      @@megamikethemovieman Probably because of the cheap convenience as well as having exclusive features not passed onto the Blu Ray. Not only that but the nostalgia factor of the DVD will always remain strong compared to that of the HD and now 4K formats

      The reason why dvds are still king is that the studios backed the DVD 📀 format 💯 percent. Unlike the bluray & 4k format witch is around 50 to 65 percent. And on top of that there is still not as many catalog titles available on bluray. Unlike DVD there's 100s of titles that are still only available on DVD 📀. All I am saying is if all the studios backed bluray format more then they are doing now. Dvds 📀 would not be as big & personally I think blurays would have taken over the market by now. And we would only have blurays & 4ks mostly on the market by now. If the studios would have supported the HD format more then they did

    Indirect question Mike. (No right or wrong answer.) Do you think this is making a major impact? Even if you like DVDs 📀, it's hard to ignore digital copies are often cheaper. 🤔 And of course you don't have to worry about shipping costs. 🤔 If I'm on the fence about a film, I am tempted to go digital. 🤔

    • @megamikethemovieman
      @megamikethemovieman  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Depends on the movie. I’ve seen times where physical discs are cheaper than digital and plus you get to have them for a lot longer since with digital they can disappear any time. So digital would seem more like renting right?

      @@megamikethemovieman prices for speacial releases are now reasonable. My point was, only wealthy collectors buy those. And because of that bluray and 4K sell numbers are so low. More basic releases with a price tags of 5-20€, people will buy those. But, like a movie Last Dragon... tbey released it around here 🇫🇮 only as a basic 4k/bd combo, price was over 50€ plus shipping... no thank you.

    Here in Australia, a lot of new 4k coming out are $50-$80. So i think here that has somehting to do with why they don't sell that well. 4k seems to be PURELY a collectors market whereas I think dvds are still biught by many non collectors who just wanna watch the movie.

    The reason why DVDs are still dominating the market still. After bluray's have been on the market for 15 years plus now. Is that there is still not enough catalog titles available on bluray or 4k still. And after being on the market for over 15 years now. And if all the studios would back blurays & 4ks like they all did when DVDs came out on the market. Blurays would have a bigger market share now & 4ks would be around 20 to 25 percent in the market sales & bluray's market sales would be around 45 to 55 percent in the market sales. And DVDs would be around 25 percent in the market sales. If all the studios would have surported blurray' & 4k like they did with DVD format. But all the studios did not even try to there best to be behind bluray or 4k 100 percent just around 45 percent and that is sad

    • @megamikethemovieman
      @megamikethemovieman  9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Would you think they should do a DVD, Blu-ray and 4K for every single title release?

    • @tomboling2309
      @tomboling2309 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@megamikethemovieman no I think if the studios would have released more catalog titles on bluray and slowly cut back on dvds releases. And yes do combo packs for 4ks and blurays releases. And releases more action Syfy fantasy horror & some drama on 4k that still have not made the leap from dvd to 4k yet and releases more comedys & family films on bluray. And just push the bluray & the 4k market more and give people the choice bluray or 4k and dvds. But I think if all the studios wear behind bluray & 4ks like they wear with dvds. I really think dvds would not be as big in the market sales now. Just a last resort if someone wants to just watch a movie once in a blue moon. And hard core collector would not even look at dvd now. Bc they would just be happy buying blurays or 4ks. If we had at least half of the catalog titles that are still only on dvd still. Or dvd could have been like laser disk market and be gone by now. And we could just have only blurays & 4ks on the market now

      Yeah, I’ve been ordering Brays the past couple months and getting them at thrift stores. I knew about ten years ago when i returned my last blockbuster rental that this amazing deal we were getting of just paying for the movie you want to watch was coming to an end. This is why the powers that be want you to pay monthly for a “lifetime rental”, so you can’t lend a movie to a friend/family for free. I even bought 2 PlayStation 4’s that I kept in a box to play them in. I’m just glad that everyone is opening their eyes to this.
