i have 2 cheap mirrors from the dollar store. i tried this trick and there is no space between my fingers when I touch them. There is nothing behind them obviously. so this may not be for all mirrors

it just means that the mirror is 2 sided, it doesn’t automatically mean that someone is watching you, it means that it is possible in some circumstances
I just moved into a new master bedroom but I have roommates so I share walls and on the left wall side is where my landlord lives which she didnt tell me she was going to be my roommate. Anyways, that wall has a huge mirror embedded to the wall which faces the entire mid area of the room so 80% of the room is reflected in the mirror. The mirror is about 5 foot 7 in length and the same measurement in width. I told my friends about it & they told me to be careful & to look into doing this test. I tried it & there is no gap between my reflection when i touch with my finger. However, no light passes through. I covered my eyes with my hands, turned off all my lights and did this test at night time, even tried it again right now at day time & dont see anything on the other side. Its just pitch black. When i tried tapping/pushing against the mirror I feel minor space as the mirror goes back a little but it stops after half an inch of ot being pushed. I tried carefully removing the mirror a little with a flathead & I saw a bit if wall area behind it but that was just a small area Id seen. Havent confirmed yet if the whole mirror is the same behind it. I want to try removing the whole mirror but its installed into the wall so i have to cut through all the glue or whatever it was installed with & its going to cause noise. I might upload a video to show the mirror/room set up & try removing the mirror when the landlord's car is not here, that way I can do it when i think shes not home . isnt light suppose to shine through to expose the other side though if it was a 2 way?
Just use a bright light like phone light n put it on the mirror at night. If its two way the light will pass through. Do it at night with pitch black room. There's no need to dismantle whole thing. Update us what you finds.

When putting your finger on a mirror and there's a gap, that doesn't mean it's a two way mirror, that's all BS!! Old antique style mirrors will do that also, so it doesn't always mean that!!

it is just not true. The distance you see is the glas itself. a two way mirror works both ways. so if the layer is placed on the side away from you, then the distance looks the same as with a normal mirror.

One day I was in a Burlington bathroom that wanted to see if it was a one day mirror but then I was going to put my finger on it but then I realized that I was too scared because if somebody actually was watching me would be like such a terrifying thing and I wouldn't want to know so I did not

If your too scared to place your finger place an object instead like a pencil to see.
There will not be a gap if it is a front surface mirror
If your finger in ur reflection is near the mirror it just means its cheap
