edit:
hii guys i know my vid is "things i wish i knew before starting to draw digitally"
but the whole vid is just tips that I learnt through out the years on what works best in drawing traditionally.
Here's some insight that i forgot to include in my video lol:
(you can also considered it as a summary of the whole vid lol)
1) recommendation lol
2) having a controller makes such a huge difference when it comes to drawing digitally, I suffered so much without commands n using a keyboard for too long
3) recommendation lol
4) this is just what works for me, i prefer working on few layers and u make less mistakes like "oh no i drew in the wrong layer" or dumb shit like that lol
5) instead of redrawing over and over, using those tools makes it so much easier to get things right in your art without necessarily redrawing it
6) for so many years i used to color so bad. if i knew about clipping or how to do a proper art base i wouldnt have had such AWFUL erasing marks on my old art or spend so much fucking time erasing within the lines omfg pls pls STOP WASTING YOUR TIME just do the method i gave u guys
7) outline brushes are so genius and so smart, they make things so much easier to draw certain things ughhh
8) color slider trick has been a bless, color wheel has always been a pain learning how to use it you have a better chance chosing colors with the color slider than the color wheel
9) just fun tricks i learnt while messing around with the art program, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt lol
10) same as my previous video, just make things more colorful and pleasant
11) lazy to draw everything so using the symmetry tool does the trick
12) custom brushes are truly a blessing more art programs should have assets stores
13) recommendation and something you should be doing even if its traditional art
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF PLSSS dont get carpel tunnel

THANK YOU!! I do hope so but it does take some time to make those type of vids specially since i have to start from scratch most of the time and filled it up as i go :3 im really glad you like the video!!! 💕
Gradient maps are also very good and underlooked feature
YEA THEY ARE GREAT BUT I ALWAYS GET CONFUSED ON HOW TO USE EM 😭
For anyone interested, i can recomend huion tablets, i've bought a screen tablet 6 years ago and it still works perfectly. Only con is that eventually the pen tips won't stick to the pen anymore but you have enought replacements to go on for years. I was giben about 10/12 and i still have 3 replacements left without having needet to rebuy any. (And i use both pens at once so they get used up twice as fast) [basically i charge one pen while i draw with the other]
Charging the pen sounds a huge deal breaker for me 😭 but the nibs goes w every drawing tablet u always have to switch em out when they start to worn out. Is better to switch them when the nib gets too sharp.
Your art style makes my brain really happy its so good. And thw vtuber is such 2000s/early 2010s its beautiful :)))
Also my first drawing tablet was a screenless wacom. I learned i really needed a screen. I got an ipad (lost my apple pencil for like 3 years) and then got a huion which scratched way too easily, found my apple pencil again and thats what ive been using. Its what works best for me. Find what works best for you. Arts ment to be fun and freeing (just dont be problimatic).
Seems like the TH-cam gods have recommended me a real gem! Even as a pretty experienced user, I got a few tips here, and I loveee your aesthetic and ‘sona! Plus your voice is very easy to listen to 💖
AWWWWEEEEEEE 😭 another super sweet comment 💕 im glad you like it!!! I was super self conscious on my voice in this vid cuz i had to switch mics but im really happy to hear it sounds just fine! :3
Awww! This is so cute! And good/funny narration ❤
😭 HONESTLY i thought this vid and the previous one i sounded too monotone/serious but im glad you found it entertaining!!! 💕
Omg you’re such a good TH-camr! Do you think you could do a tutorial on starting with v tuber models? I wanna start with something simple. (Assuming you made yours) 💜💜💜
Hiii ! No i commissioned my model to be made :3 but i do want to make one in the future at least just the art model
@@tomokokyun yippee! I look forward to seeing that :D

I wish videos like this are around when i first get into digital art :'D your video literally touched all major part of beginner artists do and dont so i think your video will help alot of beginner artist! Keep on being awesome! 🩷🩷
GODDDD THAT WAS THE SWEETEST COMMENT EVER 😭💕💕💕💕 that’s mainly the idea i feel like theres so many clickbait/ barely getting into the point yt art videos and i always wanted to make s yt video giving all my insights in digital art as well as traditional 💕💕
@@tomokokyun yaaa the rise of clickbaits videos are very concerning and annoying, I just wish your video won't be drowned under them because beginners definitely need to see this!! 🩷 Hehe you're the sweetest too 🤧🩷

