guys - i am a shred hair band guitarist from the 80s. I never cared for blink and all the others in that time - I scoffed at all of them and TBH I dont care for Blink even today, i mean cmon Im all about LZ/EVH/Yngwie/Dokken/Ozzy/ etc... Then I saw the movie LOVE and heard Soul Survivor and I called my bandmate "this is like U2 on steroids, if U2 was unleashed and given buckets of SARMS and TRT..Its bloody gorgeous and lush you need to listen to this sh*t!!!" damn i love AVA. Their songs speak to my soul to the point that I almost cry when I listen to The Gift or Inertia. And a few others. I LOVE AVA. Im twice as old as Tom and the guy is a G*d*n genius. I want more AVA. Thanks for sharing this.. Tom can do more. He is evolving like the BEatles did through their career and I hope he pushes this envelope further with AVA.
You right, so many sounds and chords are relatered with BCR but in this case, Tom used diferents distortions, guitars and a lot of delay efect in every melody, if you do that, everything will be much different. I love it!
I wish 31-year old Tom DeLonge would live in my neighborhood and teach me how to play guitar. Me, 1 year in lockdown holding on hope, head slightly above the water...
He didn’t think he was the second coming, he did make those statements like saying the record was like the second coming but he was pretty much just fucking around and wasn’t serious
Yeah plus he was on painkillers for his back! Hence the optimism. But he was filled with hope and inspiration about the future, and that type of positivity was needed at the time and still is. One of my fav albums ❤️
I mean as someone who’s been in the studio for hours and multiple days before. It takes a lot out of you and even though it sounds good or alot of progress has been made, it really tires you out. Tom has always been a very energetic guy and David always seems like he’s more reserved and more of an excited on the inside kinda guy rather than clearly showing it
really can't agree with ya there. Tom's ideas really shined in AVA. when Mark and Tom work together there has to be give and take. in AVA Tom got to give everything and that's why we have the great records they made. i luv'd +44 just as much, i really enjoy that they got to do their own things during this time.
Without Mark though he really learned to trust his own instincts and get a chance to prove to himself that he’s capable of writing good songs without Mark and Travis
Obviously yes his +44 riffs do not match AVA, AVA only matches what it is because like BCR, Tom created the bass notes for AVA…if Mark had explored a band like Tom did with AVA, he could have meshed well
Boy. That radio stuff is *dangerously* corny: "I can hear you, over. I can see the sun coming over the horizon! Who do we think we are? We're Angels & Airwaves!" like, _Are we not men? No, we are Devo!_
I know Travis is more popular than Atom but Atom's drumming on the first 2 AVA albums is top notch
I agree, but also Love albums have such perfect drums
I can't get enough of this "studio-insight-stuff" so awesome!
Angels & Airwaves, best band of their generation.

Underrated comment, I loved hearing this perspective on AVA
Tom singing in the studio is amazing and that’s got to be the gift he’s singing surely
The bridge for a littles enough is fucking incredible
I love these Tom delonge band documentaries. They’re really cool and I get to see how my favorite tracked we’re made
Tom’s voice was still quite high pitched here this must be 2005/2006
Yeah this was the recording of We Don't Need To Whisper, so it would be around mid 2005-2006
My favorite album from them!! Love seeing the process.
dude those drums sound so fucking rad =)
so awesome to have watched the evolution of toms guitar playing. ill always love Blink but AVA is a whole other level of epicness ❤
Ilan is an excellent musician but I still miss Atom to this day.
i guess Tom IS illuminati, he's drinking the capri sun backwards lmao!
17:18 a little preview of Secret Crowds
That was the adventure lol
I see a lot of influence of Box Car Racer
You right, so many sounds and chords are relatered with BCR but in this case, Tom used diferents distortions, guitars and a lot of delay efect in every melody, if you do that, everything will be much different. I love it!
Miss you Critter
Atom establishing the drum beat for the war
Atom and Ryan Sinn.. the birth of AVA..
Love the fact that good day used to have the secret crowds riff as a chorus.
WDNTW was and is the best music album ever created imo
1:20 Pretty Little Girl?
I think it's "good day" before the moved the key up -- definitely sounds really similar.
He still looks, dresses and speaks like blink Tom here.
