  • While it's certainly more work than pouring kibble into a bowl, making a raw meal for your cat can be a lot easier than you may think once you start to understand how to formulate it.

    My cat flora transitioned waaaaay faster then i was expecting. Im talking like 5 days. I was going to do the whole kibble to wet to raw but i gave her some blended meat next to her wet and she ate it. I couldn't find the same wet food she liked but she prefers the meat over the two fancy wet foods i got for her to try. Im stoked. Now i need to get all the add ins and go to the farmers markets in my area to try to find a second organ for her and my pup seven, who initially started me on this raw food adventure. Thanks for your videos! They've really helped to guide me in the right direction in terms of research. I appreciate you.

    My two cats are doing so well on this diet! One of them Oliver, never even touched wet food before, no matter what kind I offered. He was the first one to take to raw and loves it 💙
    I’m crossing my fingers that Murphy won’t get allergies. He’s not even 1 yet and has been back and forth to the vets with rodent ulcers. Raw felt like a better solution than a diet of 100% hydrolysed kibble. Time will tell.

    I have been researching raw diets for cats for quite awhile and only just now found your channel. Thank you for educating me more in just a few videos than I have been in 4 to 6 months. I'm in the process of getting them (and me) on scheduled feedings. Two are on a prescription kibble and the third is on regular kibble. None of them have ever cared for wet food, so I'm dragging my feet about taking the kibble away from them. I know the raw is healthier for them, I don't know if they'll eat it. Wish me luck, please, and thanks again for the education!

    Thanks to your videos I switched my cats to raw. It has been an easy switch as my market has a wide diversity and heart is readily available and we already consumed it in the house. so Thank you! | I have a question on the mussel. You add a whole cooked mussle for this 1 meal. How many mussles should the a cat (mine is 11lb) have per week? What are the differences in nutrition for cooked vs freeze dry vs oil capsule. Also, if I could ask a secondary question: How much Kelp powder should there be in a balance diet %?

    Could you maybe do a video on the proper amounts of supplements. Such as kefir, goats milk, kelp or mussels. I’m curious to know this. Like how much to feed a 10 lbs dog or a 50 lbs dog. (Even though I only have pet rabbits)

    • @user-yf7up7ko8f
      @user-yf7up7ko8f 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They need to be fed 2-3% of their body weight per day. So if you have a 8 pound cat, they need to eat a 1/4 pound per day. So, you make a quarter pound of food using these inclusion percentages and voila, you're good to go!

    • @user-yf7up7ko8f
      @user-yf7up7ko8f 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's easier to use scales if you calculate in grams. So, an 8 pound cat weighs 3628 grams. 3% of that is 108.8 grams per day. That breaks down to 6.54 grams of bone; 5.45 grams of the secreting organ; 91.56 grams of muscle meat and 5.45 grams of heart = 109 grams. The supplements should be given based on body weight dosage listed on the packaging.

    two things that worry me here is that we combine several different animals/proteins in one meal. isn't mono protein diet better? In wild, when a lion catches antelope, he eats antelope ONLY. then he goes and catches a rabbit. He does not eat a rabbit and an antelope and a mouse and a fish AT THE SAME TIME. Second thing: where do cats normally eat beef or pork in the wild? They don't. the same for sea fish. If a cat lives far from the sea, he never has a chance to eat sardines in his entire life. I am not against raw diet - on the contrary. But these 2 things bother me a bit. If you could share your thoughts on this please. I love your videos and find them precious :)

And you have talked about blue mussel powder, oppose to green mussel powder for manganese. But I'm having trouble finding blue mussel powder, do you know any good online sources for blue mussel powder? • @rachelwilbur9512

      Just chewing may give some dental benefits but they actually have to consume the bone to meet the calcium requirements which is very important. If your cat has dental issues then maybe a premade diet with ground bone would be a good alternative or you can substitute eggshell powder as a calcium source (for adult cats only, not for growing kittens).

    Cats completely raw and proud (cat crap) on facebook is phenomenal. One of my favorite things about them is that they dont recommend any supplements aside from raw eggs and canned sardines for the average diet for the average cat (certain conditions like ckd have different requirements and they address those). Raw feeding doesnt have to fry your brain. Collect lots of information, use helpful charts/calcultors, and figure out how to best manage it yourself. I will never suggest feeding anything other than raw, but thats bc i know diy raw ,an be easy and i know it can be just as cheap as (if not cheaper than) a prepared diet.

    • @RoukxWolf

      My cat refused to eat heart, lung, kidney, and spleen when I first introduced them to her. She won't eat if it's cooked, she wont eat if it is blended with water because she doesn't like mushy, wet food. I assumed she didn't like the texture. So I cut them up into thin strips. Then mix them into the cuts of chicken breast meat that I know she loves. I'll also drizzle the fluid that comes out of the chicken meat to "scent" the organ meats. I keep the ratio of meat she likes higher than the ones she doesn't like and gradually over a few weeks add more organ meat each time until it reached her daily requirement. She's still picky but at least she eats most of it now. On good days, she cleans her plate. Good luck!

    (Beef version) The ingredients for dogs are: beef, beef liver, pumpkin seeds, beef spleen, carrots, apples, butternut squash, ground flaxseed, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    (Rabbit version)For cats the ingredients are: rabbit (including ground rabbit bone), pork, pork liver, pumpkin seeds, carrots, apples, butternut squash, rabbit liver, rabbit kidney, rabbit lung, dried kelp, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil, rosemary extract, blueberries, and dried chicory root. The use monomorillonite clay for shape, mixed tocopherols as a preservative, and freeze dry it.
    And they have plenty of flavors too like beef, rabbit, pork, fish, etc…
    The point is I think you should definitely try this new stuff because it is amazing!

But from what I’ve gathered, not sure if I saw it mentioned in this channel or another vet’s any cheap wet food is still better than high quality kibble because they need more moisture/ water in their food. But dry kibble is still better than an unbalanced raw diet (like just feeding them ground beef and an egg and excluding everything else their body needs)
