This one took a while to make, I hope you like some of my Top 50 games from this awesome console. Let me know your favorites as well.
The Nintendo 64[a] (N64), stylized as NINTENDO64, is a home video game console developed and marketed by Nintendo. Named for its 64-bit central processing unit, it was released in June 1996 in Japan, September 1996 in North America and Brazil, March 1997 in Europe and Australia, and September 1997 in France. It was the last major home console to use the cartridge as its primary storage format until the Nintendo Switch in 2017.[7] The Nintendo 64 was discontinued in mid-2002 following the launch of its successor, the GameCube, in 2001.
Codenamed "Project Reality", the Nintendo 64 design was mostly complete by mid-1995, but its launch was delayed until 1996, when Time named it Machine of the Year.[8] It was launched with three games: Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64 (worldwide) and Saikyō Habu Shōgi (exclusive to Japan). As part of the fifth generation of gaming, the system competed primarily with the Sony PlayStation and the Sega Saturn. The suggested retail price at its United States launch was US$199.99, and 32.93 million units were sold worldwide. In 2015, IGN named it the ninth greatest video game console of all time.
Newer games look fantastic, but there's always gonna be a place in my heart for those lo fi graphics.
Me too. I will always love the simplicity of plugging in a cartridge and getting reliable simple fun. Did you know that discs experience what they call "disc rot"? After about 20 years it starts to set in. Meanwhile, our cartridge games last forever.

It brings our childhood back when these graphics were realistic & we used to talk about them in school buses, playgrounds in evenings & no mobiles, no internet life was beautiful & simple back then ( if u are 90s kid )

I'd never played them at the time but I have been discovering and rediscovering a load of N64 games I missed over the years so I am maybe planning a Top 100 to do all the great games justice.

@@StevieROM It also needs to include Mrs. Pac-Man: Maze Madness (this is a top 50 list, so there was a lot of room to put this underrated gem on the list)!

Missing Goemon’s Great Adventure, Ogre Battle 64 and Harvest Moon 64.
I'm working on a Top 100 that includes games I missed back when they came out. I've been buying games based on recommendations for a while now.

WWF NO MERCY AT 47? You must off missed out on that game. Most consider it to be the GOAT of pro wrestling games.
Even to this very day NO MERCY continues to be supported with hundreds of fan made mods alongside many hugely active forums of gamers that love the game.
WWF NO MERCY should of been in the top 10 at the very least.
I hear this a lot regarding NO MERCY, I do love the game but I haven't played it nearly as much as the games higher up the list. I should maybe give it more play time and reevaluate the list. I did play the N64 less around 2000/ 2001 and was playing more Dreamcast and PS2 games. Too many greats at the same time. 😁
Well I can't argue with that reply. I'm pretty sure I played my DC more than any other console I've ever owned. 9•9•99 was the beginning of the end for my N64 and WWF NO MERCY. The end being the launch of SEGA'S library of online games.
If you do actually decide to try NO MERCY again. Download an emulator for your mobile device and play it. I've actually played NO MERCY on my phone more than I did on my N64. With all the mods, downloadable hi-res textures and smooth animation the game holds up well. Same thing with the Dreamcast. The REDREAM APP is a flawless DC emulator for Android.
@@noshowjoe6596 I didn't even know those things existed for Android. I usually go old school and hook up my actual console to an hdmi converter. Some of my games are also from the wii u store and rare replay on xbox. 😁
@@StevieROM Yeah there are two Dreamcast emulators in the Google play store market. RieCast and ReDream. RieCast is awful but ReDream works great. Just download some dreamcast ROMs online and find yourself a Bluetooth gamepad for your phone and you are good to go.

No way every one loved the n64 bk in the day and still do probley the most loved console back then and now

@@blankchannel7656 most people had both console ps1 and n64 and loved both of them im not saying the n64 was better than the ps1 but no one stayed clear of the n64 because they thought it wasint very good every one loved the n64 and ps1 and more than likely got a n64 when it came out 2 years after ps1 and probley spent hour and hours with ther friends playing 4 players

South Park 64 is fun, forgot about that game. I need to try clay fighters and Mario Party is one series I never really got into, strange with me being such a big Nintendo fan.

