Thank you for showing what I'm supposed to do when I get the console back - it's going to prevent me from doing nonsense and ruining your work. 👍

Kind of wish it was this easy on the PAL ones.

Yeah but on the bright side, we got 50Hz... Oh wait... ^-^ Deblur is a great feature, truly a game changer for anyone playing on a modern TV so, the others mods are still worth the trouble in most cases.

@@SLRModShop I can imagine, I'm still assessing the situation. I've recently bought an S-Video cable and the picture does indeed appear to be better than composite but I'd still like to get my hands on a RetroTINK 5x first, to determine whether or not I feel I need to RGB mod mine.

@@hadesmcc Svideo is great, going from svideo to RGB is not worth it if you have to pay for it. If you have svideo, the only reason to upgrade would be for Deblur and then RGB would be a bonus. The cheapest way to do that is by installing TW's board... Although, now that I think of it, RT5X might be able to do deblur... So, you'd be all set actually

My friend you helped me in the past and now i encounter a new problem.i have performed this mod a few times with ease, however the n64 i have is a nus cpu 03 with a vcd nus A chipset (a compatible n64). I have installed a basic rgb chip and got no signal figuring the chip was defective. So i bought another one and have the same issue. I have removed c22 r16, r15, r14 and r1 as per borti instructions and installed the synch to r16 via. No shorts everything soldered and triple checked. But when i boot i get sometimes a message on my tv saying invalid signal or no signal and rarely a purple pink messy image and then black. Perhaps it is the cable? I am using a bitfunx aliexpress rgb ypbpr cable

Hey man, if you'e confident with your work, then your next step is to suspect the video cable. I'd recommend either buying the NTSC RGB cable from RetroGamingCable or to rewire the one you have now, or rewire the mod you've done to comply with your cable.
If I had to guess, the cable you're using is wired 'wrong'.
open your console, plug the cable in. Do a continuity test between the SCART head and the AV connector in the console.
I think that basically, your issue is that you're sending the sync signal to the wrong pin. It should be as easy to fix as changing the sync wire from one pin to another one.
Basically, sync can go through composite, luma or c-sync. Check what your cable needs and wire your console like that OR check how your console is set up and wire your cable accordingly.

@@SLRModShop thank you again. Words cannot tell how much I appreciate your help. I will tamper with the cable and check the continuity.

@@SLRModShop figured it out. So the r g and b line required 220uf caps in series. And since i bought the cable i figured it had them. Turns out they didnt. So i installed them and now we have an rgb signal!
