Mahler: Symphony No. 2 in C minor 'Resurrection' Mov V (1/2)
Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela
Gustavo Dudamel, conductor
Miah Persson, soprano
Anna Larsson, mezzo-soprano
National Youth Choir of Great Britain - เพลง
This orchestra of young musicians from the Republic of Venezuela, play with a rare confidence that few professional orchestras from Europe and the USA have. Maestro Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Orchestra have the entire score memorized. Any conductor who relies on a score, is just doing the last rehersal. Dudamel produces an event. Their music education, including Dudamel's was paid by the Venezuelan Government. And, this is its gift to the world.
I have watched this so many times. How I would have loved to have been at this performance. It's phenomenal.
7:40 is just... Absolutely astounding and awe-inspiring.. It sends chills down every crevice of my spine when I hear those trombones dawn a new day
I cannot get over just how damned good these young players are - ok there are a few intonation problems, not unusual in an orchestra of this size,. but their shere professionalism is astounding. Abreu, Dudamel and all these players have made an enormous contribution to the musical arts and deserve nothing but the highest praise and recognition.
there isn't one reason to dislike this perfect work!
Rafael Payare, the music director of Montreal Symphony Orchestra, is playing horn in this video. Wonderful!
Maestro Abreu: Venezuela is deeply and eternally grateful for El Sistema, and what it has done for us, both as individuals and as a community. Hopefully, one day the world will be equally grateful.
Gustavo: ¡Qué grande eres! Gran orgullo de mi amada tierra crepuscular y musical, y de nuestra bella Venezuela. ¡¡Bravísimos!!
The best movement ever composed in music in my opinion.
The best movement ever written currently is another one, but this one here is on the second place in my opinion. 😉
@@Dylonely42 Beethoven, "Choral" Mvt 4 😊
@@ingorichter649 It’s really good one, it surely inspired Mahler for his second symphony. I would personally put at least in top 5.
@@Dylonely42
Certainly top 3 both of them for me, but i have to say the 3rd movement of the 132oo string quartet from Beethoven is the most divine thing I've ever hear! These two come right behind. Fourth for me is between Beethoven's Cavatina, Mahler's 8th, and Bach's Chaconne
What a great symphony!!! What a great performance!!
Absolutely spine chilling, fantastic, climax at 11.30 beyond belief. Agree entirel with TheVaughan 5. We oldies who love classical music love it even more when we see youth carrying on as we would want.
Impossible to describe such great work!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤What a PERFORMANCE!!!! BRAVO BRAVISSIMO
A performance of great precision and power. The amount of detail in the music is exceptional for this symphony in perfomance.
Who was the idiot who disliked this. This is one of the best, if not THE best performance of Mahler 2 I have ever heard! I should know, I wrote a dissertation on Mahler!
I agree. This is an astonishing performance. Also check out Dudamel's live performance of Shostakovich's 10th. Even better even than Kondrashin's I think.
Creés que sos el ombligo del mundo??
Qué a vos te guste no quiere decir que le guste a todo el mundo.
Amo la música clásica y eso me parece HORRIBLE!!!
Graciasssss por este maravilloso regalo. Súper agradecida.
Who can be so stupid in life as to dislike this video?... great execution by Gustavo!
vashnator don't forget the other Gustav too.
8:20 . Que perfecto lo ha hecho ese platillo 👏👏👏
MAGNIFICO! BRAVO, MAESTRO DUDAMEL!
this is a perfect symphony!
wow that part from 16:50 to 17:35
AMAZING
Brilliant orchestration.
Thank you so much for sharing this video :) Rare feelings flow through me ^^
Was Daniel Barenboim für Beethoven, ist Gustavo Dudamel für Mahler. ❤
Dudamel y la Orquesta sinfónica Simón Bolivar y Resurrección, de principio a fin verdaderamente imperial
beautiful beautiful low brass section!
to my opinion, better sound than the recording of Chicago + Solti.
Bravo!
Definitely the best performance ever of this magnificent work, and I include the final movement, also here on TH-cam..I was privileged to sing I this many years ago, it turned me to Mahler and have loved his music ever since.
12:24 perhaps the most exciting part of the work
The Romans are coming!
7:40 is breath taking :o amazing job by the low brass 👍
This moment is the best moment of music history!
+Keith Acheson (kbachy101) I hate the principal trombone's face so bad, but it still takes my breath away.
+Keith Acheson (kbachy101) Never mind, I like it.
+Joe Phillips lol :)
My Tutti Celli 🙏👌
What a beaty...
Finally an army of trumpets
Just saw it performed yesterday to perfection by Zubin Mehta and the LA Phil. All 6 trumpets are only used occasionally (not to mention the offstage forces). But the writing for the principal 4 trumpets together was just glorious.
8:35 !!!!!!!!!! wow
@padredemishijos12
Thank you The Venezuelan Government. What a wonderful gift.
From Wales UK.
Rotary value trumpets galore !!!
That horn at 2:00 minutes.
Paul Tietzen Both Dudamel and Estrada conduct Mahler from the heart, as did Abbado more subtly. Not to the benefit of the those without hearts!
7:43 - 11:01 Holy shit O_O;
The percussion build-up from 11:07 is almost unbearable in its intensity.
My favorite part of the entire symphony
To Tor Quemada , if you refer to the goverment of Chavez , nothing to do , I have heard to many classical venezuelan musicians say that they never received aid from Venezuelan goverment. They were dedicated only to consecrate the Revolution of XXI century .If Dudamel is where he is , it is because his talent and geniality ,learned from the great Conductors of XX century , Bernstein, Karajan,Ratle, ................That is what he is the principal conductor of Los Ang. P.O.
Marcelo Uzcategui
I wonder where the offstage brass group actually is.. Like is it in the choir pit, or is it like somewhere along the walls of the chamber? It's sounds very echoey, so it must be far off
Have you looked closely at structure of the Royal Albert Hall? It has one of the finest, if not THE finest acoustics in the world. The brass sound goes all around the ceiling and down again.
This half of the finale is so driving and awesome, but it doesn't compare to the second half.
Will be it release on DVD?
Sadly no.
Woooooohhhhhooooo hold it..... did i hallucinate or did i really see 5 dislikes (as of May 2015)
Holy crap, 11:25 has the biggest forehead.
