I own one and love it. I don't care about fun driving or looks. it carries me and my stuff everywhere I want to go. perfect urban car that does ok on road trips. when I want to have fun I ride a motorcycle or get on my bicycle.
During the winter, most areas in Canada experience a lot of freeze/thaw cycles. Whenever it thaws, water soaks into asphalt, then it will usually freeze at night eventually causing a portion of the road to break lose. In one of these areas, you can expect new potholes all over the roads during the spring and chances are it will take until the next winter before they can repair them all. Happens here in Utah often too, and many other midwestern states where winter daytime temp rise above freezing
I have the 2014v Lx, it is a genius car that even after 10 years, runs perfectly and it make me hugely sad that they dont offer anything like this any more. stupid giant SUV's. Just had my annual inspection / service and they told me there is nothing wrong. nothing to change nothing to fix. I keep saving for the day I need my next ride but it does not look like I will need one any time soon.
Got one of these used, theres not enough rubber on those wheels for potholes ! Thats something i didnt think of i was aiming for a base model on 16" wheels
Kia has very good quality cars in our country. I drove the older style 7 passenger Rondo, and of course because it is a small cross-over ( like a small van/ wagon ) it was almost to useless having the third-row seating up. One of my front passengers said that it was like sitting up at a bar! Lol. I still like this vehicle, I might think of buying this one day :)
Really a shame that it's not sold here in the states. We have the 2009 Rondo LX with the old styling and it's been a very good car. Nothing fancy but very reasonably priced and great functionality. I would love to have the diesel version sold in Europe.
No, its because in Canada the temperature changes A LOT from very very warm, to very very cold. Normal asphalt roads shrink and expand with changing temperature, while also having cars drive over them relentlessly, thus causing potholes. Only concrete freeways don't get potholes because concrete roads are solid.
I get what you mean about the "on centre" feel about Kia vehicles. I'm a nerdy guy like you, I've had several driving jobs such as rental car driver and valet. I've driven almost every single type of vehicle and Kia does dial there steering in very oddly, which would probably keep me from buying a Kia vehicle. However the new Sorento doesn't suffer from the problem as much as the smaller cars do, such as the Optima, Rondo, Forte and Rio, all which have the vague on centre feeling.
It's a cross between a standard hatchback (Mazda3, Ford Focus) and an SUV. Doesn't sit quite high like the CX-9 it drove by in the intro. or that Chevy SUV. Quite diminutive actually. Nice overall car; I just wished it had more power and possibly offer AWD considering Kia is asking for $32k for the full spec'd out trim.
I've had a 2008 Rondo since it was brand new, it's really too bad that they won't have it in the US anymore. Us power hungry Americans would need the GDI version lol. I have the LXV6 now, it's alright on power I guess, I can't imagine it with any less. Everyone wants an AWD here.. so the Rondo sold terribly because those that wanted 7 passenger seating, needed the bigass AWD SUVs and such. I don't see why. I guess it's the culture. I think I'll import one of these, and put the GDI in it... haha.
how lucky finally in Australia we'll getting diesel version, the only let down I think the top end wont come with diesel the engine as follows: 2.0 GDI Petrol 1.7 CRDi Diesel
I had one of these as a rental. Looks great, great features etc but drive awful!!! Awful steering that is heavy n light at different times and the engine is unrefined and underpowered
What exactly does that mean? There is nothing carried over from the old kias in their new lineup. Ford was shit up until 2008 ish and nobody says 'still a ford'. Stop the hating.
Fuel economy does suck for a car this size! 24-25 mpg combined.........compare that with a larger awd cuv like a Rav4 (non hybrid) which gets pretty much the same. Too small and wheel wells too small for Canadian winters. Don't like the styling either...........getting tired of Hyundai/Kia designs
Engine died at 135,000 km. Which also took out catalytic converter in the process. Engine has manufacturing issues. Class action lawsuits in process. Kia won't do shit to help you. Total repair cost north of $10,000. Stay away from Kia and Hyundai.
Fuel economy sucks and the feel of the steering sucks too , just to bad cause the logical european monospace design is there . The new Fit ( Honda jazz ) is the most effective in this kind of car but is just too small . Maybe a Fit Shuttle ? Just like the previous gen Jazz Shuttle , an extended version of the base Fit .

They should sell this in the States.

Hi Zach, it is also sold in European markets as the Carens as well. You may have confused viewers by saying it's only available in Canada.

A Honest review. The way it should be done! Keep up the good work!
good job with your review - I liked the end "a nerdy guy like me"!
Finally a new review!!!

Your so LUCKY! I don't know why Kia stopped bringing them to the US this calls for an import!
I love to get this Car. Its a Dream to have it. As soon as I get you'll be the first person to know.
A teacher at my school misses this car. I really wish they discontinue it here in the US because it could've been selling today.
But its too small

Does the panoramic roof have a interior kind of cover or you get permanently heat by the sunshine?
Please bring this car to the U.S. (:

Where's the block heater? I have a 2014 Kia Rondo.
it would be nice if they make a hybrid version
Your videos are really great, you don't get as many views as you should
Yeah im wondering about that too. Oh well Im test driving one this Saturday. Ill find out then
It generally seems that in the U.S. wagons are not popular, but I sure would not complain about having one of these, bad fuel economy or otherwise.
Will this be sold in the USA?
No, they discontinued the Kia Rondo in the US.
TehRobloxian I know they did that...
If someone from Canada probably decides to get it and drive it here, it maybe will be sold as a used car.
The suspension in mine feels like it's just a metal bar connecting. The wheels to the body you feel everything

Odd finish to this but excellent review as always.

Nice
2:12 “7 Row Seating” wow!

Very neat family car. Quite European.

7 row seatings😱😱😱😱😱
For 32k I'd rather take a base Merc B250 I think.
Mike Stoddart nah this has way more features and stuff in it. If it's the sports tourer that's different
There's bondo on my Rondo
Still a Kia
Kia Carens.....
eh it's a budget car for SURE
Fuel economy sucks liars
But its still a good car
***** nope I had it as a rental
My rover needed a some yearly maintenance
I could just be lead footed
510HP is amazing
169hp is sad

Binder Dundat I agree
But I drove a Kia Sorrento and I liked it
This cars power band is the problem because you really need to push it for it to move
