    Thanks for the history lesson I had heard about the 1959 team from Dad the uncles and Grandfather. To witness it as 5 year old in 1982 was simply amazing. Again another great documentary made.

    When I was a kid i wanted that stripey football. They seemed nicer to kick and pass than the ones that were used during the regular season at the time as they only used the stripey ball during mid week night games. Great vid.

      Soccer is the biggest and most powerful sport on Planet Earth. Soccer has over 4 Billion fans and is massive in over 240 countries. Every nation on Earth loves Soccer. Rugby League is only big in 4 countries. Its a minority sport in England, France, Lebanon etc. Soccer will be the most popular sport in Australia by 2050 gsgjs

    The 1982 State Of Origin series was the only one of the 3 match State Of Origin series where the tries counted 3 points because from 1983 onwards tries counted 4 points and television wise the 1982 State Of Origin series was the only one that was shown on the 7 Network the other series would be shown on the 9 Network from 1983-1989 and from 1991-present while Network 10 showed State Of Origin only once in 1990

    1982 was the last time we saw the SCG configured in this old way for origin. The bob stand was shortly demolished along with those tiny stands next to it and it would be the last origin with the old SCG hill. Also was the last time in 5 years that NSW viewers had to endure an annoying rex mossop. He came back for the 89 origin series for ch 10 but he had to share the box with other commentators and you can tell him and graham huges didn't like each other.
    Usueless info but meh.

      @DanmarskyAus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love the Rugby League history shared here Glen👍🏻 Regarding Rex Mossop, yes I hear you mate. However I'm sure he came back for the 1990 Origin series on Ch10, as Ch9 had the Origin in 89.
      Later this year I'll be creating a strictly Rugby League history You Tube channel Stay tuned mate.

      @@DanmarskyAus Yep sorry got the years mixed up it was 90 not 89. 1990 what a year though life was amazing! I was living in Sydney between watching RL and going to warehouse parties (i worked for a brief time in a record shop called disco city on pitt street sydney and they used to throw warehouse loft parties) listening to the gold school from the east coast vibing with the native tongues and just eating hiphop all the time. You know what i mean@ RL was peaking around this time, especially with the Canberra players. Go the blues haha!

    I was lucky to experience radio calls of the horror of interstate matches in the 70s, where NSW would occasionally bump a born and bred incumbent for a Qlder playing in the Sydney comp, but for all the OTHER Qlders who'd headed south it meant no chance of playing if NSW knocked them back. A lot of talent was kept off the field, and it was ALL maroon.
    That was the sneaky trick in the mix. As soon as we got to pick our own, they started to run rings around those Kangaroos in blue, and take their slots on coming tours. It also meant that Qlders could now head south, giving the BRL and QRL players a boost in opportunities.
    Best of all, it shut the southern press down at last. All the crap about Origin not going to make any difference was over.
