If the celtics win (and the mavs don't screw it up enough to deserve it) then the congrats video needs to be Congrats Billy King, the NBA's Herschel Walker trade. For those of you who don't know Billy King, the then GM of the nets, decided in 2013 to trade 3 1st round picks, a pick swap, and a smattering of unexceptional players to the celtics for paul pierce (36 y/o, left after one season), Kevin Garnett (37 y/o, traded after a season and a half), and Jason Terry (36 y/o, played for 35 games then left). One of those picks resulted in Jaylen Brown and the pick swap resulted in Jason Tatum.
You don't have to mention the pick swap since they had first overall pick and traded down. Give credit to Pierce for convincing KG to waive his no trade clause.
Regardless, the Nets end up as the biggest losers in this year's finals. Either they get further confirmation that the KG/Pierce trade was the worst deal of all time, or they have to watch Kyrie win a ring, after everything that happened, and did I mention that they traded Kyrie for some bubble gum and a paper clip. Thank you for being one of the few who calls the play in games what they are, garbage cash grabs. The 10 and 9 seed have no business in the playoffs. You had 82 games to be top 8 in your conference and couldn’t get it done, sucks to suck
The play-in should only be used a tiebreaker scenario if there’s teams tied for the 8th seed. Obviously more games can be played if there’s more than two teams tied to determine the final playoff spot (or spots if there’s multiple ties going into the 7th seed and further up) but that would be the only thing that would make things fair, so they could go MLB-style with how that was handled for the one game playoff. Otherwise, if your team’s record is short then you’re short and don’t deserve a chance for the playoffs. Ever since the current format began in 1984, there’s been 12 scenarios where teams have tied for the final spot.
If the Celtics win the NBA championship, the city of Boston will reach a level of insufferability and toxicity not seen since 2019, and the whole country will not survive it.
Boston's mastery of soul magic is incredible. It's like they can control the talent on their teams with sliders like in a video game: they can suck the talent out of some of their teams to turn the others into juggernauts like a twisted game of whack-a-mole. The Patriots are finally bad again, the Bruins are hilarious chokers, and the Red Sox are textbook mediocrity, so what does that mean? It's the Celtics' turn to become elite!
So what - did the reason the Giants and Eagles beat Brady is because they spent a week saying "We're scared of Boston, no one can beat them, we're done for already?"
"We want Boston" has now officially become taboo in the realm of sports. As the Boston Celtics win 4-1 in the NBA finals Luka Doncic is most definitely fuming and I would not be surprised if even uttering the words will result in physical harm. On another note, Kyrie Irving is furious.
Doc Rivers deserves his own Legacy of Failure video, and yes he won one title in 2008 with a Celtics team that a 12-year old coaching could’ve won with

I like how this season was just: Superteams fall to injury, superteams fall to in-fighting and drama, Superteams fall to other superteams… and then The Pacers. Who are so frickin’ jazzed to be there.
As a Cavs fan, firing Bickerstaff was the right move. I’m grateful for Bickerstaff for bridging the gap between our rebuilding phase and competing phase but his lineups and coaching ability simply aren’t enough for a championship team. He’ll find a job elsewhere though.
And the lesson to take away from this NBA finals is, doing a ‘We Want Blank’ chant of any kind never works out for your team, 99 times out of 100 it just ends up jinxing your chances of winning.
@@shermanngjazzand that seemed to be because the Texas Rangers hadn’t won a championship before 2023. It seems the curse doesn’t work when it’s a team that hasn’t won a championship doing it. Usually.

Apparently whoever chants “We want Boston” caused their team to lose to Boston sports teams! 😂 Also, I saw this statistic on TV last night after game 1, that game 1 winners win 70% of the series altogether.
Man, oh man. What can I say about this season? My friends and I were laser-focused on two significant details, the Celtics domination over these past few months, and the seemingly never-ending battle between Denver, Minnesota, and OKC. As we got closer to the playoffs, there was a lot of excitement to witness. Major highlights include the Warriors getting eliminated first, the Pacers surprising us by defeating the Knicks, the Celtics slaughtering the Pacers, Dallas storming OKC, the Timberwolves shutting out the Suns only to be beaten badly by the Mavericks, and now the playoffs. Can the Boston Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks and win their 18th championship? I believe they can.
As a Pacers fan even though getting swept still stings quite a ton (all but one by minimal losses too), I'll take this season 10 out of 10 times in contrast to what was projected of us coming into this season (Over/under 38 wins). Obviously just immature basketball & a lack of experience leading into the sweep, but I have a good feeling once the team meshes together & our young guys keep getting better this won't be the last time we make the ECF under the new era. Go 'Cers
I’m still bummed out at how the Bucks season played out. With back to back first round exits, I sadly think they might not win another title at least in the next 5 years. But at least they’re not the Suns. They are stuck in cap hell paying 3 guys and no one else. Hiring Budenholzer will not solve your issues.