@@Iluhv.cup1d YEA OMG 😭 PPL REALLY SPED RUN MY 1K GOAL LMAAO
I recommend to people who may not want to pay for a controller; buy a seperate NumPad and map your most necessary shortcuts to the buttons as you like!
My first art tablet was a Wacom tablet at the age of 11… i quit using it as i got frustrated using it and it didn’t work with my computer.. I’m saving up for an XP Pen tablet.. or if i have more saved by November, I’ll get something fancy
Ì have a xp-pen non screen tablet and its fun😋, i had since 2021 i think , and im saving up for a screen tablet (:
For colouring lineart - I wonder if you can do it by setting the new layer to multiply so you can use the colour-picked shade directly, w/o tweaking it
With regular black lineart it wouldnt work, it would work if the lineart is a different color and lowered the opacity of the layer. Either way imo that method doesnt give a nice result compared to doing it manually and picking out the colors yourself
Btw theres an auto action to color the lineart for you and sometimes it does look nice but i feel like it still looks better with doing it manually lol 😭💔 whichever method is good i just think it looks the best when its manually colored
I'll get my huion kamvas 16 pro soon, i guess, i used the Wacom Intuos for a long time for drawings or for playing osu lol and i think i need a upgrade so yeah, i like huion, i mean is cheaper then others. I like your videos, keep it up!
IMO when you look for a tablet have some boundaries u want the tablet to have,
is this tablet portable? (You can bring it with you no problem or are there some stuff on the way)
Like is it heavy/too many cables/ needs to be plugged to the wall.
If its not portable or a bit harder to move around, its automatic a tablet u use at home but if its portable that’s becomes a pro.
Do i need to charge the pen for whatever reason?
Yes/No
Imo if i do have yo charge my pen i immediately will go for a different tablet cuz i dont wanna wait for my pen to charge, i want to use my tablet whenever
Does it have custom buttons?
Yes/no
If it does, thats a pro
If it doesnt, more money u would have to spend 💔 or learn how to use the commands in your keyboard
Does the pen have an eraser and have buttons on the side?
Yes/no
If it does, yay perfect!
If it doesnt, imo look for another tablet. Those lil things are super important when it comes to drawing digital, every pen should have an eraser in the back 😭 and the buttons on the pen are so necessary for colorpicking the artwork.
What type of cables does it have?
Does it have usb or usbc
Depnding on ur pc/laptop u should def get one that is perfect for ur pc, 😭 for me buying extra stuff just to connect it is such a hassle ugh
And i think with those stuff in mind u should be good, def look for a bunch of reviews about it before buying it and always compare it. Def think about your needs first when it comes to buying a tablet
I mean, it's portable, 2 cables, 8 express keys on the tablet and 2 on the pen, i dont think so i have to charge the pen, but i will use it at home anyways and i have a normal tablet from huawei to draw what i can take with me, I will probably mount this tablet with a monitor mount and also use it as a 3 monitor. The tablet also has 4k UHD and a pen holder with tips etc are also included. Thank u very much for ur answer, helped a lot!!
A tip I'd recommend for getting used to a screenless tablet is getting osu, it'll definitely train your hand eye coordination. Only con is that you might get addicted to playing osu instead of actually drawing...
Yea I’ve heard that tip too 😭 i was going to include it but playing osu for me was pretty frustrating lol
I have been using my thumb to draw and a small screen tablet for years, lol. I dont know why, but i always avoided buying a pen or a controller. I really should though
Torture omfg 😭
FOR MY DYSPRAXIC ARTISTS!, LISTEN VERY VERY CLOSELY! Get yourself a screen tablet. Please. Do it, just trust me. But only after you have some experience with digital art, and want to take it more seriously. Like with your finger on your phone or tablet on ibisPaint X
I currently use an xpen :] really good quality, I wouldn't recommend it for beginners considering the price but it's really good
I've tried both wacom and huion non-screen tablets and my huion made me realise how bad the wacom actually was. The wacom had delayed pressure, the cable it came with was super short, the pen was really uncomfortable, and didn't come with replacement nibs.
What wacom tablet did you had? Cuz I realized they downgraded their tablets a lot after bamboo, the cintiq are nice tho i do like my cintiq 16 a lot ^_^
I cant trust huion cause of other reviews i have heard and the fact that you need to charge your pen to draw just killed me 😭 but they probably gotten better since then but i cant say much since i have only tried wacom my whole life :,3
@@tomokokyun I used to use the Intuos S since I needed something I could take in a very small backpack but it was really bad, it's unfortunate too since it cost so much more than my huion that's a lot better
@@ruixxaa yea no fuck intous tablets 😭 the only one i see thats worth it is the intous pro… but yea getting a simple drawing tablet is better to use other brands since wacom is becoming too overpriced 😭
@@ruixxaa I actually own an Intuos S too, tho personally i don't think mine's that bad, maybe i've already adapted to it or i just think so cause i've never tried a huion before
I don't know bout you but mine does have replacement nibs, if you're talking bout' smth like nibs with dif sizes and shapes for whatever you're drawing then yeah the tablet doesn't come with those, but if you're just talking about replacement nibs in general for when your current nib gets damaged, pretty sure those are on the back of ur Intuos
as for the cable, im assuming you have a big workspace or you want to place your tablet a bit far from your monitor cause the cable that i got is honestly not that short, i don't really have problems /w it
I can personally vouch for XP-Pen! In my experience they have been nothing but awesome. Both my first and current tablet was from them, I don't recall what the drawing pad model I had was called but they're overall cheaper than Wacom for the same or bigger size.
The screen tablet I have now is huge, over 20 inches to be exact, it's their Artist 22R Pro. I would only recommend if you have the desk space tor it, and have a bigger budget.
As for a middle ground, I used the Gaomon PD1161 for a bit. It's a screen tablet, and smaller and less expensive, but it doesn't come with a stand nor is compatible with any, so you'll have to be okay with having your neck down if you want to use it. That's the main reason why I upgraded, because my neck was killing me most days.
Just wanted to give my input! Not a beginner but I just wanted to contribute to the tablet conversation. I love talking about art equipment, so yeah.
I used to have Wacom that has no screen bc I started to do digital art and I should have also use it for osu before it was broken 😭..
You dont need to play osu to get used to it, is just an option you can use. Just using it as a mouse little by little you start getting used to it
underrated
As always 💔
About the canvas size/dpi, dpi only matters if you pick your canvas size in something other than pixels. My dpi is currently set to 65536 as a joke
Also, if you are using something other than pixels, 300+ is only needed for printing. If you just want to post online 75-200 is a-ok.
@@xiaoxaon idk imo using 72 or 200 always looks like shit to me 😭 even if im not gonna print my artwork i always want my art to look HQ lol
@tomokokyun im not sure why your art would look different with different dpi. If you're using Px to size your canvas, that's strange
@@xiaoxaon idk but i do feel like both canvas n dpi come hand in hand 😭
Uh well my first drawing tablet was a Xp-pen and to be specific it's the artist 12 pro
for those who struggle using a screenless tablet pls watch this vid! Its suuuper helpful

It's very kewl and very friendly for left-handed peeps like me >:D
