      Dude I empathize! My wife (brand new, October 7, 2023) digs Polyphia and wants to go see them live with me. Also we both just got into sleep token.
      Plini..next level. I’m 3 minutes in and blown away. After discovering Scott and Tim, I thought I was going to be hard to impress, but yet I was reassured by the grace of music’s glory yet again.

    A virtuoso guitarist that puts the song first and the technical show off second. That's what makes for a successful solo career and Plini is going that way.

      criminally underrated comment. The reason why I can't stand Malmsteen.

    • @psk5896
      @psk5896 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@faisal1582 i agree to a degree , Malmsteen can really mess up some Classical music interpretations
      But i think it's just his style and personality i love most of his music for what it is, Flashy and showy
      But yea , The Comment described Plini quite well (coming up with such non flashy complex music will be hard but since it's not flashy it will be idk easier for someone to just cover it mindlessly without knowing the complexity of it?)
      Just my opinion

    One of the many things I love about this is that I could play it. It's a complex piece with tonnes of melodic and harmonic variety, but Plini doesn't feel the need to spend the whole piece demonstrating he's amazing at guitar by shredding and sweep picking the whole way through. The complexity comes from its compositional sophistication, which I personally find more more interesting and impressive than your run of the mill shred guitarist.

    • @youreallygotmenow4855
      @youreallygotmenow4855 6 ปีที่แล้ว +114

      Very well said, mate!
      He's very, very good at using his amazing technique for the sake of the piece and not just to show off.
      That's why he's such a good composer: he serves the song by writing fitting parts, he doesn't feed his ego like many of his 'collegues' do.

    • @benjaminjentgen3596
      @benjaminjentgen3596 5 ปีที่แล้ว +115

      Shredding doesn't mean ego by itself. Yeah of course some guitarists just want to go hyper fast and in the end it's a big mess, but others shred 'on purpose'. When I listen to DT, I never feel Petrucci just wants to show off, most of the times it does fit the music.
      But indeed Plini's music is clearly very good like this with few shred parts, it's his style and it works well!

    The prgression which starts at 5:05 is simply amazing. As a classic pianist myself I have to say that Plini has the impressiv ability that Chopin had in his Ballades: take a phase (riff) and constantly evolve that phrase throughout the entire piece. Simple and fucking difficult at the same time.
    Priceless.

    • @kzelmer
      @kzelmer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have you ever played any Chopin's late works? Polyphony and harmonic (as well as technical) complexity is omnipresent
      Just take a look at Third Sonata or Ballade 4... Liszt, Alkan, Rach... all of them have more demanding pieces, but it does not mean that Chopin's work (as I said, specially late works) are easy or harmonically simple

      @@mmhmm9021 Jazz absolutely isn't as complicated as classical lmao. It took jazz until about 1970 to move to post-tonal music, something classical music did more than half a century before it in the 1910's. Classical also implemented polyrhythms, quartal harmonies and experimental instrumentations before jazz even existed. Besides that classical music features polyphony while jazz remains homophonic. This isn't even talking about formal complexities classical has that no other genre even bothers with.