Sports Fans: STOP TRYING TO SHIT ON BOSTON FOR FUCKING ONCE IN YOUR LIVES, AND DEMANDING YOU FACE THEM. FFS HAVE WE NOT LEARNED FROM BRADY??!
Apparently Toronto Maple Leafs fans have not learned either.
Eh well Brady is a massive cheater so there is that
Blues and Warriors fans from past teams beg to differ
So what - did the reason the Giants and Eagles beat Brady is because they spent a week saying "We're scared of Boston, no one can beat them, we're done for already?"
@@briancrawford69 That's irrelevant to OP's point and you know it.
Mavericks fans said the forbidden chant! Looks like it's Boston in 4 then.
Mavs fans are also Rangers fans and they chanted "We Want Astros" and beat them.
@@americasteam2112 Exactly
@@americasteam2112 Last I checked, the Astros play in Houston, not Boston.
@@saurondp Last I checked, fuck Boston.
@@americasteam2112 Mavs 0-3 as we speak 🤣😂
"We want Boston" has now officially become taboo in the realm of sports. As the Boston Celtics win 4-1 in the NBA finals Luka Doncic is most definitely fuming and I would not be surprised if even uttering the words will result in physical harm. On another note, Kyrie Irving is furious.
_At least both the Mavs and Celtics are healthy entering the Finals_
Mavs fans said the dreaded phrase. Luka and Kyrie are getting injured three minutes into the first quarter.
Luka isnt technically healthy, he’s on the injury report
Lively meh luka maybe porzingis no kornet no hardaway no
Me see tree post. Me click. Me watch. Me smile. Me happy

If you could only learn english...
I finally got an answer to why the Celtics are up 3-0 against the Mavs…Let’s Go Boston 🥳
bro the okc section 😭😭
Go pats
Doc Rivers deserves his own Legacy of Failure video, and yes he won one title in 2008 with a Celtics team that a 12-year old coaching could’ve won with
As someone who doesn’t do a whole lot of basketball related videos, I’m quite surprised at depth of your knowledge of the sport and just how in touch with the culture you are. Major props Tree!!!
Al Horford, Neemias Queta and Xavier Tillman are NBA champions, Jrue Holiday is a two-time champ and Marcus Smart is currently toiling in Memphis.
As a Spurs fan, seeing the Thunder collapse like this is music to my ears.
When Tree makes NBA content , the world rejoices
Bold of you to including the Mavs fans saying "we want Boston" but leave out what happens when front row fans talk shit to Luka.
Luka was talking to the owner of the franchise and is 0-3 as we speak
This aged well😊
“At least you aren’t the Mavericks” - Tree, Hater’s Guide to the 2023 NBA Finals
Man, what a difference a year makes.
We need a Peter Deboer legacy of failure.
agreed
"Dallas can eat a butt,-rito!"
Kid near me at a Wild/Stars game. Good kid
I stopped watching the NBA after the 2019 finals, but I still enjoy the annual Haters Guide.
NBA been trash since 2017 the 2016 final was the last good year i would say this season has been especially awful, Defence doesnt exist anymore multiple games this year have had winning teams with scores over 140+
@@KJaswal I haven't watched a single playoff game, so I don't know if it was good or not.
Also, I agree that 2017/2018 were straight up trash. I thought 2019 was somewhat enjoyable because we got to see some good matchups.
I like how this season was just: Superteams fall to injury, superteams fall to in-fighting and drama, Superteams fall to other superteams… and then The Pacers. Who are so frickin’ jazzed to be there.
Been waiting for this since the mavs beat the t wolves
Suns don’t have a draft pick until 2031. TWO THOUSAND AND THIRTY ONE!!!! I’ll be fucking half DEAD BY THEN
As a Cavs fan, firing Bickerstaff was the right move. I’m grateful for Bickerstaff for bridging the gap between our rebuilding phase and competing phase but his lineups and coaching ability simply aren’t enough for a championship team. He’ll find a job elsewhere though.
Rewatching this in july out of boredom and realizing that tree made so many joke predictions that ended up actually happening is really funny
And the lesson to take away from this NBA finals is, doing a ‘We Want Blank’ chant of any kind never works out for your team, 99 times out of 100 it just ends up jinxing your chances of winning.
Only the Rangers can make that chant work against the Astros lol
@@shermanngjazzand that seemed to be because the Texas Rangers hadn’t won a championship before 2023. It seems the curse doesn’t work when it’s a team that hasn’t won a championship doing it. Usually.
