Right! Heavy metal's for kids; turn them off the distortions and it's only plink - plonk- plink. The 10th's allegro's the real deal!!! Proper heavy stuff!
Ojalá cunda el ejemplo. the fun thing about the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela is that when Dudamel ended up having all this success, more and more, there were older and older people started joining the orch. It's not a youth orchestra anymore lol
I'm going to break my own rules. I don't believe in the 'best' or 'greatest' but for me this the greatest symphony yet written, & this the best performance I've heard. Shostakovitch sees EVERYTHING. Love, beauty, grandeur, horror, cruelty, everything that is in this world. And it's driving him insane. The section starting about 12.40 (I wish I knew the technical terms for his genius, but whatever techniques he uses are always subservient to his music, his humanity) develops at 17 minutes into the most distraught, compassionate piece of music I've ever heard. Yes, Gene, yes, yes, yes !! We know that this is a result of a wonderful project, called El Sistema, where maestro Dudamel came from. Unfortunately, however, this project, supported by the Venezuelan government, probably won't last. And, also as ever, will cut social costs, in the name of "financial equilibrium", which means, more money to the riches.

Oh how I have to wished to have been attendance for this performance. This is the GREATEST performance of my favourite symphony ever. Thanks ever so much for posting
At 125 plus committed and competent musicians (with a good amount above the usual compliment of strings) the second movement, taken at the extreme end of the tempo indication, sounds even more menacing, hectoring and impactful than usual. Overwhelming barely begins to describe it and the rest of the performance as well. Bravo to the orchestra and Dudamel. Simply a composition of great breadth and depth of feeling/emotions (and of high craft, of which DSCH was most proud)...in the tradition of someone whose work he admired deeply, Mahler.
Absolutely amazing! This God of a conductor Dudamel brings out another awe inspiring performance from one of the best orchestras I have ever heard. These young people bring life to music like no other, as if they are playing for their lives, with all their heart. I cannot commend them enough for such fine performances. They are all stars that shine with brilliance under this amazing genius of our time. I only hope am lucky enough to one day watch them perform live. What a wonder to hear and behold. Bravo! Bravo!!!

Assolutamente fantastico.
¡Bravo, Dudamel, Brava OSJSB! In my opinion, a great version and a great orchestra. Thanks, Gustavo Dudamel!
the ending brings me so much joy. dudamel looks so proud of the orchestra, the audience explodes with applause (and that really loud "hey!" i love it omg), it's just so pure c: dudamel is so full of energy the entire time and doesn't even break a sweat from what i can tell? and you can tell at the end he knows it was a damn good performance too and it just makes me so happy to watch this cx one of the best interpretations too, by far! thanks so much for uploading this! made my day :D
All orchestras in Venezuela are double sized due to the abundance of fine musicians. I have seen the combination of two large orchestras, and it amazing. Only in Venezuela.
What a terrific performance! One of my favourite works - vast, cold and very Siberian! And what a terrific orchestra! Kids like these certainly bring joy and hope into the world. viva la Orquesta Juvenil Simón Bolívar!
I love the expression(s) on Dudamel's face around the 32:00 mark... I have no words! He's completely uncanny. Amazing. Over the past few months I've watched this video so many times that I can practically see it with my eyes shut, but somehow it never gets old.
I play this nearly every day, sometimes more than once. It never fails to inspire and awe me at the great talent displayed here, as well as the genius of the work. Shostakovitch held his displeasure with Stalin inside all his life, then this exploded forth at the news of Stalin's death. Never have I been so overjoyed to celebrate someone's death so much along with the composer. And Stalin did it to himself. Imagine, even his doctors were terrified to touch him as he lay gasping for breath on the floor. A fitting end, as Shostakovitch certainly lets the brass and woodwinds blow out their breaths in happiness at his passing.
I listen to this music again and I think that what I hear is absolute musical perfection, which has not been equaled since Shostakovich wrote this symphony. When I listen to this recording of Shostakovich's Tenth Symphony, I not only hear the music, but I experience the whole history of the XXth century, with all its atrocities, which are still being repeated in the XXI century. No other orchestra or conductor in the world can match the orchestral sound as it is played and as it is recorded.
Great interpretation! Fearless and most enthusiastic! The brass might be a tad too controlled (but I'm being a bit highly demanding and too used to Russian brass that is OUT of control).
Damn, what a stunning performance!!! Interesting to see the various Dudamel/SBYO videos where the trumpets sometimes play piston or rotary valved trumpets...BRAVO Maestro Dudamel and the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela!!!!!!!

