god, this captures the game's vibe so well. the cryptic language, unexplained imagery, the feeling that these characters are talking with baggage from past conversations that you don't see as the player. genuinely one of my fave fanworks for how loyal it is to the subject material
Over analyzing this a ton but
I think this hallucination represents Jimmy as he sees himself. He wants to be a hero, like Curly is viewed, but he knows he is flawed and selfish, like Swansea. He let the crew down when he told them he was their last hope, like how Swansea let his kids down. Jimmy was the worst thing to happen to all of them just like Swansea with his kids. When Curly talks about merging memories to be a complete person, maybe it’s about how Jimmy feels like a mix of them. He doesn’t care for Anya at all, he only cares what her body can do for him and what she can do to keep Curly alive. He knows he’s nothing like Daisuke. He wants to be like Curly so bad that he feels them start to blur after the crash, but he knows he can’t fill those shoes. He’s too much like Swansea for that. I think the beginning with the axe in the door is also a hallucination, representing Swansea keeping him out because of his bitterness and mistrust of him. I’m probably way off but that’s just my interpretation

Swansea said he ran away to space because he couldn’t bear watching his son turn out like him. Similarly, in canon he told Daisuke something like “I don’t want you to become old and miserable like me” before killing him. Fix it in this context probably means putting him out of misery (both to get rid of his current pain and his miserable future)
“Maybe if we combine our memories we’d form a complete person” The parallel between Swansea and Curly here is interesting. Both of them tried to follow society norms in their own way: Curly went to university, got a job, got his promotion; Swansea got a mortgage, got married, had children. But neither of them feel happy or at peace. They both ran away from their lives and end up in space anyway.
I wonder if Swansea thinks of Curly like his son that came back. He’s kind of a middle ground between Daisuke (young, cheerful and hopeful) and Swansea (old, jaded and cynical). Like what Swansea is afraid of facing the most.
Also the “nope, all mine” at the end seems like a reference to the cake-eating fish in HFIM that’s pretty slick 👍

This is genuinely now my favorite piece of mouthwashing fanwork over all the ones I've seen since the game released, it's such a unique but extremely well written interpretation of the characters, I can't stop thinking about it!! This is canon to me now no one can change my mind

YOU ARE SO UNDERRATED . it captures the exact same vibe i got from the game, and it gave me chills, the writing is literally bang on straight from the game, this is INSANE, the cinematography is great as well, it’s all really thought out, and i hope you get the attention you deserve !

I would like to request one done about how Anya would sleep near the Polle statue because it detected movement, so she thought it would keep her safe from Jimmy. And then, he and Swansea broke it while they were drunk. I'd love to see that bro

God, I love this so much. People before have said it already but the cinematography, tension, atmosphere, everything is phenomenal and unbelievably underrated. Swansea’s dialogue here gave me that same heartache and sick, sad feeling that I got watching his speech during the real game, which is such an accomplishment! I certainly do hope you make more of these, you’ve got a new subscriber :P

i don't have any deep analysis or anything, this is a pretty surface level statement, but itfeels like at the end curly is begging to be put down and out of his misery. but swansea, like some sort of child, says "it's all mine, you can't have any". maybe thats just me idk
