Great video. And a excellent example of why a small fighter screen is a must have IMO. Even just delaying a bomber wave 1 or 2 turns can make a big difference.
Absolutely. Even one generic squadron can tie up a bomber ball for a few attacks. That's 1-3 attacks that aren't hitting a ship.
Last match I played, I ran GAR against my opponent's squadron-less Imperials. My 5 Y-Wings, backed up by a Bomber Command Center Pelta, shredded his ISD.
Love this video. Empire vs. Cis is one of the best cross era faction battles. Keep up the good work.
We've been finding Empire vs CIS to be some of the more interesting ones lately. Tons more on the way!

Just wanted to thank you guys for your videos! Finally got to play my first ever Armada 400 point game yesterday and won with Admiral Sloane. Your videos along with DownSizeIt's videos really helped prepare me for it!

Infested fields is a horrible obj. Ken was at a disadvantage right off the bat and dealt with it as best he could. I love Tarkin and it's good to see someone still flies him. Better luck next time bud!
Tarkin is one of my favorite commanders. I’m going to find a good 400 point list eventually. LOL.

Nice batrep. Seeing a mighty ISD being no matched like this is always sad, though. Which brings the question : squadronless competitive list ; is it still possible ? What do you guys think ? (this is not a critic of Ken's list, just trying to understand the actual meta).
Part of the trick is to fly in a tighter formation so that anything wanting to bomb the ISD gets at least double flak guns coming its way from the arquitens. Ken also needed to fly much faster and get in John's face I think but always easy to be backseat admiral.. :-)
I'm not a squad-heavy player...but now that I picked up my first CIS squad pack, I need to get around to running them more.

Thanks guys, a fun game to watch. Too bad the ISD overlapped the Providence by a hair…might have escaped on the next turn at speed 3? Good to see the Grand Mof hit the table, haven’t seen him in a while. Interesting comment by John in the after battle about speeding up instead of slowing down to plow through the squadron ball…food for thought (and counter intuitive for a Cymoon that usually likes to slow roll and snipe). Haven’t yet tried hyperwave signal boost…dont yet have a build with squadrons that I don’t want to activate with dials or so many squadrons that I can’t activate enough of them.

I'm inclined to agree. I've used this list before with some success. It has a few weak spots though.

Curious, turn 4 the providence only made one attack? Reason why?
Slaughter..... Yikes!! this always happens when one bring a massive Squadron/Bomber ball and the opponent has zero fighter screen. Problem is you just never know what the other player has. Takes too long to chop squadrons down, should have just tried to destroy the ships pushing the squadron, this would have been my main target. Tactically one of the Arquitens should have been on the Starboard side of the ISD for flan protection. Great job to both Ken for putting up a great fight and to John for basically a fun squadron game.
I always thought Squadrons should have been a mod for ships to either defend to to add damage.. the Squadron game is sorta BS. takes away from what a FLEET ARMADA actually is, always had a problem with this. Should just primarily be a fleet vs fleet game. Dont get me wrong, I love playing Squadrons and using them, I just think that Armada should have been a focused Fleet Naval tactical game.

When something like the Cymoon has strong flak and gets swarmed by fighters, would consecutive engineering commands do enough to make a difference?
So of course the crit on the ISD is structural damage… the curse is back!