"We Want Boston" is a jinx asking for a ass whooping is like saying "We Want Bama" or "We Want Georgia"
Wished tree did NBA vids more but I get why
The NHL, MLB & NFL videos are way more entertaining in comparisons
I don't know if there's anyone on TH-cam for shitposty NBA takes. For Twitter, it's Barry for basketball and Tree for every other sport
@FirearmofMutiny Might want to check out Commisioner Dynamo. He's also a Pistons fan so he's kind of like the Brandon Perna of the NBA.
cant wait for the NHL video!
The Timberwolves make the line “Looking California and feeling Minnesota.” sound like an insult.
Cuz they got "Outshined" and they "just looked in the mirror and things aren't lookin so good."
@@crashstitches79 They can’t get any lower, but still they feel they’re sinking.
Every playoff team: "We want Boston!"
Boston Celtics: "And I took that personally."
As a Timberwolves fan, playing Dallas I knew would he a mess, Dallas is just on another level, but it's fun seeing new match ups in the finals instead of the same 4 teams.
The Western Conference was far more intriguing than the Eastern. I knew Boston would win the East before the playoffs even started. Still, great season for the T-Wolves.
Words cannot express my joy whenever Tree uploads basketball-related content. Hope you're doing well, my dude!
Tree, you did not have to do the Thunder like that with the Chet and SGA commercial like that 😂😂😂
That Billy King line at the end killed me
The last time I was this early, the Patriots made the playoffs.
BIG AL IS AN AGELESS WONDER!!!🙌🙌🙌
In all seriousness. If you told me someone over the age of 38 would be in the NBA finals in 2024 I would’ve assumed you mean LeBron.
When is Pittsburgh getting a basketball team, so we get more Tree basketball content??
Coming back to this after the finals, safe to say Tree called this one😂
I feel like both LA teams really need to blow up their cores at this point. I know the NBA won't like it because of the LA market and both teams not being good for a while, but both teams absolutely need to rebuild and have a massive shake up from the top down. The one thing you don't want to do is try to ride on this hamster wheel of insanity and then get forced into a rebuild.
As a clips fan I am fully on board with losing everyone to try to make up some draft capital. Im so sick of watching these old men pretend theyre contenders
Building a statue for Luka or Billy King? Oh how I love Tree's continuity
Cleveland fans: “ WE WANT BOSTON!
Results: Celtics win the series!
Indiana: “WE WANT BOSTON!”
Results: Celtics wins the series.
Dallas: “WE WANT BOSTON!”
Tree: Congrats to the Celtics on the Series win. 😂😂😂! 20:18
I grew up in Boston Mass for 22 years now living in Dallas, watching my two favorite teams play in the finals is a dream come true. I’m definitely pulling for my home town team the Celtics on this one.
How do you like Dallas vs Boston? my family is considering buying a house in Texas because property value here in suburban Boston Mass is going up and we could sell here and get a really nice house in the South.
@@liam45506 Dallas Fort Worth area has cheaper housing with no state income tax in Texas. Plus the DFW metroplex is huge with a booming economy with many opportunity’s if you were to switch careers.
I moved from Mass back in 2020 and have no regrets on my decision.
I’m a simple man…I see a new “Hater’s Guide”, I click.
Chaos at its finest
A tree video dropping right before dinner? There truly is a sports god
The Dallas Blue Ponies vs The Boston Leprechauns
Tree went full Tree and I AM LOVING IT!
Knew Boston would win the championship congratulations
The best part of tree making these playoff videos is the simple fact none of the NFL ones he does will ever include the Steelers.
i see tree is just like every other basketball pundit when it comes to reggie and the knicks. When will people realize he lost the series he did the choke sign to spike? Maybe some day
Apparently whoever chants “We want Boston” caused their team to lose to Boston sports teams! 😂
Also, I saw this statistic on TV last night after game 1, that game 1 winners win 70% of the series altogether.
Yes, Al Horford is still our troll
Go 'Cers
Hearing tree talk basketball is always funny. I wanna hear u talk about those pirates tho
you don't want any particular opponent how many fucking times does Tree need to remind y'all of that
6:22 - clairvoyant as ever, señor Tree
Why the hell do all the new NBA logos have to be a circle LMAO
For real 🥱
I’m still bummed out at how the Bucks season played out. With back to back first round exits, I sadly think they might not win another title at least in the next 5 years.
But at least they’re not the Suns. They are stuck in cap hell paying 3 guys and no one else. Hiring Budenholzer will not solve your issues.
No Warriors or Lakers. We're saved.
Celtics exist: Am I a joke to you?
@brientaylorcohen They litteraly worse than both combined, y'all really stupid
Celtics fans are bad enough.
We have Celtics though.
"I wouldn't say saved.. more like under new management." 👌💥🤕
he had me at “Kanye Irving”😂😂😂
Nice job fans lol 😂 looks like tree was right congratulations on the Celtics on the series win
Ewwww gross
Nah, more like 'Conglaturation, Dallas' for the second time this calendar year.
