The only real commands that seem of much use are squadrons and engineering and it’s hard to generate the number of squadron tokens/have enough squadrons in your fleet to use all four commands. Best I can come up with is a projection experts Trench fleet but there are much better commanders. I just finished running trench hyenas in the itc tts tournament and one of my matches was actually against plo koon (which I tabled actually). I ran all trench squad dials so I could mix up what my ships were doing individually (tikkes on the recusant which I ran instead of a providence) with a muni and bcc hardcell. Went 3-3, most of my losses were due to one or two big mistakes I made and the fact that most of my opponents were msu which the fleet tends to struggle against. I don’t think all the tri’s are the right call for trench, I think you really want to be leveraging the bombing power that hyenas offer. Love to fly it against one of you guys sometime!
@@IONRadio I believe Trench would be better in a 600 to 800 point match, points don't matter as much. Looking forward your next vid for the season lads!
@@maxwellsilver6032 There are a couple of commanders that really benefit at higher point levels. It will be interesting to see which ones we pick for potential future "bigger" games.
Great match guys! John's positioning of the providence near the station was key. Ken that first snipe of the game was great to take out that trifighter locking your guys down. I always enjoy squadron play/combat! I felt your pain on that snipe 4 Ken! Had you gone after the full health guy obviously you would have rolled one or two hits, that's just how it goes lol. Those black dice from the acclimator are why i prefer ordinance experts on them. I know with plo you want that flight controller but maybe the experts are better? Round 5 when Ken's arc attacked the trifighter on one halth next to the providence and whiffed he could have used bomber command to reroll. Might not have worked but you had the reroll chance. Again, awesome game! Also, watched this today on Saturday morning before going to my first armada tourney!
Thanks guys, Glad to see Trench hit the table: seeing get played is helpful to figuring him out. I haven’t found a better use for him than engineering spam with 1 or 2 hardcells with parts resupply with Tambor, Tikkes on the other ships. Throw in a projection experts somewhere. Until theres a way to get nav or squad tokens like parts resupply I can’t see any other viable alternative. For the points Thrawn is still the more versatile extra dial admiral. So for the time being, best to keep Trench under the coat (sorry, couldn’t resist :) )
I have played against a Trench list once and I found it very frustrating because my opponent just used him to queue up repair points and made it very difficult for me to get attacks through.

Hyenas and me have a very poor relationship due to them being red dice bombers. -John
Never used Trench. But, seems like using him with Parts & Munitions re-supply will mean you'll have the tokens on hand to get the use of his ability.

Totally agree. John and I were talking about that off-camera actually, and he'll probably mention a few things in next week's Backseat Admiral.

Minor error/typo: In Setup and Deployment, Trench's fleet is listed as having two Phlac-Arphocc Prototypes.

BCC - I think we realized we forgot it after the cameras stopped rolling. It didn’t matter. :)

Bcc only works on attacks vs ships. In the case of attacking a fighter it has no effect. -John

I think we are on the same page on trench. I'm going to discuss my thoughts more on backseat Admiral this week on him.
