  • I'm back baby!
After putting off making more film analysis videos for the last few years, I decided to get back into it with a more freestyle variation. Orca: the Killer Whale (1977) is a movie I've wanted to talk about for a long time, so I decided to bite the bullet and put this video together. Hope y'all enjoy.
    More vids coming soon!

Great video! This movie terrified me as a kid. Particularly when the female orca gives birth on the deck of the ship. I was far more horrified at that than anything I saw in Jaws. Jaws is by far the superior film, and Orca absolutely suffers by being an obvious cash grab, but I think Orca actually tries to say more than Jaws does. The moral undertones are well done, but the end product is just not put together well.

Thanks, man, glad you enjoyed the vid! And yeah, I saw it as a kid too. Had it on VHS along with Jaws and Deep Blue Sea. That birthing scene is brutal aha. Spot on though, it does suffer from being a cash grab, but the fact that the filmmakers tried to actually make something on their own terms really makes it a worthwhile watch. Really love Harris as well. He's kind of goofy but also really solemn and dejected in parts. Such a great actor.
