    removable hex is the smartest innovation in RC in YEARS! no more replacing wheels and tires when hexes round out, just replace the hex, belted tires, no more ballooning? sign me up baby!

      But... One year later and the 2.8 belted are too small for the Maxx and the 3.8s are too big! Come on ProLine! Give us a belted Maxx tire

    At 5:55 Trenchers in a trench. These Pro-Line tires look fantastic. The technology just keeps getting better and better. Excellent presentation as always Brett. Sprinkling in silliness is genius but, unlike you Brett, I try to play with the truck like that when no one is looking. Table bongo on brother!

    I bought a set of these this summer for my trusty old 2wd Stampede that had been converted to VXL Spec years ago to replace my non belted Trenchers on the Desperado wheels, that I belted with tape years ago, they were worth every penny so far!

      Also, all wheel manufactures should go to removable hexes. I'm having aluminum Axial hexes starting to round on me in G.made metal wheels.
      But then again, none of companies would stanadadize and only make hexes for their wheels.

    • @SilvaDreams
      @SilvaDreams 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sad part is this isn't new technology, radial tires were patented back in 1914 and had become standard on cars by the 1970's. So it's kind of sad that the issue has taken nearly 30 years to get fixed in RC cars is sad. I mean even my Nikon R/C car from the late 80's had tire ballooning issues and it wasn't nearly as good as most hobby cars and trucks.

Although, we haven't tested these tires on your vehicle, so we are not 100% sure they will fit properly without rubbing (i think they will fit though). The tires come in a pack of two, so you will need two packages. Here they are: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-trencher-hp-belted-2.8-premounted-truck-tires-m2-2-black-pro10168-10/p983667

      No, I don't think they'll fit. The UDR uses a specific wheel with a 17mm hex, but with a smaller than normal axle hole. These RAID wheels with a 17mm hex have a normal (large) axle hole. So if you put these on the UDR, the 5mm wheel nut would not secure the wheel.

    I know this might be a dumb question but here it goes does the 2.8 mean that the tire is that tall or what size wheel it need? How tall are these tires

    • @AMain_Hobbies
      @AMain_Hobbies  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question because the tire sizes can be a little confusing. These tires are 2.8" wide with a 4.87" height. Because of the wide and narrow offset 12mm hexes included, these tires/wheels fit a lot of different vehicles though.

    Brett, I’m new to all this, but I just got a Rustler 2wd and want to know if these will work? Sounds like they will, really wanting some beefier tires and rims. Are there any others that would work any better? Great vids!

    • @AMain_Hobbies
      @AMain_Hobbies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These would fit but they are heavy! You may need to gear down to prevent motor overheating. The HP's are also belted, so they remain flat and sometimes feel edgy because they do not contour to the road surface.
      These moto style tires are not belted: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-badlands-mx28-2.8-premounted-tires-w-raid-6x30-wheels-2-m2-pro10125-10/p985706?v=873803

    • @AMain_Hobbies

      The Kraton is longer. With the stock tires this truck wheelies, but these tires are not as tall, so it lowers the center of gravity of the truck, making it less likely to wheelie, and more stable.

    I'm not going to tell you the answer but at a university lecture .. ..'s top engineer said: *'What is the most important part of a racecar?'* And the obvious answer was not a sales pitch or over simplification especially when it comes to RC cars and trucks. The answer was so true it supports the fact no major open-wheel racing series anywhere in the world allows unrestrained free .. .. choice these days and the only racing event that still does have a real .. .. choice is in endurance sportscar racing.
    I'm sure you the answer by now and due to computers and modern technology there is no end in sight to improvements being made in designing "real" car tires. RC planes are not "fake" planes, so neither are RC cars and trucks... they are just as real as full scale machinery and operate using the same laws of physics, and both need "real parts" to operate. A propeller made out of Silly Putty won't work. But for some reason very small tires manufactured for real RC scale cars and trucks use Suzie Q's balloons left over from her 3rd grade birthday party melted down and reshaped... or so it seems.
    As an old Burns pilot back in the day I am at a complete lose as to why at the prices people pay for good 1/8 scale RC car tires that have a relatively short life span compared to the "slightly larger" properly engineered tires for their real car or truck that some smart manager at Michelin, Firestone, BFGoodrich, Dunlop, Continental, Cooper, Dunlop, Falken, General, Hankook, Kumho, Maxxis, Nitto, Nokian, Pirelli, Sumitomo, Toyo, Uniroyal, Yokohama... SOMEONE... ANYONE PAYING $ATTENTION$ didn't say "wow.. look at the price of that toy tire going on a real RC scale truck..." and then jump on the opportunity to build the first real RC scale belted tires. Right now at Walmart a 16in SuperMax TM-1 205/55R16 91 T Tire sells for $36.88. A set (4) of AKA EVO Impact 1/8 Truggy tires will set you back $100.00. By weight there's a rather large discrepancy just waiting to be taken advantage of. Great opportunity to make something in the USA if you ask me.
    Every time I look at my truggy it reminds me of a rubber $grinder$ missing out on it's "fun" potential to be worth the expense and I just shake my head watching the tires balloon up since it is taking so long to move from toy grade tires to real RC scale belted tires that can be engineered to spec like "real" full scale tires allowing RC track tires to behave as track tires, and RC off road tires to behave as off road tires. Properly engineered RC auto tires will last much longer and the increase in performance will be staggering.... this is just the beginning as the belted sidewall engineering research is deep but already paid for and done. Just imagine what Michelin is capable of creating...

      Not really, there are few belted tires in this size. These tires are the correct size, but they're slicks for on-road driving: www.amainhobbies.com/proline-reaction-hp-belted-drag-slick-2.2-3.0-sct-rear-tires-2-s3-pro10170-203/p1148828?v=1058131