That's a nightmare when something like that happens. I bought Turok for £70 then found out it didn't save on the cartridge so I had to fork out another £20 for a memory pak. Good Times. 😁

in my opinion. the 64 had the greatest line up of games of all nintendo consoles. the only one that came close to me when thinking this over is the snes.
It's the 3rd party games that suffered the most on the N64 but Nintendo more than made up for it with some quality stuff.

Mr. Potato I think this is because i just played and complete these 2 games now in 2020 on quarantine, and I liked Majora more than Ocarina, i don't know exactly why, maybe because i did play Majora first. Sorry my english, i'm Brazilian

I'm a PS Guy too, and I want to buy this console too, but it's 100$ in my country. But it comes with GoldenEye and 2 controllers.
Yes obviously it would be great if you could have every game from a generation on one console. But why would Nintendo games be on the Playstation? That's so ridiculous it's never talked about. It's just a given that the N64 and PS1 were complete opposites and competitors, the PS1 having Mario 64 was the least likely thing to happen in the world.

Body harvest is the most underrated. Great game, maybe one of my all time favorite. The fact that if it was nt for that game younger generation never see gta or other thing is self-explanatory. That game deserve to be In the top five. Too ahead of its time. People complain about the graphic clearly never play the game. Great story and absolutely great freedom.still one of the best. Always remember the cheat that gain the 155mm howitzer rifle. Still the most powerful weapon I ever see in a game ahahaha.blow one shot and you fly through the map. Unarrivable power ahahhah
I hope now that Microsoft and Nintendo seem to be on good terms, this makes the addition of classic Rare games possible on a potential N64 Classic. I just cannot imagine it working without iconic games of the era like Banjo, 007, Perfect Dark, etc.
I would love to see that too and agree, even though a N64 mini with only Nintendo's games would be good, it wouldn't be great without the Rare collection.
I would even settle for a Rare Replay that had all the missing Nintendo games.

Awesome list, I've only started playing the Mario Party Games and I've yet to play Pokemon Stadium 2. I'm still collecting and playing a lot of N64 games so I'll be working on a newer and hopefully bigger list in the future.
Rocket: Robot on Wheels is still one of my favorite platformers

It has aged very well. Still feels like a new game.
Pokemon Stadium and 007 bring back awesome memories. You know what's funny I believe Conker was in Diddy racing as a promo before his persona changed

I watched this video to get some nostalgia. It kind of made me realize how few really good games the N64 had. I thought there were so many more ha. I also feel like the N64 was in that weird era where they were pushing new 3D graphics, but they looked so bad. I think SNES graphics looked better. Still some all time classics either way though!
The N64 / Saturn / PS1 era was a weird one. Games have either aged well or very badly. I do agree at the SNES games looking better today. Their graphics are timeless.

That's a really good list. I've heard good things about the original mario party games but strangely didn't play them back then. They are on my wishlist of games to pick up in the future though. They seem to be super expensive though.

WOW the N64 was so epic. Giant hit after giant hit. It's just incredible. I'm so blessed to have the privilege to be a collector for this system. If I only had one system to play forever, and all others would be excluded for life, it would be this console.

Perfect Dark may have technically been better than Goldeneye but Goldeneye is the game I got the most memories with

I remember Diddy Kong Racing really surprising me with its great gameplay, open world hub, multiple vehicles. I played it not stop for years.
Goldeneye was king until Perfect Dark arrived, it just improved the formula for me but I've loads of great memories with goldeneye, both the single player and friendship ending multiplayer. 😁
@@StevieROM yeah if I remember correctly Diddy Kong Racing was surprisingly good.. I didn't know I'd be able to fly a plane or have a cool hub-world like that. I'm surprised that game still stays unique in that way and nobody tried to build on that
It's still sad that Donkey Kong Racing got cancelled for the Gamecube after Microsoft bought Rare. Might have been a great franchise still going today. And I agree, why hasn't anybody else done this well?

Mario Kart 64 should be much higher on this list. It's one of the best Mario Kart games IMO.
I like this list, and you really get points for having Perfect Dark ranked high, and having Killer Instinct in there. What about Battletanx tho?
Most people hate me for having Perfect Dark ahead of Goldeneye. lol
Battletanx is a game I've only played recently as well as a few others so I'm thinking about doing an updated list, maybe even a top 100 to add more games.
I miss Mario Tennis too. Great game, but it is true that Mario Golf was better.

