    I've been super impressed with the quality and customer service of Darwin's! It literally saved my cats life after being diagnosed with diabetes and IBD from a lifetime of kibble (I was sadly formerly ignorant about feline nutritional needs...) I've used them for two years, affordable and good quality but their customer service was also impressive. Once my cat wasn't as eager to eat his food, after a few days I called Darwin's to see if there was any other customers having similar issues and they said "no, but we'll document your concern and let you know if anyone else has concerns" and they sent me a fresh batch JUST IN CASE! It was unexpected in this day of poor customer service!

    We love Darwin’s ! Have been feeding it for a year now. I do wish the bone content was a little lower as we exclusively feed it.

    My cat ate some Darwin’s yesterday, about 1/3 of the serving. She then stopped eating and just sat there. I immediately knew something wasn’t right. Couple minutes later, she walked away and started vomitting. She didn’t touch food again until about noon, but wouldn’t even come close to Darwin’s, so I gave her Tiki Cat and he appetite returned and she’s fine. What could have cased her to vomit Darwin’s? I gave her raw beef pieces, raw salmon and shrimp, and chicken wing- and she never had a problem.

    Is it recommended that a cat only eats raw grounded food? Won’t their jaws become weaker over time for not chewing on bones or kibbles?

    I have a question that you may be able to help with. My grandma has a 17 year old dachshund who is the pickiest eater ever. He refuses kibble, canned food, and even most home cooked foods. All he eats is cooked ground beef, how can we get him to fill all the nutritional gaps?? I’m worried for his health he has dementia and very limited mobility.
    Edit: His vet told us to feed him rice and human food but that it, and he isn’t interested in it.

    • @spot.doodle
      @spot.doodle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should buy him drops for nutrional gaps since he doesn’t like most food. Dog safe of course though. You can also look for vitamin oils for dogs. For instance, I have LifeFlo iodine drops (safe for human and dogs) for my dog to fill in iodine gap. Also wheatgrass can fill in magnesium and zinc requirements if you try mixing it in his meat. Adding sardines and herring can fill in DPA too!

    I actually found a raw diet kibble! The brand name is nature’s variety instinct the raw brand and it’s a pure raw diet kibble with no extra ingredients! And they have it for dogs and cats!
    (Beef version) The ingredients for dogs are: beef, beef liver, pumpkin seeds, beef spleen, carrots, apples, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    (Rabbit version)For cats the ingredients are: rabbit (including ground rabbit bone), pork, pork liver, pumpkin seeds, carrots, apples, butternut squash, rabbit liver, rabbit kidney, rabbit lung, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    And they have plenty of flavors too like beef, rabbit, pork, fish, etc…
    The point is I think you should definitely try this new stuff because it is amazing!
    The price for a small bag is about 15 dollars and the price for a large bag is about 30 dollars.

      I wish! I worked in a pet store for 2 years and my specialization was in raw food. I’ve fed primal, instinct, vital essentials, honest kitchen, state of nature and more raw and pseudo raw brands. Instinct has a kibble line, at the prices you mentioned. Kibble is not raw. The freeze dried bites, which are the ingredients you’ve mentioned out, are only included in their kibble, the majority of the bag is kibble with raw nibs sprinkled in. It is not all raw in the kibble bags. The frozen bags are all raw and the price reflects that.

    I recently got a puppy and want to add raw foods but I asked my neighbours because they've had dogs for so long... They said don't do it, puppies get hotspots (main concern) and more bacterial infections on raw, so cook the meat prior... Please do a video on that, and how you trim nails and clean ears🤯💕

      Raw food doesn’t make dogs or puppies sick. She made a video regarding this topic. My dog has been raw fed for a while now and he’s way healthier than he used to be. :) Dogs are meant to eat this way.
      Also, you can trim your dog’s nails yourself but it’s best to have a groomer to clean and trim the nails if you are not experienced.

      Vet tech here. No, not for cats. Cats don’t naturally have that drive to drink from a bowl/lake/puddle. They are supposed to get water from their food. The more the better! A cat will stop eating far before it overdoses on water. Hope this helps someone

    What are your thoughts on feeding a raw diet to cats with IBD? My cat was put on Hill's Prescription diet Z/D food, but ended up needing a steroid shot to get his inflammation down because the food alone wasn't helping. After the one shot he is doing fine now, but I am concerned at how high in carbohydrates all of the prescription diets are. He has gained weight seemingly rapidly with the new food, and I was never really explained why of all food ingredients in kibble the protein is what was causing the IBD flare up in my cat. I want to provide higher quality food for him, but I don't know how raw or fresh food will fare with this IBD

    • @KL-hr7rk
      @KL-hr7rk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Find a raw-positive vet. They’ll help. Hills is a great way for bad vets to keep your pets sick so they keep coming back.

    • @kaitlynmoore2633
      @kaitlynmoore2633 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Update: About 2 weeks after the steroid shot he got worse again, so I just took the plunge with the raw food and completely switched without transitioning. It did take finding the right “flavor” to get him started, he was put off by the lack of smell I think, but let me tell you all he IMMEDIATELY had better disposition and regular poops once he was eating the raw food. It’s crazy. He now eats any raw cat food and hasn’t had an issue since we switched. My regular happy and playful cat is back, I was so relieved because I was scared my cat wouldn’t live long with how we was doing. Definitely finding a raw-positive vet. Can’t argue with the results. Best decision ever✊🏼

      @@bigfrankentertainment I ended up starting my cats on Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried raw food, at first they would only eat the salmon and cod but at least it was a start. My cat with IBD was already immediately better once he started this food. After a while, they both started eating all the other proteins they had to offer, and now I can feed practically any brand of freeze dried raw. My cat with IBD still won’t touch regular raw food but my other cat will. The only protein my cat with IBD cannot eat is beef - doesn’t matter what brand or anything, he throws it up. But, we have never had to go back to the vet ever since the switch other than for annual shots. The vet has continually said how healthy he is now and at a healthy weight. Best of luck to you!

    Would adding another secreting organ into each meal and a raw meaty bone once a week or so be sufficient if feeding Darwin's? Is there additional supplements I could/should be adding without going over what the Darwin's ground already provides?
