Butterfree was the first Pokémon to have its mega evolution officially REMOVED It was clowning on legendaries with base 140 special attack n 100 speed I remember when it came out on radical red and it within a month got removed
The way you took down Red at the end really surprised me. I had written off Beedrill to be of any effect but coming out with those 2 moves and just slapping Red around the mountain was really impressive.
I've been following for about 4 years now and my favorite challenges you do are what I call "constrained" challenges, like this one. OP runs with legendaries are fun to see how fast, and "impossible" challenges don't always float my boat, but these kind of challenges? Can watch all day. Keep up ALL your great work. Always makes my day to see a Jrose video.
Shuckle's a monster. I'd hesitate to even call it a gimmick pokemon, it's just good. Turns out, as long as you don't die you have a chance to win. And that's what Shuckle does best, not die.
@@Guimhj Ironically, when I beat Red, that is when Shuckle leveled up to 50 so yes. Most of my other members were between 48 and 54, but I didn't need them since Red's Pikachu can't beat Shuckle without parahax.
People always count Paras/Parasect out cuz of their typing but I’ve always found them to be great assets in Gen1 and 2. Especially in Gen1 where Bug is super effective against poison…and there are so many poison/grass types to make Leech Life an actually usable move, lol. But even in Gen2 it can do better than most people credit IMO. And Spore is nothing to sneeze at.
Parasect has always been one of those pokemon that is overlooked due to its glaring weaknesses, which ignores the fact that if your opponent doesnt have an effective move, parasect can wall incredibly well with a combination of status afflictions & HP restoration. It has a very unique & versatile niche

Last time I played Oregon Trail, it was the board game version with my brother, sister-in-law, and our dogs. One by one we all died; drowning in river crossings, dropping due to dysentery, ya know, the usual. By the end of it, only one managed to survive; the dog, Mishka. We all had a great mental image of a tiny chihuahua scampering over the last hill, leading the oxen down into the valley, and barking at literally everything to warn her now-dead humans of the vicious attack crickets. In honor of her victory, Mishkabob got extra chicken for dinner.
I actually started clapping at the end, that deserved a proper congratulations! Such a u-turn for Beedrill too (no pun intended) from being mocked earlier in the video! I would love to see the Johto bugs too, and any other unusual challenge types that you have in mind.
I think the reason there is no Flamethrower Dragonair is because it was impossible to get one until Crystal, so it would have been an illegal moveset in Gold and Silver. Thunderbolt and Ice Beam Dragonair was technically legal in the sense you could trade one from Gen I. They had no problem giving Lance illegal moves (Barrier and Rock Slide) though lol.
I was about to say till that ending that it doesn't make any sense bc lance got a pass and underlvled evos but that's just gen 1 & gen 1.9 (aka gen 2) I suppose.

To this day my 1st playthrough of a new pokemon is always a "grass pokemon only" challenge, with the caveat that just like how the actual in-game gyms aren't strictly limited to thier type I allow myself exceptions for "honorary" grass types, (for example, Sudowoodo)

BEEDRILL! Heck yeah! Curse is usually a winning strat in gen 2, but I haven't seen it combo'd with Agility before. I love that Beedrill got their time to be the hero against the strongest trainer in the game!
Ive always loved Beedrill for its design alone, especially Mega Beedrill, so to see Beedrill do essentially nothing the whole video and then be the MVP in toppling Red makes me so happy

Don't know if you'll see this Jrose, but you have made me do personal solo runs from watching your videos. I don't upload them because I don't have a good set up, but I share my journey with my friends. So far I've done the following: Galarian Zigzagoon in Pokemon Shield Nincada in Pokemon Emerald Spearow in Pokemon Fire Red And most recently, Smeargle in Pokemon Crystal. I beat them all, but most of them were difficult (Spearow was easy lol), especially Nincada. Love the videos and keep up the great work you do!
I thought a level cap is a stupid idea but in this challenge it made sense. Without a level cap you would just have overleveld the pokemon you thought were useful and wouldnt have been forced to discover the tactic with beedril, of which you thought it was the most useless in the run.
There was a time when the only Pokémon videos I watched were Nuzlockes, but this video and the No EXP videos have won me over . More interesting to watch and attempt

I do enjoy your content, I find very entertaining when you do solo runs on Kanto, because of the broken mechanics and the weird luck you need just to win the entire game. On these other challenges, like this one for example, I don't like the level cap at 50, I guess it is an unnecessary extra complication you don't need in order to make an entertaining video. You are a funny player with an amazing sense of humor, and a lot of knowledge, when it comes to this game. I would definitely love to see you crushing the entire Kanto/Johto/Hoenn with an entire bug/whatever-kind-of-team , without any level cap...

As someone who just finished Crystal with the gift Shuckle, I think the Johto bugs will be much easier. Rollout is just too OP against the CPUs.

Paras/parasect one of my all time favorites, because it's such a suprising good pokemon in early gens
They make great TM slaves and spore is one of the best moves in the game. I used Parasect to beat Round 2 Poke Cup Masterball.

After the Johto bug run, you should do an Eeveelution run: Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, and Umbreon.

I thought a level cap is a stupid idea but in this challenge it made sense. Without a level cap you would just have overleveld the pokemon you thought were useful and wouldnt have been forced to discover the tactic with beedril, of which you thought it was the most useless in the run.

I do enjoy your content, I find very entertaining when you do solo runs on Kanto, because of the broken mechanics and the weird luck you need just to win the entire game. On these other challenges, like this one for example, I don't like the level cap at 50, I guess it is an unnecessary extra complication you don't need in order to make an entertaining video. You are a funny player with an amazing sense of humor, and a lot of knowledge, when it comes to this game. I would definitely love to see you crushing the entire Kanto/Johto/Hoenn with an entire bug/whatever-kind-of-team , without any level cap...
