I was just thinking about this. The "othering" you see sometimes from other women, or women demeaning themselves or other women, etc. The cool girl rhetoric is so true - and it serves to put down women who are more "feminine" in behaviour.

It ultimately depends on the context and why the person said that, in determining whether it's a complement or not. Like, what if the person believes most other men she's met are jerks, but you're special? It would be a complement, in that case
That's not what she's saying. She's saying that stereotypically masculine traits are more valued than stereotypically feminine ones. Women and girls who display more stereotypically masculine traits are often praised more and taken more seriously than those who are stereotypically feminine. Women and girls have internalized these attitudes. Gender stereotypes should be done away with, and people should all just be allowed to be themselves and be accepted for it. That's the point.

nah, i agree with Kaelan. This woman is making the typical mistake of thinking that what Hollywood shows is what real people think. Shes just one cancerous cell spreading from the massive tumor that is Hollywood. Not her fault, its sad. But still, just coz u feel bad for a cancerous cell doesnt meanit isnt sick and needs to be rejected by the healthy cells.

There is nothing wrong with being like “other girls.” They are people with interests too, and you’d be surprised to see how much in common with girls.
