Eventually, there will be geniues who will forge what the rest of the world had created and turn into one incredible masterpiece, and for this video Steve is one of them. We are all witness for these events. We observe, and document, and pass them on for the future generation.

    One of the most striking things about Jobs is his perfectionism. He demanded the best from himself and from his team, and he was never satisfied with anything less than greatness. This perfectionism was both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it drove Jobs to create some of the most iconic products of our time. On the other hand, it could also be demanding and exhausting for those who worked with him.

    • @cardinalRG

    I'd like to thank both Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. To credit Steve Jobs only is an insult to Steve Wozniak. If it wasnt for Wozniak, Steve wouldn't have achieved what he achieved.

    • @tarkovskybresson4581
      @tarkovskybresson4581 8 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      +Darryl “darvlaskie” Wolfe Don't forget the other way around...without Jobs, Wozniak would not have achieved what he achieved. The Apple I would simply be a prototype forgotten in the closet. Because after all, it is so important to do it just for fun.

    • @darrylwolfe7359
      @darrylwolfe7359 8 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      +Tarkovsky Bresson Steve jobs didnt know how to code. He was just a marketing expert. Wozniak was an engineer and a programmer.. Wozniak was the inventor.. without the invention itself, a marketing expert is nothing. Wozniak without jobs would still do good because he has the skills. Any person with marketing experience can do the job.. Imagine a singer who has a manager.. you dont give credit to the manager, you give credit to the singer. in this world whether you are poor or not, you will always go far if you have the talent and skills.

    • @tarkovskybresson4581
      @tarkovskybresson4581 8 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      Darryl Wolfe Just a marketing expert??? What about the other way around??? What about, Wozniak was just a programmer and engineer expert??? Can you really be insanely great at something and be just that??? I don't believe it. I think that you can reach virtuosity in any field and become unique. Marketing is a field of knowledge as great as coding. Regarding Woz, the technical skill of coding is appreciated and essential, but it need more than that to built and shape an industry. Woz did the wiring, Jobs built the dream. I believe it is quite naive to say, Ho you just need to be a marketing expert to do it. It is not that trivial. Steve Jobs had a real understanding of market structure and industrial organization. It is actually a field of Economic Science and the level of technicality can be quite impressive. Many watch movies and see actors, some see the signature of the filmmaker. Many give credit only to the singer, some will get it and understand that the manager is the conductor of the orchestra. You are right when you say that without the invention itself, the marketing expert is nothing. In the other hand, it is a mistake to believe that having an idea and a prototype is 90% of the job done. Innovation doesn't mean building an idea from scratch, it mean having an idea and reaching a business success with it. Right now there is thousand of great idea waiting to reach the status of innovation. Most of them will fail because there is no Steve Jobs involved. Woz is a programmer and engineer genius, absolutely. In the other hand, Steve Jobs is a visionary, a paradigm shifter (a game changer). There is no book or school for that kind of thing. I get bored of people who claim that Jobs is nothing without Woz. The true answer is that the ensemble of Woz and Jobs is the key. Both are insanely great. In the mid 80s, engineers used to follow Steve Jobs everyday no matter where he go. Do you know why??? I will quote the engineer right here...(My Jobs was to follow Steve and extract the ideas that he had in his mind and put them down on paper. A lot has been said about Steve, some of it is false, a lot of it is true. He is extremely masterful about the way he think)...Engineer has the technicality to built a landscape, but only Jobs know how the landscape will looks like. Taking over the Xerox's Mouse prototype was not about stealing, it was about making the market efficient. Being an inventor doesn't make you the person who make it work. The Xerox prototype was the first of its kind, but it also had a lot of weakness. Steve Jobs knew how to make it better and it was a duty to do it.

    • @darrylwolfe7359
      @darrylwolfe7359 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Tarkovsky Bresson Like i said which you agreed to it. Without the invention itself, the marketing expert is nothing. If an invention is something new, the chances of it being famous is high. Any rich billionaire would be happy to fund the invention. You said that Wozniak wouldnt have achieved what he achieved without Jobs. Thats like saying Steve wouldnt be Steve Jobs today without the help of mike markkula. If Woz and Jobs have not met in life, Jobs would have used his marketing skills on a different product like cars or furnitures. Woz would still be an engineer and coder. Marketing experts of the most famous inventions in the world would be nothing without the invention itself.. For example, how would a marketing expert help sell time-machines if the time-machine has not been invented yet?

