    It's time for neurologists to stop sticking to old paradigms and investigate the non-epileptiform causes of motor seizures. It's an embarassment labelling them psychogenic.

      It also might just be a bridge way into a new appreciation for other things deemed “emotionally caused” or “psychogenic” in the sciences as well. This is just one case in a much larger genus of issues caused by the lack of respect for actual human experiences in American academics. Hopefully medicine is able to begin seriously including a patients hermeneutics and experiences in diagnosing a treatment strategy.

      Not all non-epileptic seizures as labeled as psychogenic and many individuals such as myself absolutely have seizures because of psychological reasons

    I had a neurologist run me through epilepsy testing and as soon as it was determined that my seizures were non-epileptic, he told me I was making them up, they were in my head and to get over it. Since it wasn't epilepsy, he wouldn't help me with any treatment and just told me to see a psychiatrist. He also accused me of not taking them seriously despite the fact I sought him out to help me figure out what was going on. He even stopped seeing me for my migraines. I still have the seizures and the migraines, and just live them them because it's so hard to find a neurologist that will actually listen. It still makes me mad and I hate the episodes.

    The cure for non epileptic seizures is to shift from a sympathetic (fight or flight) to a parasympathetic state . This is best achieved through deep abdominal breathing with prolonged exhales making a deep humming sound in your throat as you exhale. Breathe in and out only through your nose, focusing on your breath and nothing else the whole time. You should feel the back of your throat area vibrating when you exhale making the humming sound. The back of the throat area is the hub of the parasympathetic nervous system and activating it with humming automatically activates the parasympathetic nervous system relaxing your mind and body. Practice this for 20 min in the morning, afternoon and night and your seizure frequency will reduce greatly. Also practice it the moment you feel a seizure coming on and most likely the seizure feeling will go away. Combine this with mindfulness training and learn to live in "day tight" compartments focusing only on the present moment specifically on the task at hand and doing what you enjoy.

    • @hannahg39
      @hannahg39 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I agree! The parasympathic nervous system is incredibly powerful! I've been diagnosed with PNES seizures, epilepsy, bipolar 1, panic attacks, sleep paralysis and night terrors, CPTSD, DID, and ADHD. I've found breathwork, yoga, meditation, exercise, going for long meditative walks in nature, body scans, creative play, good nutrition, and taking supplements have helped me so much I've been able to come off of decades of pharmaceuticals! I hope you are doing well and take care of yourself please! Remember you have the power to heal completely, just as you are!

      This makes sense to me as vibration would stimulate the Vagas Nerve
      Another thing , a somatic therapist or bodyworker would probably work with the motions made during the siezures
      I have three maybe four we've worked out
      My right leg kicking out
      My left arm like doing a triceps kick back and usually accompanied by a left Jenkins motion with my head like I'm trying to look over my shoulder
      All probably connected to trauma repetitive motions
      I also used to have tonic flexed stiff frozen and ones that I just dropped to the ground and couldn't move at all I would get an aura or knew that they were getting ready to happen I would try to get to a safe place
      I haven't had one of those in a year..but they were regular for years

    Maybe I’m crazy, but when I have these seizures, it’s like I’ve entered another realm and tuned into another frequency. It’s so wild. I don’t believe that it’s suppressed emotions or whatever they’re trying to sum it up to, I’ve been in therapy for most of my adult life and I’ve worked through my life’s traumas. I truly believe spirits are trying to communicate with me when I’m in that state. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    The best way for me to describe my experience is this in the broad scope of things. Imagining hearing one of your parents die and you forcefully deny the emotions and the accounts of the events. Yet your subconscious mind is attacking what feels like your central nervous system. Like a leaky pipe under too much pressure. That's why people need to cry. Putting on a brave face especially when you are by yourself isn't necessarily the healthy approach.

      I am the world’s leading expert on PNES! Exposure therapy is the answer and the cure! I help girls testify against their abuser’s in court and it totally cures the PNES! This is a mental suppression problem that should not be treated with mental suppression drugs! There’s different reasons why people get PNES but there’s also a lot of different types of exposure therapy that really works! When you push problems deep down inside it can manifest itself physically and that is what this is! You need a psychologist, not a psychiatrist or drugs! Let me know if you have any questions!

    The motions make sense in the light of stress made visible.
    Each of my sizeure like motions likely make sense in light of things that happened to me.
    Especially the paralysis in a hyperflexed pose

      No as he said epilepsy is caused due to high firing neurons in brain that are either developed or already presend regardless they are an abnormality to the normal physiology whereas non epileptic seizures or psychogenic seizures as the name suggests have no high firing neurons or any other neurotransmitter based deformity whereas can be linked to any psychological issue related to some underlying trauma, repressed emotions etc. and he never said its making in the head its just the cause is different and even making something up in their head and having issue in carrying day to day life also constitutes as a medical concern

    • @chanteivy3217

      So I was actually offered to go through cognitive behavioral therapy, but it sounded really stupid so I bailed on it.
      Yes, you are 100% right it does sound stupid because like you said: the patient is making it up in their head?
      Sadly, it’s just a bunch of emotions that there’s only so much that people with epilepsy or different type of disabilities can handle.
      I have these now and they said that’s it’s from me being, stressed, depressed, and my anxiety. But the problem is that I don’t know what or why I would be feeling like this. I mean I feel completely fine.
      So once I went to the therapist and we talked about it I was blown away by how she discussed with me on why and what it was causing me to feel like this when I felt fine.
      It’s like your emotions are hiding from you and you don’t even know it.

But worse than before, now he aslo has hallucinations and screams like a crazy peron. My point being now i know he has the exact condition i do, becaue my symptoms were exactly like his so far. • @gabeangel8104
      @gabeangel8104 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a type of eating disorder where you choke/gag or vomit (not purposeful vomiting like in bulimia but as a reflex triggered but eating certain food or food in general) when eating but also physical things that can cause nausea even without actual vomiting, when eating so you need to talk to a doctor and maybe get tests. If I can remember the name of the disorder I will come back and let you know so you can maybe look it up and see if it sounds like your symptoms.
      It’s really important that you only look online for help about what things it might be worth asking your doctor about rather than looking for a diagnosis online. I hope you’re able to find a solution to your problem

    Extreme emotion itself, think anxiety or depression, or BPD or ADD/ADHD are neurological
    If they weren't it wouldn't make sense to treat them with medication
    So there's something in the brain causing these seizures to occur

    I can cure people completely from PNES but they have to be willing to deal in order to heal! You have to be able to address your most innermost problems and bring them to the surface.

      People with dissociative seizures don't chose to have seizures. Dissociative Seizures happen unconsciously because the mind is in a dissociative state there is a disconnection between the mind and body and the body goes into a fight or flight response that's actived by the sympathic nervous system. Please know your facts before you start judging people and take the time to understand instead of taking the time to judge

    They shouldn't be called seizures. It should have another mental health label.
