Subbed! Thank you for showing so much! I'm still downloading it (I have a stupidly slow internet), so some of this was kind of confusing to me, but will probably make much more sense when I actually get to SEE the game myself. Thank you again!
I am so stoked for the puzzles, it's an interesting loop and not something I typically associate with my survival games. And mylanta the sounds and magic effects are so up my alley. Can't wait!
Just found your channel. Loved how you presented the information so have a sub. I'm really looking forward to this game. It ticks alot of boxes for me, even some I didn't know about. The game seems very complex so Its nice to have some one to explain all the little details I might over look till later on in my playthrough. I'll be watching all your vids to learn all I can so I can enjoy my game more when I get the chance to play it.
Just found your channel, and feel so lucky it showed up in my feed. Your video content, structure, and dialog are all on point ❤ Looking forward to seeing more as I start my own Nightingale play through 🎉
Funny how the umbrella (parasol) doesn't throw a shadow .. when shadow is what you need to avoid overheating .. physics in progress .. :-D Thanks for the clear explanations.
Lovely clips! Thanks for all the info Question: How prevalent are attacks on your base in Abeyance and more dangerous realms? I really want to build a sort of fort-like base that I'll defend against attacking enemies (like they show in the desert biome in the intro clip we saw for the stress test). Is this something I can expect, especially in more difficult realms, and if so how focused is the game on this? Can we expect real attacks or is it just random enemies in a small group of 3-4 that happen to pass by? Any info on this would be greatly welcomed!
I think I might make a separate video going into this in detail but the quick answer is that your base will be as dangerous as you make it. Abeyance realms are pretty peaceful by default, but you can craft cards to create a really dangerous realm with eternal night and constant mob spawns if you want to play 'tower defense'.
Holy crap, you can use the bow to activate those switches?! That's awesome!! I noped out of a map because I thought I had to find a way to hit them. One was SO far up in the air on a floating platform and I couldn't figure out how to get up there🤦🤦😄😄
Thanks for your videos, really cleared up a bunch of stuff, good quality of life tips too. Was curious on a few more things: - Can you move player made portals around while they're active without losing the connection? - Are there any limits in terms of where you can build? Specifically inside/on top of POI's? For example, that cave POI in the desert with the stairs leading down, can you build down there? Was my understanding the enemies don't respawn. - Can the NPC followers use ranged weapons if you give them to them? I didn't get a chance to try it in the stress test since their inventory was buggy. - Did you manage to unlock a larger storage container (for bases) at any point during testing? I assume they will exist, just haven't seen any footage of anyone using anything other than the knapsack basket things.
-I personally haven't tried moving a portal to test this, but I know for a fact that you can move FULL storage items without losing anything, so my guess is that you CAN move portals without closing them. -you can build ANYwhere in the game. The caves would be a cool place for a base, and as long as it's not a boss arena or dungeon, it should work out fine. As far as enemies respawning, the Bound do respawn every night, but I'm not totally sure about the other mobs(i.e. the scorpions or bears in the caves) -I also didn't get a chance to test the NPCs with ranged weapons so we'll find out together on launch day! I'm curious how that would work with their ammo inventory? Maybe you'd have to consciously keep putting more ammo in their pack? -There are a ton of storage pieces eventually, different kinds of chests and shelves and so on. And the devs have confirmed they're going to work on crafting directly from storage during the EA period. Thanks for watching!
You make the bastille of intellect look so easy lol, I got one here that has 4 or 5 and cant see them all too so usually dunno which one is sounding :’)
@@the_dorkness actually just saw a video that showed the slingbow in action :P thx and had an agility one with those walls, it’s mostly so that the place is so huge I can’t see them all in one place :’) Will try again in a bit
Hey!!! Thanks for all of the great info!! I've been really looking forward to playing this game!!! Quick question: If you were to destroy your Antiquarian Desert portal and open a new one, would the Essence Trader restock with different items or still have his inventory cleaned out? Also, if you had a biome preference, could you just open multiple portals to your preffered biome and collect all of your essence from there? Then hop to another biome and head straight to the trader to clear him out without having to complete any POIs in that biome??
If you created a new realm it would technically be a 'new' Essence Trader, but the crafting stations and other schematics that he can carry would be pulled from the same pool of items. I do *think* that specific Schematics are tied to specific realm card combinations but I haven't been able to confirm that. As far as creating the same combinations of cards over and over to get different versions of that realm: I didn't test that on a public build that I can speak about so I don't know what the final build will be like. As soon as I know for sure, I'll be sharing that with y'all!
