Honestly, the 'so good you'll notice it's good' actually makes sense. Not all games are so good they make you think 'wow, this is good' while playing.

I learned something interesting about the show where the reviews come from. Flights of Fantasy wasn't meant to be a video game show. It was originally about comic book, with TV shows, movies and games meant to pass time. It switched to video games due to the speculator boom in the 90's that led to the comic book crash. That explains why he says such weird crap in his reviews, he was a comic book guy.

Honestly in some ways it seems like they were still not properly adapted for boats of that size yet and not properly respecting the challenges of it because of how fast they were growing in such a short span.

Looking into it, I'm pretty sure George was just the host of the show.
He never actually played the games and almost completely improvised all his reviews while watching the gameplay footage someone else on his staff recorded.
That would be understandable... but it's still weird that he both praises and facepalms at still image endings.

George’s opinion constantly shifting around and how he keeps saying “we” tells me that I think he just asked like, a half dozen people their opinion on a game, writes it down, then instead of taking all of the information and forming a cohesive opinion from both sides, he just reads it off verbatim. With no rhyme or reason.
And all those people with different opinions are in his head.

@@mrummgoat53 this games would have been tapes for home computers. Tapes are alot cheaper to produce than the cartridges used by systems that were more popular in America than Europe.
