    • @TheocracyMatt
      @TheocracyMatt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Thanks! Yeah that one was tricky since James used passive pickups on that album and I used the same guitar with an EMG 57 for all the Metallica stuff, so it will never have quite the same upper-mid bark (in addition to all the other variables listed). Glad you liked, though!

  • @Metal2Bach
    @Metal2Bach 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice. The tones on the Black Album (especially in "Sad But True") are probably some of my favorite tones from any album, but of course I like the composition of Master and Justice better. You got so close to those tones - makes me wish I had a Mark IV. I had a Triple Rec but foolishly sold it because I couldn't figure out how to dial in a good tone (my first tube amp :D). Very cool to see the composer/vocalist for my top favorite band playing riffs from my second favorite band. Love the new album BTW. It's still a sensory overload when I play it.

    I purchased a Mesa Roadster a few years back and have been driven nuts trying to find a tone that I'm satisfied with but to no avail. The closest I've come to enjoying my tone has been through boosting the 3rd channel with a Maxon OD808. Anyway - your input would be appreciated. Thanks!

    • @davethielet5158

      I think the IV has a bit more raw sound but the V is very close. The difference for me is that the V is a lot better for mid-gain tones and a bit tighter and more modern sounding.
      Having said that, I find that speaker choice has a bigger impact on tone.

    I have just been schooled. Was looking at the new JPc2 but there crazy expensive. I see MK4 all the time on Craigslist Maybe I will pick on up now. Sounds great man. I had a triaxis trying to get the same thing an it needed a couple outboard peaces to get it even close but I think you nailed it about as good as any one could. Master of puppets was my favorite album of all time cause of the tone. I got excited as soon as I heard your tone :)

    Man just discovering your channel. Wish I had half of your rhythm skills or half of your ability to dial tones... or half of your gear!

    well done, especially because it's a real sound and not a simulation ;) I'd like to get similar tones, I have a diezel Herbert that is totally different from mesa tones. which tool/equipment would you suggest me to get in order to shape the tone toward a 'tallica sound/s? I mean the album you just covered in this video.
    An equaliser? thanx in advance! cool guitars, I had the edwards lp as well years ago ;)