First off thank you for these instruction videos. For me they are game/life savers. I have a big question. I'm still new to game. I cannot figure out how to unluck those fire orange electrical/lightning portals. How do I do this? No I do not mean the main realm portals. I am still in my home base Abeyance Swamp realm.
Hi Ms Dork, From you experience, what's the different between each biome? I had a few hours off from stress test and only managed to gather few intel on them. Forest have rain and hails, Desert have ultra hot sun, swamp have poison water. Are there any other environmental obstacles other than what i had listed? Thanks
You've got the biggest differences covered, but I've also noticed the Forests & Deserts have a lot of mountain ranges where the Swamps are typically flatter. *Also, just want to mention that there are weather systems like rain or hail on any biome. At least I've also def seen rain/hail on the Swamp.
@@the_dorkness i see, so in a way Desert is the hardest, Forest have more mountains compared to swamp, which have more water bodies that might be poisonous. Forest will take more time to travel, swamp can speed up in exchange of some health.
Yes, essence is used to buy schematics and recipes but ALSO used to 'upgrade' your weapons, so the essence colors move through the typical tiers of common, uncommon, rare, epic, and so on that we're familiar seeing on weapons in game.
Any realm that you spin up will keep all of your progress/pings/map stamps until you put the same combo of cards in and select 'reset realm' They just announced this new info in a a recent dev log.
I can't remember if you said anything about mounts or fast(er) travel options than running. A few times we see you running upwards of 1km in the game. Is there anything to cut down on the tedium? Do things happen in between to make it less boring? I saw sometimes monsters spawn nearby while you are running around and once there was something that looked like a trap?
There are no *confirmed* plans for mounts as of yet, but I think there are some cool opportunities for mounts with the steampunky aesthetic and fae creatures. There is a lot to explore in between the encounters I was showing off, but for the purposes of showing stuff off, I ran past a lot
Interesting what some people like and some don't. I'm not much into puzzles. Not that I can't solve them, but I find it frustrating in an Early Access game, as sometimes they are bugged and then it is a question of is this a bug or am I just not doing it right. I especially don't like sound puzzles, as I have hearing loss and also a noisy PC. This looks like a no go for me and this game. I'm disappointed that I probably won't be playing it, as some of the other features of this game are very interesting. Thanks for the great video though. Been looking for one to get an idea of whether I want to play the game or not and this helped me make that decision.
I'm sorry to hear that our paths won't cross in the Realms but I'm glad I could help! And who knows?! Early Access isn't for you but maybe changes made before Full release will draw you back!
This game looks really promising, idk when I’ll get around to it, but definitely on my radar. My one question, is there storage networking for crafting stuff at base and such?
Kinda be nice to know all the basics like what is 'hope', what a fae tower does... is it an upisoft lookout lower? is it a dungeon? This is the first video I'm watching on this game so it may be mentioned in an older video if there is one.
I do have a series "how to play nightingale" that goes deeper into that stuff on my channel! This video is just kind of an info dump so I could get info out as fast as possible!
@@the_dorkness Cheers for that. My friend has been trying to rope me into this game. Looking more into since it is getting closer to early access release on steam. 👍
@@the_dorknessI learnt from playing that you can use repair hammers on those wonderful defense mission. It helped me a lot, I hope that helps you too. :D

Each puzzle is procgen with similar aesthetics. And there are handcrafted one of a kind POIs throughout as well. I'm not sure if it can count as 'copy pasted' if no two can be solved the same way.
The CEO of Inflexion said that the 'main storyline' available right now in EA should take someone about 30 hours if they're *trying* to get it done ASAP. There story leads to a place that's not going to be available til closer to the end of EA, so there will a ton of content for us between now and then. As for the difficulty, there are multiple ways for you to set your own difficulty level throughout your play through, so you can have as challenging or chill of an experience as you're looking for. I'll try to go in depth about that on launch day when I make a video creating my new character!
The one thing I see that I don't like...is there is no actual map, lol. Just a blank piece of paper with some markers, haha. I'm used to seeing actual maps with roads and deserts and forests, ect.
Hi, Are you allowed to talk about the story or is that still under NDA? I'm curious how much of a story arc there will be versus just repetitively making realms and doing POIs. Kind of worried that the POIs will quickly become repetitive and boring.
I can tell you this: the main plot of Nightingale is that there was a disaster in the human world, and we wake up as a human taking refuge in the Fae Wilds. The pre-existing portal network used by humans has broken down, so we are surviving and exploring to find a way back to the safety of the last Human Bastion within the Fae realms (the City of Nightingale). The game is loosely inspired by a book called "Johnathon Strange & Mr Norrell" and there are a ton of characters with quests inspired by that genre/era of literature!