When I made this list I hadn't played any of those games.
hurt to see shadows of the empire all the way at 50. in actuality it prob doesn't hold up well; it doesn't stand with the other top notch N64 shooters, or Rogue squadron for the flying element. but it was one of the very early releases, and if you were there, the first time you played the snowspeeder level, holy balls it was an incredible experience.
Duke Nukem will forever be my favorite N64 game

I'd add Mario Party 3 and Chameleon Twist 2, and swap PKMN Stadium 1 with 2.

Loving the respect for Diddy Kong Racing but Paper Mario is waaaaay too low. That's my personal favorite and at least Top 5 or 10.
Paper Mario is one game I haven't finished. I'm finding that I need to update my lists now and again after playing more of certain games and discoving games I missed back then.
Big fan of the N64 I still haven't played much on the N64 still lots of games u haven't played my y favorites are killer instinct Gold mortal Kombat 4 golden eye 007 Mario kart 64 Diddy Kong racing but I definitely gonna want to try out play more games on the N64

I personally think between Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie the latter is the better game even if Mario as a launch title is the more important one.
Oh, and Beetle Adventure Racing is too low in this list!
I would partly agree, Banjo Kazooie would be a more refined video game based on the template of Super Mario 64, I put it ahead as it was more groundbreaking for me, my first N64 game, first 3D platformer for me and I sunk so many hours into it over the years. Beetle might be a bit higher in my next list, I've been playing it a lot recently.
No Mercy this low in the list is a crime!!
It's considered by many to be the greatest wrestling game of all time. The greatest of anything should get it's due
I'd probably rate it a bit higher if I made a new list now but it wouldn't be in my top ten as I'm not a massive wrestling fan.

Road Rash on number 35 is extraordinary generous for that game.
I love road rash. The 64 version isn't my favourite in the series but I was glad to have it on the console.

Perfect Dark was a big evolution over Goldeneye for me and is still a fantastic looking/playing game today. I love the HD remaster on Xbox. Loads of replay value. 😁

As a "Top 50", I don't believe this list is entirely accurate, the clips of each game are too brief, and the mid-roll adverts are an obnoxious interruption.
WCW Revenge was the best wrestling without a doubt at that time. Hawaiian Wahli golf. Is the best sports game. Both should be on the list

I love Mario Kart 64 but Diddy Kong Racing wins for me. The tougher difficulty, the music, the vehicles, the hub world and collectibles grabbed me more.

micro machines , wipeout ,worms armageddon should of deffo made it into top 50 , as multi player games they are soo fun and hilarious. also south park and snowboard kids.

very good list i just miss mission impossible, pokemons snap, i prefer hexen 64 over doom and specially miss Mischief Makers! also i think yoshi´s island is very low, good list.
Mission Impossible had a load of great gameplay , just needed a bit of patience to enjoy it. Never played Pokemon Snap but I've heard a few people say it's ace. Yoshi's Story is a weird one for me, it was never amazing back in the day but I've learnt to appreciate it a bit more recently. Maybe time for a new list. lol

I've only recently played bomberman 64 and goemon.ive only played toy story 2 and spider man on PS1. I'm enjoying getting to discover games I missed the first time round.

@@StevieROM. Yes Mega Man is good on the N64, I own a copy. I like it better than the PlayStation version.
It's one I maybe have to track down. I love the Mega Man series but I never rushed to play any of the 3d games.
Get rid of the turoks and quakes, replace it with the Mario parties, the Gex games, toy story 2, mortal kombat 4, and maybe even the ready 2 rumbles, then you got yourself a solid top 50 list
Mario party is one series I couldn't get into back then but have grown to love over the years. I did love Gex on PlayStation, Ready to Rumble on Dreamcast and have played Toy Story 2 recently. All great games.
I'm a sucker for first person shooters though.

If this is in order I would have a completely different list, plus I would say some games shouldn't be here and others should be in their place! This is a good list anyway

I've so much love for Diddy Kong Racing, it's the only time a game has bested Mario Kart in my opinion.
