimaKeyMaster There actually are quite a few people who prefer Zelda 1 to ALttP because it's more open-ended, and they think that ALttP is too easy and linear. I disagree, but that's an actual argument you can make. Not this "some unknown reason" BS :D

Fun fact: In the US, we'll sometimes refer to presidents rather than years or decades, although it's quite rare. For example, the name "Gaming in the Clinton Years" means "gaming from 1993 to 2001". I've mostly heard it when people are referring to something being outdated ("'_____'? You mean that thing from the Bush administration?") or an event (Nixon's presidency is synonymous for a lot of people with the Vietnam War and the start of the War On Drugs). Edit: Made it clear that this is in no way a common thing, and I've only heard it said a few times. Edit 2: It's a lot like how the UK uses "Victorian Era", except it refers to a much shorter period of time.
It's a result of changing leadership so often, every 4-8 years the entire culture of America can be drastically different. It helps to encapsulate the state of the country similar to decades. "The Clinton Years" technically means "The Late Nineties," but it has a different cultural connotation

And all those people with different opinions are in his head.
@@MrFutago87 Lol I had the same thought, he may have asked God, his dead father, Hitler, and his evil twin, but I can't imagine him talking with other real people. He just seems...too "off" for human conversation in my imagination.

That would be understandable... but it's still weird that he both praises and facepalms at still image endings.

Edit 2: It's a lot like how the UK uses "Victorian Era", except it refers to a much shorter period of time.
...But why?.... well I guess I shouldn't asked too many questions, its the USA we're talking about here.
It's a result of changing leadership so often, every 4-8 years the entire culture of America can be drastically different. It helps to encapsulate the state of the country similar to decades. "The Clinton Years" technically means "The Late Nineties," but it has a different cultural connotation
