When it first appeared in '83 it was in competition with the Kawasaki GPZ 750, claimed to be the fastest 1/4 mile in 11.93 sec. Honda VF75 Interceptor, 1/4 mile in 12.5 sec. & Suzuki GS750E/ES, 1/4 mile in 13 sec.
I bought the GS750E as it was ~$400 cheaper than the Honda VF75 but trust me I was not disappointed! This bike is strong on acceleration & steers really quick! Compression ratio is less than the Honda & Kawa & may be one reason it may be a "tad" slower but don't be fooled, it's strong, it's fast! For those so inclined & with the $$$ there are mod kits to drastically improve the power of this bike!
Now 2022 & I still have the bike with 32K on the odometer! It's in show room/mint condition & still a beast at acceleration! When I ride I don't see any '83 classics on the road anymore! Suzuki GS750E...hard to part with this babe!!!

What was your opinion of the GS750E? How did it compare to the other fours?

I had one of these, the sound it made with the Yoshi pipe was music to my ears, this thing sounded amazing and super tight. Im 6'3" and 260lbs, this bike was beefy and the perfect size for a big guy like me. Kicking myself for selling it.

I own a 1983 Suzuki GSX 750 ES with two-to-one pipes. It sounds like a groub B rally engine, and it is such a good engine.

I bought the first one in Knoxville, TN in 1983. Awesome bike I use to melt tires on this thing. I think I paid $3,500 new.

I owned one in 1983 & used it for club racing. Unfortunately, I crashed it on the track, & the gas tank split open & the bike burned on the track. That was the end of my club racing & ownership of that bike. Too Bad-I really like that bike, but I couldn't afford to buy another one.

Another great bike from the eighties I lived in Columbus Ohio I was going to college and used to go window shopping at one of the local dealers ASK power sports but they had dozens of these bikes in crates in 1987 that sat unsold by chance I ran into a man and wife that were having his gs 700 e being serviced I started talking to him about it and his wife cut in and said you want to buy it it caught me off guard she went on about her bad experience on it they had a low speed crash she was 5 months pregnant but she said it is for sale 900.00 dollars I said are you serious she said yes I want it gone of course I was like yeah 900 and it's yours I could not pass that up and ended up buying it . I wish I could have that luck today seems like back in the 80s and 90s I had quite a few different bikes that I got at bargain prices. But with life's ups and downs my wife got me to get rid of some of the bikes I had .these days I have videos by Kaplan to watch and reminisce of the good days past. One of these days I have to visit the museum looking forward to it till then keep up the good work and the videos you guys do a beautiful job with these bikes.

Keep in mind GSXR 750 was just about to jump off 1984 so Suzuki was in limbo as for a direction for this bike as they were releasing the ground breaking GSXR . It and GSXR 1100 R were the racing machines .

I bought mine new as a left over in 1984. Rode it from Wisconsin to California and back. Most comfortable stock seat on any bike I have owned. Put many miles on it great motorcycle.

They did put the tscc on the ES? I have one on my 83 GS750T and its an animal. The beginning of the GSX motors really, id say we both own a piece of Suzuki as well as sportbike history.

I think in 1984 they put a 700 instead of the 750 in the usa market , i just to have the 750 e model in burgundy , with a bikini fairing , it was fast but you have to rev it up , to get the power , very reliable bikes and only one year model

Yes...I bought mine in spring 1983. Terrific acceleration second only to the Honda VFR750 of the same year. After 35 years I still have it purring & mint condition with 34K km. I don't see these bikes on the road anymore.
