There are so many reasons this movie shouldn’t have worked, shouldn’t have been finished and probably shouldn’t haven’t even been started but thank God it was. One of the greatest films ever made.
My grandfather, James Short, was one of the fabricators of Bruce, and many other things on set. He was one of the welders with the privation team for the whole duration of the film. This movie has always been a huge part of our family. My grandpa bought a house in North Port Florida in 1977, and he called it “the house that Bruce built”. He was on the set so long that he was able to save up enough money to buy a new house. That house now belongs to me, and we have a room dedicated to Jaws. We have over 180 pieces of memorabilia. My favorite being the mini Orca and the movie release poster signed by Scheider, Shaw and Dreyfuss
my hat ( or mask ) goes off to all that were involved in making jaws ! its an amazing film ! and you can see how much hard work was put into the movie to get the shark to work well enough for a few shots !! this is still the best shark movie ever !!
Basically when it was released Spielberg and company felt exactly like the Orca crew. Traumatized and exhausted, but at the same time so happy that the nightmare is over. A true underdog story and a 10 out of 10 movie.
I was six years old, and I was OBSESSED with this film. I did not want Disneyland. I did not want Atari. I only wanted JAWS. The film was already ten years old by this time. Nothing I knew of in first grade was cooler than this film.
i saw Jaws at the flicks aged 10 in 1975 - one of the greatest things at the time (in the UK) was a comic called Action which had a story in it called Hook Jaw based on the film - the shark had Quint's harpoon from the book protruding forwards from its jaw ... great comic - it also did a Magnum Force thing to go with the film
I was nine years old when this film played in my father's movie theatre. I saw it on the first matinee of the first day of its release, and probably a couple dozen more times hanging out at the theatre. The cultural effect of this film was enormous. And it changed the way the movie industry looked at summer.
This is a bad ass movie... I remember the first time I watch it... It was so good and scary... I was a kid went I watch it... The shark is scary and the song went everytime the shark come I love it... The time I went to the beach to go in the water went I was a kid... I hear the song of Jaws song... I said hell no I not going it deep... That is how good the movie really is... They pick the right song for that movie...
Thanks for sharing this video it's so sad that The original orca boat used in the movie of Jaws is no more it would be cool if it was Rebuilt with the original platform they used, So they can sink & not sink the boat in the Movie, & Those yellow barrels that saved Bruce from sinking.
MANDELA EFFECT: Brody used to say, "We're gonna need a bigger boat." Now he says "You're gonna need a bigger boat." This documentary proves it. Thanks for sharing.
My 10 favorite movies of all time 10. The Good The Bad And The Ugly 9. Rocky 8. A Clockwork Orange 7. The Shining 6. Casablanca 5. The Wizard Of Oz 4. Superman (1978) 3. Planet Of The Apes (1968) 2. Dirty Harry 1. JAWS
When I went to see this movie in 1975 I was 7 years old and it was scary for me watching this movie until the end when the shark blew up everybody in the theater was screaming and cheering!!😂😂
I just had the same reaction hearing Steven Spielberg swear at 9:11 as I did when I heard my mother swear the first time... I spat out my cereals!! I then swore for the next week at school until my teacher asked me if I knew what that word actually meant... I cried, "I just thought it was cool" (I truly didn't know what it meant).... ahhhh Good times! ..... I was 28 years of age 😂
I would have loved to be there at that moment when the Orca sank when it was not supposed to just to hear the dude yell" FUCK THE ACTORS SAVE THE SOUND DEPARTMENT!!!"
14:54 I KNEW IT! As a kid when the shark sank i always felt like i heard it roaring on the way down which added an eeriness to it but wasn't sure if that was intended. Now i know
My comment is about the movie the MEG. The MEG came out August 2018. I saw it on October 2018. I was the only one in that whole theatre to see it! And it was a ten screen theatre! Now if this were Jaws which came out two months earlier than the MEG, June 20, 1975, if I went October 1975, to see Jaws, that theatre would have been packed out!
I have the movie dvd jaws,1975,It was a great 45 year old movie,my favor part of that movie, was when the sarcastic, old man, came out of the water,he said to shift brody, cold,he sat on the beach chair and he said we all know all about you,you never like to go on the water, and shift brody responded, something bad had harry, the sarcastic old man, didn't like that, and he left.
I've agreed with Peter Benchley the moment I saw Jaws in the movie theater a second time about the ending. The shark swimming with the scuba tank in its mouth like a giant silver stogie is ridiculous (as is the tank exploding the way it did) but Spielberg was right regarding my first viewing of the movie. It was an emotional build up and release. It's only when one thinks of it and revisits the movie again and again that it doesn't work. I do have to say that in the book, the way it was written, the shark swimming, then drifting up to Brody, Brody expecting his death upon the feel of the shark's snout on his chest only to see the shark sink beneath the surface, dragging Quint's body behind it.
Of course it works. One of the most celebrated and most satisfying endings to a movie ever. Audiences have loved it and cheered ever since. If you haven't seen a crowd of 10,000 on Brighton beach or 5,000 in the Royal Albert Hall cheering when the shark gets blown up you have missed out. 👍 😊
Being in the mouth of any giant Animatronic would be just as terrifying as the real animal that has a trainer & animal handler tbh !!!! Gotta give that man props for actually getting in that things mouth & chocking up fake blood because if it was actually real , I don't think anyone else would even realize it happening if that Animatronic shark was chewing on his body for real!!!!
And Spielberg still never learned from his mistake while making Jurassic Park because the mechanical T-Rex never functioned properly in the wet either.
There are so many reasons this movie shouldn’t have worked, shouldn’t have been finished and probably shouldn’t haven’t even been started but thank God it was. One of the greatest films ever made.
I know right it grossed almost like a half a billion which was absolutely mind boggling back then

The shark in Jaws still looks better than most cgi sharks in movies today.

Greatest movie ever made. THE first Blockbuster ever.
Agree 👍, also the very first shark movie they ever made 🎥 🦈
One of best movies ever,, no doubt. So good

Same here! Lol for a long time Jaws was a imaginary friend of mine! My family loves to remind me of that!
Universal Pictures All-Access needs to promote the crap out of this series!!! Great host and great bonus features
Joe stop creating fake accounts saying that you love the host
Totally agree. Very intriguing..
@@saucybackport hes probably the host lmao
Spielberg should produce a movie that tells the story of the making of JAWS
You mean a “documentary”. That wouldn’t be a movie
@@jimlahey3919 Not a documentary but a 2h feature biopic film.

Why? Somewhat annoying.
What’s with that creepy beginning?
Its funny how everyone thinks the line is, "We're gonna need a bigger boat." Wrong! Its, "You're gonna need a bigger boat."
It's like the wrong line "Luke, i'm your father".
