I ran into this trying a very brief attempt at a solo Latias run in Emerald years ago. Psywave is useless as it is, and it can’t hit Poochyena. Noped out of that run once I realized it was gonna be a Magikarp-esque slog for struggle for a while.
Yeah unfortunately Scott's Thoughts has already done a run with Mewtwo in Emerald (albeit a pretty rough playthrough) and that initial time loss from having to use Struggle against Poochyenas really held back it's time.
As will Jirachi until level 10 (better than freaking level 22)... but no rock tomb from Roxanne. Deoxys is the real Mewtwo of Gen III... Edit: not much better for Celebi who is stuck with leach seed... but also has recover so possible but tedious.
Honestly i do like seeing you crusg through a game with an overpowered pokemon now and then. The hard runs are good too. But its satisfying seeing you say fuck it easy mode.

Having grown up cheering for the Flames (insert your best joke about their mediocrity and terribleness here), the random dig at the Oilers made my day.
I did an Emerald run with the bonus disc Jirachi (so it was considered traded) and the first half was surprisingly difficult. The Poochyena meant I had to level up for Swift, the Electric Gym required so much leveling up compared to everything before it, and then Flannery spams Sunny Day and Overheat against a steel type, all while not being able to level up too much due to obedience. The rest was easy, and I think the final level was 45 or so, but the type combination was miserable at the start. I imagine Mewtwo wouldn't be quite the same since it would be over leveled before gym 1, but that Poochyena is gonna cause a toll to its time for sure.
@@gokuworld Where time matters, I highly doubt that. Even if it has better moves, stats, etc, sand at the start of every battle and every turn will waste a considerable amount of time over the course of a run.
It is a shame that in Gen 2 almost no trainers have steel or dark types. Considering: it's Mewtwo, absurdly high stats, Gen 2 low levels, absurd moveset & the TM store Mewtwo should dominate
@@MedQu2 Amnesia got nerfed in Gen 2. It only buffs Special Defense. There's no real Dark type threats apart from mandatory Houndooms. Sneasel's base Special Attack is a joke so it's not a threat and Murkrow gets murked by Ice or Thunder Punch.
@@ShiningJudgment666 I know this. This is exactly why you need it. Mewtwo was nerfed. His special defence became 90 instead of 154. So by using the move amnesia you get a plus 2 in special defense which makes it very bulky against many threats and you free yourself from dynamic punch and submission. No crunch can 2 hit KO it anymore. No thunder or fireblast is a threat to it. So Amnesia in combination with substitute which prevents 1 KO hits and being statused with paralysis, freeze being burned and poisoned makes mewtwo much better. Also the substitute stays longer as your risen special defense makes it harder for the opponent to reach the HP points it would take to destroy the substitute. In combination with leftovers you have a winning machine. So Mewtwo with leftovers, psychic, amnesia is already a monster. Now if you combine it with thunderbolt for Lugia, Ho-Oh and most legendary birds and aerodactyl and lapras or ice beam for celebi and lugia or dynamic punch to hit Tyranitar on its 4 times weakness go fighting and stop snorlax (it confuses Pokemon) or hidden Power rock to hit a Shadow Ball Ho-Oh on its 4 times weakness or Shadow ball to hit Celebi and Mew... It all depends. Dynamic punch is actually next to hidden power Rock the best. or

Definitely a fun video and neat to see how quick Mewtwo can be. One improvement I can think of - Can you get more than one TM for each of the punches? That might help in speeding things up, as you can interchange them with other moves somewhat.

Never would have thought there would be a hockey reference in a Pokemon solo run challenge. Loved the finals though, 7 games and totally had me watching.
The funny thing is it's actually in the player's favor when an AI uses Hypnosis due to the 25% status move evasion buff. Zam and Gar should have a good time in gen 2 also, those special elemental punches don't mess around (particularly for when and how you get them). As for the ending, I'll speculate that Kyogre will almost certainly be the king of gen 3, with the possible exception of the Eon twins (especially Latios) if Soul Dew is in play. I doubt Deoxys normal or attack has quite the muscle to steamroll a min battle solo run since they both get obliterated by a light breeze, and Tate and Liza is probably an auto loss.
Seeing as the latis don't get a non- psychic damaging move till level 20 and in emerald the first non- rival has a poocheana the latis are NOT going to have a good time. Latios also HAS to get to level 20 since it gets memento at level 5 so you can't struggle.
Gen 3 is insanely hard for Mewtwo, first non-rival trainer has Poochyena which is a dark type so you have to waste a lot of time wasting pp to struggle in the early game.
I never got to appreciate it the same way, i grew up with sinnoh and hoenn. So, my favourite is Giratina it’s just such a misunderstood God tier mon. But mewtwo is growing on me a ton

