Just 1-2 plastic balls at 10 pins per league in warm ups. I leave less than 1 10-pin per game and yet it is my most common leave! Makeable spares are only at 85%. 95% would be great!
Great video. I can't stress enough how important practicing your spares is. I try to do an entire spare shooting session at least once a week. If there's a leave you struggle with, I find trying different angles on the approach helps. The one spare I used to have ALOT of trouble with for some reason, was the 3-6-10. I would miss it quite often. I moved further left to go more cross lane at it and I'm much more consistent at covering it now. I always tell people don't practice to just try to throw strikes the entire time, because there may come a time where you need to make a conversion that could cost you the match if you miss.
My spare practice is throwing a 12# maxim with some surface down 10 at 16ish mph 400 rpm. That usually leaves some random spare to pick up. I do specifically target certain boards with the maxim so I guess that's accuracy training as well? I know mixing weight has bad juju, but I'm really strong and for the longest time I thought the maxim WAS 15#. Even knowing it's 12# I still don't feel a difference between it and my 15#.
question: I dont use plastic or urethane, at all. Would it be smarter for me to get an asym. hybrid and a sym. hybrid to fill in the 2 spots, or do i just get more solids/pearls?
I have many questions for both the USBC and Storm. Objectivity and critical thinking are required but that seems to be a lost art these days. Everyone will believe what they choose regardless of what the truth may be. Facts say we just don’t have enough information to make an informed decision on the subject.
When learning to hook a bowling ball what style of drilling is the best set up for ball hooking? I have 2 different balls both are not finger tip drilled was that a bad idea i really want to know how to get a ball to hook
I believe bowling is all about timing, rhythm, consistency. So, I do not practice moving all over the lanes. I do not do any spare practice. My place on the lane is standing pretty much in the middle and just rolling the ball over the second arrow. I focus on my form be smooth. I focus on my last step being soft and solid. I four on a nice relaxed release with my fingers on the inside of the ball and not coming around the ball so much. I try to focus on a real nice push away timed properly with my feet. Well, you get the idea. I am less concerned about the lane condition. More concerned on how I bowl. I feel very confident that when I focus on these basics that I can make the adjustments to different lane conditions. And, that I can make my spares. To me, its all about the basics and confidence in them. I watch a lot of Earl Anthony videos on TH-cam to inspire me!
QUESTION: What is your spare rotation during practice?

Exact same thoughts! I was having a lot of trouble with 10s and now not so much
Mikey, I also struggled most of this season with the 3-6-10. I made the opposite move and thr
... throw more or less straight up 12-board, with more success.
Excellent video Gents!
Love the tip about 5 seconds, 5 minutes and 5 hours. That's a new one for me

Expect the unexpected...like the USBC banning 6 balls mid-tournament.

Fingertip will put your hand in a better position to rotate around the ball, and should help you hook the ball more
Do vacu grips hurt your fingers?
The vacuum grips feel much better in my opinion. Don’t have to jam my fingers in the bowling ball anymore. -Jimoo
My rotation is 10 pin to 7 pin to 6 10 and last is 7 3
Great