    • @tarkovskybresson4581
      @tarkovskybresson4581 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Darryl Wolfe I don't buy your sentence saying that If an invention is new, the chances of it being famous is high. Like I said before, having an invention is great, but it is not 90% of the job done. You may have gold in your hand, but the world is still not ready to agree with you about the importance of the personal computer, simply because the market doesn't exist yet. I don't think that any rich billionaire would be happy to fund it. It is not an opinion, it is Industrial organization 101. As a matter of fact, in the case of Woz and Jobs, finding only one rich man was really hard. Mike Markkula was that man, because Steve Jobs found the right words and did the right phone calls. Think about Douglas Engelbart and his mouse Prototype. Yes he is the inventor of the mouse and this is great, but Engelbart is related to fundamental research, he doesn't have much power to reach the innovation status because his accessibility to the consumer is limited. We cannot say that any billionaire was ready to fund it. Steve Jobs is the one who put it accessible to the mass and it was not a trivial thing to do. You need to be visionary and choose the right invention, because there is a lot of invention available at the same time. Regarding your example about time machine, this is exactly what Steve Jobs did. He succeeded to sell the importance of the personal computer to the mass at a time where the personal computer market didn't exist yet. That talent is not just about marketing, it is about being a virtuoso with the structure of the scientific revolution. Saying that Steve Jobs is just a marketing expert is as naive as saying that a filmmaker is just a good camera operator. The late 70s was full of talented computer engineer at every corner of the Silicone Valley, but there is only one Steve Jobs. The inventor can be a genius, but he is powerless without the man who is able to make the consumer believe that a new market is about to be created.

    All that hate about Jobs and that argument about Woz being more important than Jobs...The actual real answer is they are both genius. Jobs and Woz are like a binary language system. You can claim 1>0 , but if 0 goes away, 1 doesn't mean anything. Woz invented the camera, Woz is an inventor and a genius, but Woz is not a filmmaker. Steve Jobs is a genius filmmaker.

      Not really. If you look at the history of Apple and NeXT, most of the products, if not all, that Jobs designed failed. He may of been a marketing genius only.
      The other thing I agree with that he did, despite not liking him, was removing all the stupid names from the product lines Apple were producing and also cutting down on the range.
      The Apple 2 sold millions because of Woz and Woz winning the argument that it SHOULDN'T be a closed system. The Macintosh failed because Jobs designed most of it and forced it to be a closed system.

    • @tarkovskybresson4581
      @tarkovskybresson4581 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Steven Whiting Yes...really. ''He may of been a marketing genius only''??? How can you be marketing genius and be just that? How about Woz was only the guy who did the ''wiring'' on the board? Wiring is not that complex you know.
      Jobs had the idea to put the board in a fancy case. You can believe it is funny, but the point is that case is the way we perceive personal computer today. This is the difference between Woz and Jobs. Woz is the inventor of the video camera. Woz vision is about watching the news with television. Steve Jobs artistic vision is more important, Jobs's vision is about creating a new medium of expression with the camera...we call it the film industry. This is why Jobs is so important. He create the goal behind the tool he didn't built.
      Many perceive Jobs failure as failures. I see it as learning. Silicon Valley entrepreneur fails all the time. and the secret is to keep learning and trying. Steve Jobs is the Rocky Balboa of computing. There is no Next cube without the Mac. And there is no IMac without the Next Cube technology. The come back of Apple has a lot to do with buying Next technology. The IMac was a success and we both know the rest of the story. I don't think Jobs died leaving Apple in poverty. Jobs is a filmmaker. he know less about camera than the cameraman, but he is the only one who can transmit the vision of the film to the technical team. Jobs didn't create the Ipad, but with Jobs, the transition between idea, prototype and final product as never been that fast in the history of industrial organization. This is why Jobs is important. This is why we talk more about Jobs than Woz. If Woz was that amazing, we would simply talk about him.
      ...and all those Jobs hater complaining about copying. They simply don't get it. Great artist stole. The point is that replicating already existing idea is really hard and improving it is even harder. The first Beethoven symphony was basically Mozart style. The first Rush album is basically Led zeppelin.