I'm glad you have a new editor and want to wish you two all the best for future uploads. With that being said, I also want to give you some personal feedback: I would prefer it if you didn't add the time stamps on the side of the video, especially for the kanto runs. I always like to be surprised at the end of the video with how quickly the pokemon finished the challenge. But that's just me. :) Since this video came out a few days ago and I'm not sure if you will read this I will comment this on your next video again. Thanks a lot for your hard work! I'd like to see and run with Snorlax! Everyone that played GSC smogon knows that Snorlax is the king of gen 2, but this won't neceserly transalte into a fast run, so it could be fun to watch! Nice video as always!
Fun fact : against the lapras, since you had the psychic badge and not the electric badge, there was a 1.1 boost on psychic putting it almost perfectly on par with thunderpunch.
When i was a child i liked to think that trainers like Lance having 2 same lvl Dragonite... it was the same Pokemon but with longer hp or it refused to go KO as the anime. Thanks Jrose!
Snorlax's Speed would be the issue when it comes to in-game time when it won't be going first plus getting worn down with attacks and random status. Mewtwo's fast, reasonably bulky and hits hard.

This video took me down memory lane. Years and years ago there was this awesome store called Blockbuster where you could rent movies and video games (the kids these days wouldn’t understand). Sometimes they even had used games for sale. Well, one day my mom bought a used copy of Crystal. I booted it in my GB color and saw there was indeed a save file on the cartridge, but the previous owner only had 2 badges. Out of curiosity I wanted to see what this guy’s team was. And holy sh*t this mfer no cap had a LVL 100 MEWTWO! It didn’t obey me, but I couldn’t just waste a perfectly good Mewtwo so I went ahead and finished the play through. Fun times!
Mewtwo always gonna have those triumphs and love for all of his outstanding way to go and adapted to the gens, regardless how putta stats are now or moves became still he is the king in many of the games!
A few years ago I did one of these challenges in Emerald with a few different mons, Zangoose is surprisingly good and would probably give Mewtwo a run for it's money
Not sure if you knew this but with the rocket hideout only the first persain statue is mandatory and all the other ones can be avoided by battling a scientist to turn off the rest of the statues.

Hey Jrose, thank you for all of your uploads. Since I stumbled upon your channel I watched every video of yours. Especially the Kanto Solo Runs which I am watching regularly, most of them many times.
I'm glad you have a new editor and want to wish you two all the best for future uploads. With that being said, I also want to give you some personal feedback: I would prefer it if you didn't add the time stamps on the side of the video, especially for the kanto runs. I always like to be surprised at the end of the video with how quickly the pokemon finished the challenge. But that's just me. :) Since this video came out a few days ago and I'm not sure if you will read this I will comment this on your next video again.

Such a classic gen 2 ending. Snorlax vs mewtwo duking it out. Speaking of kings of gens. Snorlax must be pretty good right?
Snorlax's Speed would be the issue when it comes to in-game time when it won't be going first plus getting worn down with attacks and random status. Mewtwo's fast, reasonably bulky and hits hard.

Years and years ago there was this awesome store called Blockbuster where you could rent movies and video games (the kids these days wouldn’t understand). Sometimes they even had used games for sale.
Well, one day my mom bought a used copy of Crystal. I booted it in my GB color and saw there was indeed a save file on the cartridge, but the previous owner only had 2 badges.
Out of curiosity I wanted to see what this guy’s team was. And holy sh*t this mfer no cap had a LVL 100 MEWTWO!
It didn’t obey me, but I couldn’t just waste a perfectly good Mewtwo so I went ahead and finished the play through.

Mewtwo always gonna have those triumphs and love for all of his outstanding way to go and adapted to the gens, regardless how putta stats are now or moves became still he is the king in many of the games!

A few years ago I did one of these challenges in Emerald with a few different mons, Zangoose is surprisingly good and would probably give Mewtwo a run for it's money
Not sure if you knew this but with the rocket hideout only the first persain statue is mandatory and all the other ones can be avoided by battling a scientist to turn off the rest of the statues.
