Props to that lady who actually brought the puppies to a animal shelter instead of just dumping on the side of the road.
True. The puppy we adopted from a shelter when I was a child had been found on the side of a highway in a cardboard box. But the responsibility should start earlier than taking puppies to the pound, so please spay or neuter your pets, people.
I know right. A shelter near my college has set up cages outside for people to drop off animals since people sometimes feel ashamed to drop off and it lets people drop off anytime of the day

@@lindsaydale307 Horrible (that that needs to exist), but if it keeps people from throwing animals in the trash, I'll take it. Here in Germany, we have a similar thing for babies, terrible as it is. It's called "Babyklappe", there's about 90 in the whole country. You can put a baby in a climatized hatch anonymously, an alarm goes off and someone comes to take care of the child. Horrific, but at least the baby gets a chance if the mother is too overwhelmed for adoption and in danger of getting rid of the baby some other way (the idea grew out of a dead baby being found in the trash). Somewhere in Germany there is also a paddock with the same logistics for horses.

All the way. As an animal science pre vet student I see way too many animals being euthanized simply because there aren’t enough homes and resources for them. Don’t go to breeders! Always adopt/rescue.
I will always get a dog from reputable breeders as that is my preference in what I want and need in a dog, but I do also support rescue and breed rescues were invented by reputable breeders wanting to help dogs of their breed (or mix) to find good homes. So we can’t be against reputable breeders and plus, without them, domesticated dogs will go extinct. What we DON’T need are puppy mills or supporting backyard breeding!

@@honeysucklecat I don't particularly like dogs. Their personalities are too extroverted for me and they require too much effort. I like cats because they're not as demanding and I can just sit with them and pat them for a couple of minutes, then leave them be. I hate an excited dog bounding up to see me, or lick me, or jump on me. I find it really unappealing.

German Shepherds have such handsome faces.
We rescued our German Shepherd from the local shelter about 6 years ago. She's been a true blessing to our family. My very best friend..and never left my side during chemo. 💜🐕

Completely agree with you. 💙. The shift is gradual but moving in that direction (vegan). And Seeing more vegan options in this country (USA) than ever. Thirty years ago, when visiting Christchurch, New Zealand, there were so many vegetarian restaurants, saw them on every corner.

What is most beautiful about this adoption is that it's not done for cynical, political reasons. It happened because the Bidens had empathy for that puppy and chose to make him part of the family. As the parent of many adopted strays over a lifetime, it warms our hearts to know that the White House will have Rescued animals as part of our new First Family.
Hopefully, they can help clear our shelters by encouraging others to consider opening their homes and their hearts to a dog or cat in need of a "forever home". We did and our lives have been made so much richer for having done so. :)
That is a beautiful dog. My German shepherd is 12 and we will lose him soon. I will cry in secret every day

I got my German Shepard in May of 2020 and before we got in the car for a 5 hour drive we knew his name was going to be major. So glad I got to see this so cute!
