    I remember having a metallic light blue Gitane 10 speed in 1975. It was way lighter than my Schwinn Varsity. I believe I paid about $300 for it in 1975. I don't really remember anything else about it. I rode it for several years.

    A French bike, from early Seventies, worth keeping.

    Lower-end early 70s (or late 60s?) Gitane with Simplex Prestige shifters and derailleurs that wear out quickly, and French parts that are hard to find replacements for. The brakes are the best thing on this bike, and is a score for that if nothing else. If it can be made rideable without too much effort, solid bike but super heavy. Not nearly as desirable as the higher end models, which may look very similar.

    Have you beat at 11.00 and put air in the tires , lube the gears and rides perfect. Also everything looks original, even the foot guards.