Hard to find the appropriate words, I want to bathe in this wonderful piece, need to find a way to get to see this amazing man. The passion from these young people and Gustav is awe inspiring, thank you for keeping GREAT music alive. Bravo to Venezuela for supporting and maintains this program.
Immensely powerful and expressive for such young musicians. They are immensely talented.
I just remembered why this is my favorite symphony. . .
Oh how I have to wished to have been attendance for this performance. This is the GREATEST performance of my favourite symphony ever.
Thanks ever so much for posting
HOLA BUENAS NOCHES, AMADO DIRECTOR DE ORQUESTA, GRACIAS POR LLENAR MI ALMA DE LUZ,ELEVACION Y PAZ ¡MIL BENDICIONES! MIL GRACIAS! 🌹🌹🌷🌷❤❤❤❤🇻🇪🇻🇪🇻🇪🇻🇪🇻🇪
Bravo! Bravo!!!
Impresionante.
Así mismo. :')
Dudamel,un Mago!!

Fenomenale interpretatione. Grande Maestro di Musica - D. Shostakovich.
This is one of the best renditions of this fantastic symphony...the musicians may be younger, but they play like very mature individuals! Greeeeeeeat!
One of the most powerful and beautiful introductions to any piece of music. Wonderful. A great piece of music by one of the all time great composers. And so beautifully played as well. So good. Thank you.
Shostakovich, Symphony 10 in E minor, Op.93

KamKam2004 C 1st for me
2nd is the best
Assolutamente fantastico.
You really should be proud. They are quite extraordinary and a real credit to humanity.

Best performance of this Symphony I´ve ever heard.
Besides being performed well, this is one of the greatest symphonies of all time. So beautifully composed.
Spectacular performans, fascinating!Dudamel is my favorite conductor
How can you NOT just love this? Simply amazing.
Every time, this piece leaves me close to tears. Very powerful
Me too, even two minutes in... 😂😂😂
Breathtaking. Behold what socialized music programs can produce. Corporations produce stuff. People produce true beauty. Bravo.
Simply magnificent! I love the work of Gustavo Dudamel!
One of my favorite symphonies...and this is my favorite performance. Bravo to the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra!
The best ever performance to date. Five stars!

Wonderful performance! Bravo Dudamel and the orchestra!
Incredibly great -- both the marvelous performance and Shostakovich's brilliant symphony.
¡Bravo, Dudamel, Brava OSJSB! In my opinion, a great version and a great orchestra. Thanks, Gustavo Dudamel!
every time I hear DSCH it just makes me smile
the ending brings me so much joy. dudamel looks so proud of the orchestra, the audience explodes with applause (and that really loud "hey!" i love it omg), it's just so pure c:
dudamel is so full of energy the entire time and doesn't even break a sweat from what i can tell? and you can tell at the end he knows it was a damn good performance too and it just makes me so happy to watch this cx
one of the best interpretations too, by far! thanks so much for uploading this! made my day :D
I replayed the piece again today. very, very powerfull indeed. great perfection and greatly directed.
A performance of immense maturity. Astonishingly musical. They must have had many sectional rehearsals with very fine tutors
In Venezuela, despite fake reports, socialism works. This performance is the proof.
How can you sit through this and not be applauding the entire time!!! So much excitement and emotion!
Wow! Amazing Enthusiasm And A Brilliant Performance' The Dude Is Amazing. These Kids ROCK.
Amazing as ever . Please come back to the Proms soon
I played this last yr in my youth orchestra. Watching this again makes me remember how amazing playing it was
Great interpretation! Fearless and most enthusiastic! The brass might be a tad too controlled (but I'm being a bit highly demanding and too used to Russian brass that is OUT of control).
Wonderful concert! Gustavito I love you!!! 💖
Brilliant orchestra! Very epic & beautiful!!
Dudamel infuses so much energy to this Shostakovich piece!! BRAVO to the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil Simón Bolivar!!
The ending to this is just so full of joy. Saw this live with Los Angeles Phil and I just wanted to jump up and dance.
Every musician in this orchestra is a worldclass musician.
MY GOD this is absolutely amazing work and amazing performance!!! I'm tearing!!!
Sibelius suggests a story; Mahler tells a story; Shostakovich unfolds a story.
Insightful
Sinfonía. 11 Dmitri shosttakoovich
You don’t know anything about Mahler if you think he just “tells a story”. What a one sided way of looking at things
This Symphony is Aphex of Symphonysm of XX century.