Tom establishing the riff for it hurts
I love this behind the scenes stuff 👊
29:28
Atom missed the time XD
It's so good seeing them when they have the track done on the last part :) like realising all the hard work was worth it
RIP critter who produced their first 4 albums I believe
Yeah it was up till Love Part 2
@@dylanburton4955 that is 4 albums
@@saffronthurkettle6795 Just seen this, clearly I missed that part out whoops
@@dylanburton4955 he had a great producing career with the band I find critter quite funny too
And the bridge riff for the adventure as well
Tom establishing the opening guitar riff for the adventure
Tom is f**king genius
A rare shot of Tom playing a Gibson les Paul on the studio
Tom trying to establish lyrics for secret crowds lol
32:24 you can say Tom just fell in love with what they did at this point
(or he just wanted to kiss David)
Tom establishing the guitar riff for the war
omfg so he CAN sing live!
Haha Tom drinking the capri sun
They’re talking about the drum beat for do it for me now here lol
Tom listening to his own vocals
There’s Tom playing a fender with angels&airwaves
Tom obviously learnt to pronounce”head”in 2005 lol because he doesn’t sing”head”that well in blink-182’s”I miss you”
Haha I think Atom got bored to listening to Tom playing guitar lol
At 4:15 he’s playing Young London chord progression right?
I heard it too, it sounds just like the Young London preformance Live at Red Bull Studios
Being part of this project would be amazing
I can see why he thought this album would be generational
its super rad tho!
this is RAD!
I miss this type of Tom
I wish 31-year old Tom DeLonge would live in my neighborhood and teach me how to play guitar. Me, 1 year in lockdown holding on hope, head slightly above the water...
More like this version strat the machine
Is 4:30 the chords to Young London or am I wrong?
Yes it os
He was playing the adventure but it is very much the same chords
I love you Tom
3:30 is young London off love seemingly.
Or Here's your letter
Woah, you're right! 4:20 is the big riff... early early stage!
Tom Delonge discovers delay pedals and thinks he is the second coming! 😂
*discovers melody
@@ilovelanedotcom Tom new melody since blink's first record. Tom discovered delay pedals and made great records with em.
He didn’t think he was the second coming, he did make those statements like saying the record was like the second coming but he was pretty much just fucking around and wasn’t serious
Pretty weird assessment lol. Looks like he’s just excited and having fun writing a different and cool record.
Yeah plus he was on painkillers for his back! Hence the optimism. But he was filled with hope and inspiration about the future, and that type of positivity was needed at the time and still is. One of my fav albums ❤️
@ 13:01 i though he was playing Weightless by ATL but I forgot, this was before that time.
David doesn’t look very enthusiastic when Tom says it’s rad
I mean as someone who’s been in the studio for hours and multiple days before. It takes a lot out of you and even though it sounds good or alot of progress has been made, it really tires you out. Tom has always been a very energetic guy and David always seems like he’s more reserved and more of an excited on the inside kinda guy rather than clearly showing it
@@dylanburton4955 yeah it certainly comes across that way
3:07 young London
I think that’s him going through The Adventure although it has a similar pattern a little bit
Imagine if Mark was apart of AVA, the art both of them could of created together for this style of band would of been awesome
really can't agree with ya there. Mark don’t apply to AvA…his +44 bass rifts don’t jive with this type of music…hence why he’s not there lol
Obviously yes his +44 riffs do not match AVA, AVA only matches what it is because like BCR, Tom created the bass notes for AVA…if Mark had explored a band like Tom did with AVA, he could have meshed well
WoW!!! 🤩😍
13:10 whats he doing to the strings
Hes stretching them out so they stay in tune faster after replacing.
DRUMMER NAME PLEASE ? ?
Atom willard

3:30 is a really rough version of Good Day
isnt tom supposed to be massive? then what is david? gargantuan?
Having been really up close to them at an AVA show before, Tom is a really big dude, yes, but David is fucking massive lol
what year? 2005 or 2006?
What song is at 14:00??
The Machine
Boy. That radio stuff is *dangerously* corny: "I can hear you, over. I can see the sun coming over the horizon! Who do we think we are? We're Angels & Airwaves!"
like, _Are we not men? No, we are Devo!_
Tom establishing the lyrics for the war whilst playing the guitar riff he’s just made up
what song is at 5:15?
A little's enough. 🤙
