What a great invention and must admit the demo for it you have done will help many people. Most of all love the way your pickles are happy safe and joining your adventure as a family.
This is brilliant. I've been looking at GLE's for 12 months as I thought that was the only car that wouldn't make the middle seat redundant with two child seats in the back.
I had a Peugeot 806 when our kids were small. Mine had the three seat bench across the third row (so an eight seater) and sometimes I would put an extra seat in the front making it three rows of three. It was one of the best cars I owned.
Genuinely mind blown! What a great idea! I’ve recently got a t6 transporter because it’s three full seats with isofix… maybe I should sell and get something else 😂
From the UK gov website: 'A child aged 3 or older can travel in a back seat without a child car seat and without a seat belt if the vehicle doesn’t have one.' I would be happier with the children in proper child seats, but worth knowing at least, particuarly as it could solve the centre seat issue in three-across vehicles where there isn't space. Cheers for another informative video.
9:19 The compromises in a 7 seat SUV are well worth it when you want to separate your kids though! I had 3 kids and a Ford Galaxy Titanium X (which I miss 😢) and it was ideal. The rear most seats were actually pretty good!
Spilled milkshake would smell wonderful after a week or two lol. You’ve the heart of a lion Ben. Are you intending to evolve the channel all the way up to DadDoubleDeckerBus?
I've been going through the motions with this, with an 18-month old, another on the way, and my teenage sister who lives with me, my 330d touring is absolutely not going to work. Went to test drive an X5 and 530d and fear that the middle seats aren't big enough. Frankly, one car seat and two adults in the back of the 3 series isnt enough room. Naturally a multimac wont apply for me because of my situation! All roads point to an MPV unfortunately. Any advice Ben or other dads on potential options? Only saving grace is I hope to pick up an MK Indy in the coming months to take the sting out of getting a "boring" car....
You can get a seat belt attachment so the outer seats can be used with the cars seatbelt for small adults but it may not be a long term frequent use solution. 7 seat X5 is very tight in the back too… I hope to review more large family cars in the coming months.
@@dadcarsThanks for reply! It's a tricky situation, cant imagine the need to have all 5 of us in the car will happen very often, but when it does, it will be for long journeys so wouldn't want to put anyone adult-sized through being squeezed between two R129s (or in a multimac) for 3 to 6 hours. After having a proper think, realised if we are going toward MPV territory, may as well get T5 or similar! Will keep an eye open for those reviews, hopefully something will crop up for me 🤣
Only really useful when the kids are very small, as a family of 6 with 2 dogs I looked at the multimac, no issues with safety but the size of the individual seats is small and frankly having them all sat together on a long journey would be like setting off a grenade every 5 minutes. If you have a family of 6 there is only one option if you don't want a van with loads of seats, JDM mpv. Swapped my merc viano for a Toyota velfire a few years back and won't consider not having one until the kids move out.
You never answered the obvious question… with such close pickle vicinity, does the multimac come with bullet and sound proof dividers between the seats to stop pickle volatility.
This is a fantastic invention but can’t help but notice Ben didn’t mention the price. The 4 seater starts at £2300 and most will probably need the infant attachment at an additional £500 😬
I’ve discussed the price in previous videos.. I’ve got single child seats in my collection that cost over £500 each. Getting one of these would be cheaper than changing cars if you had a 3rd or 4th child on the way :)
@@dadcars thank you for the info! We only got a 7 seater to free up space for my eldest who sits in the middle row. So now she can sit in the back of the 7 seater. Only problem is that she is going to have to climb in and out the boot door as the 3 row seats will have ISO fix seats which I’m not going to remove every school run. That 4 row child seat would be perfect as I am not a fan of 7 seaters and it’s my Mrs idea. Stuck now. Could have had a M4 😭.
Afraid Land Rover really cocked things up with the move from Disco 4 to 5. We were the same - having all 3 kids in the back of the Disco 4. Couldn’t believe much much narrower the seat was in Disco 5 - no longer a proper middle seat. Managed to get them in but required some new seats to do so. Our own fault as ordered the car at launch (never again!). It’s possible to fit an eldest in the middle - just needs some thought. We ended up with him in middle for short school runs and then for anything longer, he sat in the rear. Moved to X7 which was way better - much more room all round (and a far better car). Sadly Covid stuck business so now back in an old Disco 4!! Only one in a car seat now but other two taller than me, no chance of getting a small car. Enjoy the Disco 5 - the new ones are totally different to our early one (which I wouldn’t touch with a bargepole) - build has significantly improved.
@@ThaiBriyeah we found the 7 seat X5 a bit awkward in the real world that’s why be purchased this. I’ll be filming a video showing the reality of 7 seat SUVs before it’s sold out
Honestly didn't belive it, but this is 'technically' legal. But there is some serious aviation there if you do have an accident, first is with no disease protection, the kids next to the door are going to take some serious damage from a side impact, not the airbag, the car that tboned you.... second, fully loaded you have all your kids weight and the bench locked onto 2 isofix points that have a max load of 33kg each, and point loading one could sheered both in an impact. So if u got 4 kids at 8kg each, in an Impact your in trouble, and to reiterate, thats not the seat failing, thats the points it's locked onto failing. Another qualifier, some insurance policies limit the vehicle passengers to how many people the vehicle was designed for, thats essential to know because insurance always tries to screw you in the UK. I had a mate at work get done for this because the transit documentation said 7 passengers but he had 8 (the front single passenger sear was changed to a standard double at one point), and while this was legal, the insurance refused, therefore they charged him with driving without insurance as well. But for just for me, having been in a tbone, don't put your kid in a seat without that protection.
The multimac DOES NOT fix to the isofix points, I literally show this in this video! I also said many times that it’s passed the R129 where it’s actually physically crash tested for side impact… loads of child seats have been discontinued because of failing the side impact test for R129.
